Annie stood at the entrance of the nightclub, the opulent light falling on her fluffy wavy short hair. She looked up at Joseph Shaw on the steps and softly said, "President Shaw, I’ll have the driver come pick you up tonight, I’m leaving first."
She really couldn’t hold on any longer. The food she had consumed was churning in her stomach, and if she stayed here any longer, she feared she might end up vomiting all of her dinner.
"Is it your first day following me? Don’t you know what’s required when working overtime?" After Charlotte Miller was practically dragged inside by Atlas Hallow, only Daniel Parker and Annie were left facing each other on the smooth black marble steps.
"I can’t hold on today." The cold cat-like eyes under her short hair seemed to have lost their luster, becoming dull and dark.
It wasn’t just that she couldn’t hold on today; she wouldn’t be able to hold on in the future either.
After five whole years, she truly couldn’t endure any longer.
Her heel was already blistered and bleeding, only she knew how painful it was, but she still had to maintain the most elegant and capable image of a secretary in front of everyone. However, none of this physical pain could compare to the bitterness in her heart.
"I’m leaving now. Have a good time." Annie turned and walked down the steps, then waved to a taxi parked ahead, and without saying anything further, got into the car directly.
The luxurious private room was astonishing, but Charlotte felt restless.
A group of women stood there, ready to be chosen. Atlas Hallow wanted to tell her that this was the world of businessmen and also the world of men. Deep down, he still felt she should stay by his side instead of dreaming of having a career like a man.
But Charlotte never imagined that a man like Atlas Hallow would do such a thing.
"Aren’t you going to pick one for yourself?" Charlotte asked with displeasure. He must have frequented such places, looking familiar with the process: "Or do I need to pick one for you?" Was she supposed to be a dutiful wife?
"Charlotte, you’re the one who told me to be courteous with you. Am I too warm and hospitable to the point that I did something wrong?" Atlas looked at Charlotte’s angry little face, teasing her like a cat playing with a mouse. He found it all very amusing and entertaining.
Ethan Baird and Daniel Parker felt a bit awkward, unsure of what to make of it.
"Then enjoy yourself; I have the right to leave first, don’t I?" The heavy perfume in the room made her dizzy. She stood up abruptly, and her face didn’t look too good.
She didn’t appreciate Atlas Hallow’s disrespect, making a group of scantily-clad women stand in front of her, what was that supposed to mean?
Ethan Baird picked up a piece of watermelon, becoming the observer of the scene.
The little sweet heart was really angry, and it was quite amusing.
A seemingly gentle girl wasn’t so easy to pacify when she was angry.
Atlas Hallow, adding to his own troubles, should know that to deal with such a little cat, you needed to go along with the grain, but he liked to go against it, just waiting to get scratched fiercely.
A slice of sweet, juicy watermelon hadn’t even been finished when Charlotte Miller slammed the door and left.
Leaving Daniel Parker and Ethan Baird exchanging smiles, raising their glasses for a toast together.
"Alright, Charlotte, stop making a fuss..." Even though she’d been exhausted the whole day, she could still run faster than a rabbit.
Atlas Hallow stretched his long legs and dashed out, catching up with Charlotte on the marble steps.
"You’re the one who said our relationship is now just a business partnership. I just wanted to show you what a real partnership is like. Charlotte, do you think I’m insulting you? You’re wrong..." The man standing on the steps, with the stars seemingly reflecting in his eyes.
"If you want to continue progressing in your beloved field, you must understand many of the hidden rules. Ethan Baird has shielded you well, allowing you to maneuver funds smoothly, not just because you have intuition, ability, and the Baird Family name backing you, which many people respect, understand?" Atlas pointed out sharply. If she wanted to keep advancing and become the best, dealing with such situations would be too numerous to count.
"And today, this is just child’s play..." After saying that, Atlas’s hand brushed over her soft hair, "Maybe telling you this seems harsh, but you need to understand more."
Putting aside the role of a husband, he also wanted to become her teacher, to teach her more.
Even Atlas Hallow didn’t know why he wanted to do this, it seemed like he just wanted to satisfy her desires, to fulfill her.
