Building The Strongest Family Chapter 229

As the first light of dawn spilled over the manicured hedges and polished iron gates of the Osborn Estate, it was like golden syrup drizzling over ivory silk.

A gentle breeze stirred the dew-kissed roses blooming along the stone paths, while birds chirped a melodic chorus from the towering sycamores that framed the courtyard.

Perched on a gentle rise overlooking Neo-Luminara’s lush residential highland, the estate radiated quiet majesty.

Tall windows shimmered with reflected sunlight, and the scent of freshly cut grass mingled with blooming jasmine and the distant aroma of brewing coffee.

Inside this grand mansion, life was already in full swing.

Servants bustled quietly through marble-floored corridors, their footfalls muffled beneath plush scarlet runners.

Alfred, the long-serving chief steward, stood near the grand staircase with clipboard in hand, overseeing morning operations like a general commanding a peaceful battalion.

"Ensure Madam Margaret’s Earl Grey is precisely 72 degrees," he murmured to a footman. "And don’t forget, young Miss Liz prefers her toast unbuttered with starfruit preserves."

In the gleaming kitchens filled with brass pots and ceramic tiles, staff members moved like clockwork; pancakes sizzled on griddles, omelets were folded with artistry, and fresh fruit was sliced into elegant spirals.

Meanwhile, in the grand living room, a cathedral-like expanse adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows and artful alcoves, the main line of the Osborn Family had gathered around a holo-TV wall streaming morning news.

Julian lounged in a navy robe near one corner, legs crossed as he skimmed global financial reports on his holotablet.

His square-rimmed glasses glinted in the light as he frowned at shifting stock projections. "I told them shorting green-energy bonds was premature," he muttered under his breath.

"Still brooding over that failed merger?" Nathaniel Osborn chuckled from his relaxed position on the sofa, sipping black coffee from an elegant porcelain cup.

"I don’t brood; I analyze," Julian shot back without looking up.

Richard occupied an armchair closest to the window, his neatly folded newspaper resting on his lap as he absorbed news from both sources, the wall screen and Margaret’s animated conversation with Emily about their mother’s upcoming memorial birthday.

"I still think we should do something special for Mom memorial," Margaret suggested softly but persuasively. "A private cruise? Something low-key?"

"I’d love that!" Emily chimed in eagerly as she brushed a strand of chestnut hair behind her ear. "You know how much she adored being near water."

Philip nodded toward his wife Margaret while flipping through estate schedules nearby. "We can handle logistics, we’ve been itching for an excuse to use our new yacht!"

The ladies of the house had gathered in a graceful triad Margaret, Emily, and the wives of Julian, Nathaniel, and Richard creating a vibrant circle around the fireplace.

Their voices ebbed and flowed like gentle waves, punctuated by bursts of laughter that bubbled up in delightful harmony.

Meanwhile, just beyond the glass doors leading to the back veranda, another lively conversation was unfolding.

Ashley, Bella, Eva, Olivia, Charlotte, and little Liz formed their own exclusive club filled with whispers of gossip, playful giggles, and light-hearted teasing.

"So, Charlotte," Olivia drawled as she swirled her steaming mug of tea like a magician revealing a secret trick, "is it true you’re seeing someone from the Ministry of Trade?"

Charlotte’s cheeks flushed slightly but she quickly regained her composure. "Just coffee."

"Twice a week," Ashley chimed in with a mischievous grin that could rival any cat’s.

"It’s still just coffee," Charlotte insisted again, though her smile betrayed her excitement.

Liz leaned forward eagerly like an inquisitive puppy. "Does he wear a suit? Is he tall? Does he have that secret-agent vibe like big brother Arthur?"

The girls exchanged glances before erupting into laughter.

"Big brother Arthur’s more of a... ’glare-and-the-room-freezes’ kind of vibe," Charlotte said with mock seriousness. "Cool but also scary as hell."

"He’s not scary," Bella interjected thoughtfully. "Just... intense."

Across the room at their own enclave near the bookshelf-lined wall stood Edward, William, George, and Oscar, each engrossed in their discussion about last night’s VR Arena finals.

"Neo-Draco took home the championship!" Edward exclaimed while tossing a cushion from hand to hand like it was an extension of his excitement.

"Not surprised," William replied casually. "Their new recruit, what’s his name? Kael? He’s insane in close-quarters combat."

George nodded vigorously. "Yeah! I saw the highlights; he made everyone else look like NPCs!"

Oscar remained quiet but smirked knowingly while his eyes were glued to the sports section on the holo-TV nearby, a cluster of schematics resembling car engines strewn across the table beside him.

Just then Alfred entered silently behind two maids who bore silver trays laden with steaming mugs and dainty breakfast tarts that looked too good to resist.

"Breakfast will be served in precisely twenty minutes," Alfred announced with impeccable timing. "Master Arthur is still in his study; if there are any urgent matters..."

"No need," Richard waved dismissively. "Let him rest; he’s been running this family at breakneck speed lately, he deserves some peace."

Everyone nodded in agreement as if sharing an unspoken bond.

For a brief moment, the atmosphere transformed into that sacred hush only old families share not an empty silence, but a warm embrace of familiarity where every breath felt like it belonged to kin.

Suddenly, the holo-TV flickered to life, displaying a live broadcast of the Aurelian Federation’s latest trade bill announcements.

Julian’s eyes sparkled with intrigue. "Now that," he murmured, "is a bill that’ll shake up our supply chains."

"I’ll bet Arthur already saw this coming," Nathaniel chimed in, lifting his cup with a knowing grin.

"Of course he did," Richard replied with a chuckle. "That boy doesn’t just sleep; he strategizes even in his dreams."

Even in his absence, Arthur’s presence was palpable, like an invisible thread weaving through their conversations and laughter, binding them together despite the physical distance.

Charlotte glanced toward the grand staircase and asked, "Do you think he’ll join us for breakfast today?"

"Doubt it," Eva said with a shrug. "Not unless Alfred drags him out."

"I heard he’s been working on some kind of... secret project," Oscar whispered conspiratorially.

Ashley raised an eyebrow playfully. "When isn’t he?"

"Yeah! It’s as if there’s always something pushing him forward," Edward added with an amused shake of his head.

Laughter erupted around the table as Liz skipped over to the piano at the far end of the room, her fingers dancing over the keys to play a cheerful morning tune.

The light notes mingled with golden rays streaming through the windows, filling the space with warmth and joy.

"Play something for us, Liz!" Emily encouraged enthusiastically.

Liz beamed back at her family. "Okay! But you have to sing along!"

And just like that, the Osborn Estate’s morning crescendoed softly, music blending seamlessly with family chatter, the gentle clink of porcelain cups, buzzing news updates, and that ever-present promise of another day for one of the city’s most powerful families.

Though Arthur had yet to make his appearance, no one doubted that somewhere behind those locked study doors, their quiet-eyed leader was watching closely, listening intently and planning meticulously for whatever lay ahead.
