"Sister, you’re not suited for these things." Holding back the fire about to burst out of her heart, Charlotte stood in the dim light, earnestly advising.
Perhaps because Luna’s face had too many scars, she didn’t even turn on very bright lights. The two women conversed in the darkness, suppressed and tense.
"I’m not suited, but you are?" Since the car accident, Luna seemed to have become a different person; she couldn’t even maintain superficial politeness anymore, directly confronting Charlotte.
She couldn’t understand where Charlotte got her sense of superiority, thinking she couldn’t earn money? Now, she had Atlas Hallow as a resource, and it would be foolish not to use him.
"I am definitely more suitable than you are. It’s your freedom to borrow from him, but I’ll stop him. Being able to borrow is your skill, but making him not lend to you is my ability. "You don’t want to go that far? You say that, but that’s not what you think. If you don’t want to go that far, why do you stop Atlas Hallow from lending me money?" Luna laughed coldly. She thought she had placed her bets on Jack Smith, but all Jack Smith could offer was an apology and nothing else.
For the first time, she wanted to take it seriously, even considering marrying Jack Smith, but what did she get in return? Jack Smith resolutely wanted to break up with her, without a hint of a chance to turn back.
In the dim light, Luna stood next to Charlotte, watching as Charlotte was born and slowly took all the love their parents once gave her, and finally, even Jack Smith.
She wasn’t stupid; Jack Smith never said it outright. But just after meeting Charlotte once, after being stuck in an elevator together, he didn’t hesitate to propose breaking up. Luna didn’t even want to talk about it; her pride and dignity were shattered.
Surely, Atlas Hallow wasn’t stupid either, wasn’t it obvious the way Jack Smith looked at Charlotte was different?
In the gloom, her gaze fell on Charlotte, but she inadvertently saw a very obvious and clear hickey behind her ear, blooming like a glaring red cornelia flower, even in such light.
Atlas Hallow isn’t close to women. Isn’t that because he can’t?
It felt like her heart was struck by a heavy iron hammer, with a dull pain, feeling very uncomfortable.
Luna casually turned on the room’s lights, and the beautiful crystal lights began pouring out golden streams, instantly illuminating everything.
She stood in front of Charlotte, and the high-heeled Charlotte was a bit taller than her. Luna, barefoot, moved as if studying a monster, looking at Charlotte from head to toe, as if not wanting to miss a single detail.
Charlotte didn’t avoid it, instead meeting Luna’s gaze, as if both wanted to understand and convince each other.
When Charlotte was unprepared, Luna suddenly reached out her hand, using all her strength to tear open Charlotte’s shirt. The two buttons that ripped fell onto the carpet silently but shocked Charlotte.
She had never seen Luna like this, apart from those small stitched scars on her face, Luna seemed crazed and twisted.
Even though they were sisters, she wasn’t accustomed to exposing her body in front of Luna. Instinctively, she tried to pull her shirt together, but Luna pounced mercilessly: "Charlotte, where did these marks on your body come from, tell me..."
Luna seemed possessed, desperately tearing at Charlotte’s clothes until the shirt was ruined.
"Did you steal a man? Hahaha... So even the perfect daughter in Mom and Dad’s eyes can’t resist loneliness..." Luna suddenly felt a bit happy, as if discovering Charlotte’s fatal weakness: "But don’t implicate us with what you do. If Atlas Hallow finds out, go die on your own. Don’t drag us down; after all, the Miller Family has never had a woman like that." Her voice turned from mocking and ridiculing to dark and malicious.
"I didn’t steal a man, nor will I implicate the Miller Family, you don’t have to think too much." Charlotte looked at her seemingly deranged sister, pulled her shirt back on, and turned to return to her room in the Miller Family home. Fortunately, she still had her old clothes, and over the years, her body hadn’t changed much, so she could still wear them.
