Calculating My Way To Immortality Chapter 4

Yu Tian was back at it again, sweat beading on his forehead and his face contorting to form thousands of expressions in a single second as he struggled to guide the qi into the pathways with the highest chances of survival.

The pain was unbearable, a whole different world compared to the earlier pain.

But even through this pain, he didn’t give up. He couldn’t give up. Follow current novᴇls on NovᴇlFɪre.nᴇt

It was already past midnight. He’d lived past the day. He had sworn that if he lived past the day, he would never give up.

"So what if I don’t have a Divine grade spiritual root? So what if I don’t have a Saint Body? So what if my enlightenment is only basic? So what if I’m just a servant?" he thought.

To hell with all that. He didn’t care anymore.

He didn’t care if he lived, he didn’t care if he died, but as long as there was still a chance, he would never give up. He was okay with living in the morning and dying by sundown, but even as he expected to fall by sundown, he would give it his all.

He was going to... calculate his way to immortality.

As these thoughts were racing in his mind, he suddenly felt a slight headache, like something was moving in his head. Then suddenly, he felt something snap, as if a barrier had been lifted. He felt his mind become completely clear.

This is... he was wondering, but he gave up on the thought.

Now wasn’t the time for that.

Before, although he had recovered, his mind was still a little tired, but now, thanks to this mental clarity, he was able to calculate even faster and also make his moves much more quickly. He continuously circulated the bubbling energy.

As he circulated it more and more, the energy began to turn into a round shape.

It then solidified and settled below his dantian. He then felt the sensation of something hammering down on him as the ball of energy condensed itself even more, hammering itself until it turned into a solid core.

He exhaled deeply, opening his eyes.

It was already dawn. He had survived a night in the Black Forest. But more importantly, he had succeeded.

He clenched his fist. He could feel his strength had risen once again. He had broken through to the sixth layer of body refining, breaking through three layers in a row.

This was unprecedented. Not even the geniuses of the sect could do this.

Well, the geniuses didn’t have a seventh-grade herb and an OP calculation ability, so maybe it was an unfair comparison.

As he was thinking of this, he suddenly felt the cold feeling of metal against his neck.

His body instantly froze.

40%? That wasn’t bad, he thought.

He wondered if it wasn’t a bandit.

"Umm, can we talk?" he asked, raising his hands.

"Don’t move or I’ll cut your head clean off. Trust me, I also look good in red," a voice spoke behind him.

"A girl?" he wondered aloud.

"What about it? You want to test your chances against a girl?" she asked.

Yu Tian smiled nervously. No need for that, I’ve already calculated them, he thought.

"Why are you so angry? Aren’t you the one who ambushed me at my home? Why don’t we just talk it out?" he said, trying to calm her down.

"At your home? What home? I was clearly here before you," she retorted.

"What?" Yu Tian responded in shock. He used his calculation ability and confirmed that it was indeed true, she was here before him.

He wondered how he had missed it.

He sighed. Well, he had come here when it was dark and his mind and body were already tired, so he didn’t bother to check.

Dammit, he had been careless.

The girl looked at him, her guard dropping slightly after seeing his reaction.

She thought to herself that when she had woken up, she had seen him and assumed he had done something to her. But judging from his reaction, he had probably walked in here when it was dark and didn’t notice that there was someone inside.

Checking her body, she felt that indeed, no one had touched her.

Even so, she couldn’t just let him go.

In every sense of the word, he was definitely suspicious.

He seemed not to have reached the ninth layer of body refining, so what was he doing in the Black Forest? Besides, there was something strange she could sense from him, something similar to a beast.

She hardened her grip on her sword.

Was it a beast transforming into human form?

She had heard of such a thing before. She began to tremble. A beast able to transform into human, just what level was it?

At least a Divine beast. No, she couldn’t let it go. If she did, the sect would be...

As she was having these thoughts, Yu Tian saw his chances of survival slowly declining.

He wondered what he had done wrong.

As the chances decreased lower and lower, he was calculating in his head each response he had, scoring each response by chances of survival after saying it. He was beginning to get nervous as most of them were getting a zero percent chance - that was basically an instant death upon saying it.

As he was looking for something to say, his chances suddenly went back up, settling at eighty percent. He was surprised by this, wondering how fast the lady was changing her thoughts. She really scared him.

As he thought of this, he felt the sword brush against his shoulder, followed by a thud. He turned around to notice the girl who had been threatening him with her sword.

She was pretty and had nice clothes - probably some nobleman’s daughter.

She also seemed to be about his age.

"Wait... I think I’ve seen this person before," he thought.

Su Xueling looked up at Yu Tian who was approaching her.

Dammit! How could I have forgotten? she thought. She was already injured before, that’s how she had ended up lying here. Now with all that movement, her injuries were relapsing.

She looked at the approaching Yu Tian.

Was she really going to be defiled here? No, she wasn’t going to let this happen. She still had that trump card from her father. Even if it would probably kill her too if she used it, she wasn’t going to let some stranger defile her.

Just as she was about to summon her treasure, Yu Tian suddenly knelt on one knee.

"I greet Lady Su," he said with cupped fists.
