In the ward, Chen Qian, Li Yunhong and Mo Yichen were busy with their own businesses. The silent atmosphere made it quite awkward for them to stay together.
After washing the apples, Chen Qian took one and began to peel it seriously. Every now and then she raised her head to see what Mo Yichen and Li Yunhong were doing. Although the space of the ward was not very narrow, Chen Qian still felt depressed.
Li Yunhong approached to Xiangyan, looking at him with tears full of her eyes. He was so weak. She was afraid that anything wrong would happen to him again.
Mo Yichen’s phone kept vibrating in his pocket. As he found it was his assistant, he wanted to hang up directly to take good care of Xiangyan.
But on second thoughts, it occurred to him that his assistant must have encountered something urgent. Otherwise, he wouldn’t call him for consulting.
“Hello? What’s wrong?” Mo Yichen walked to the end of the hospital corridor, looking out of the window. He put a hand in his pocket and stood straight.
“President Mo, Wen Yunfeng’s grandmother came to our company and clamored for seeing you.”
“I told her that you are too busy at a very important meeting to meet her. But she insisted on waiting for you to come out. She’s not leaving.”
“Now everyone knows she wants to see you. So, I comforted her to wait for you in the reception room. Is it possible that you can come back later?”
Standing at the stairs of the company, the assistant called Mo Yichen carefully. For fear of being overheard, he spoke in a quiet voice and covered his phone with one hand.
“Okay, I see. Calm her down first.”
After hanging up the phone, Mo Yichen went to the canteen in the hospital to buy Li Yunhong and Chen Qian lunch. Although it was not as tasty as the food outside, it was definitely safe and healthy.
“Mom, I bought you food. You can have lunch now, or it’ll be cold.”
Mo Yichen took the food out of the handbag to show them, then put the food on the cabinet in front of the bed, and reminded both of them of eating soon.
“Xiangyan, how do you feel now?” Mo Yichen bent and touched his forehead.
“Dad, I feel much better.” Seeing his father with his big round eyes, Xiangyan looked happy.
“Xiangyan, let me help you up and eat some food, okay?”
“Dad, I am not hungry. I couldn’t stomach any food.”
Xiangyan looked away, covered his ears and pouted capriciously.
“Listen to me. Just have a bite. If you don’t eat any food, how could you recuperate and get better?” Mo Yichen spoke in a softer tone, as if he was spoiling a little princess.
“Xiangyan, what do you want to eat? I can buy it for you.” Seeing this, Chen Qian asked Xiangyan. The latter frowned and ignored Mo Yichen.
“I want to have an ice cream. I want to have an ice cream!” A smile lit up in Xiangyan’s face. He looked at Chen Qian expectantly, putting her in a quandary.
“Why are you so naughty? If you don’t behave yourself, I’ll beat you.” Mo Yichen was very upset to see Xiangyan making so much noise and refusing to eat. So, he spanked him.
Xiangyan sobbed and made mournful sound.
He had never thought that his father would treat him testily like this. After all, Mo Yichen had always been spoiling him, so he burst into tears.
“Dad, you don’t love me anymore.” Xiangyan cried in a choked voice, with tears and snot mixed together.
“What are you doing? How can you vent your anger on a child?” Li Yunhong held Xiangyan in her arms tightly.
However, Mo Yichen was intended to frighten him in the first place, but Xiangyan was so scared. Hearing his crying, Mo Yichen was more furious and helpless. The anger triggered and he was agitated.
“Mom, what are you doing? You are spoiling him. Can’t you see that? He is too disobedient to listen to me.”
Mo Yichen tried to pull Xiangyan from Li Yunhong’s arms.
“You can say it in a gentle way. Why are you mad at him? He’s so young and he’s sick now. There’s no need to be strict right now.”
Li Yunhong patted Mo Yichen’s hand to stop him from pulling Xiangyan out. She had always spoiled Xiangyan, seeing him as a treasure, so she wouldn’t allow her baby grandson to be aggrieved.
“Xiangyan, don’t cry. Listen to me, have the meal first, Auntie will buy you an ice cream when you get better. Is that okay?” Chen Qian comforted Xiangyan constantly.
Chen Qian was also confused. Both of Xiangyan and Mo Yichen were stubborn. Whatever they had decided, they must do it.
Xiangyan nodded. He was also frightened by Mo Yichen’s attitude. His father would buy him everything he wanted before no matter how expensive the stuff was. This was the first time that he refused his request ruthlessly, and he even beat him.
Feeling aggrieved and scared, Xiangyan tried his best to hold back his tears. He took a glance at Mo Yichen carefully. Under the persuasion of Li Yunhong and Chen Qian, he agreed to have lunch first reluctantly and wouldn’t have ice cream until he’s fully recovered.
He kept sobbing and dared not to disobey Mo Yichen.
“Xiangyan, take it easy. Let’s have food first. Leave your dad alone.” Then Li Yunhong glared at Mo Yichen fiercely.
Poor Mo Yichen was isolated by them…
Li Yunhong and Chen Qian comforted Xiangyan to eat lunch, told him jokes to cheer him up, and lulled him to sleep.
The ward quieted down finally. Mo Yichen sighed. Xiangyan was getting more and more stubborn. He needed to be educated by someone around him. He needed both father and mother’s love to grow up happily and healthily.
“Yichen, go and eat some food.” Li Yunhong said.
“Did your assistant call you this morning? You haven’t been to the company for a long time. There must be a lot of businesses for you to deal with. Check it out this afternoon. We’ll stay to take care of him.”
Li Yunhong knew that Mo Yichen was exhausted since he had been busy lately to take care of Xiangyan. She didn’t blame him but loved both her son and grandson.
