Gu Anxi bit her lip. "I’m going to hand in my resignation at Emperor’s Color tonight."
A subtle smirk touched Bo Xichen’s eyes. "Do you need me to accompany you?"
"No need, I can go by myself." Gu Anxi waved her hand and headed to the ward. She had dinner with Granny Chen and then went to Emperor’s Color.
The manager was reluctant to see her leave. With Gu Anxi at the front desk, it was like having a money-printing machine there. Business in the bar’s main area had dropped by 30% during the week she was absent. What a painful loss! And now this ungrateful brat wants to quit!
The manager kept increasing her offered salary, even up to 1,100 per night, but Gu Anxi still refused to stay. Out of options, the manager had no choice but to let her go. He settled her outstanding wages on the spot.
Just as Gu Anxi was about to leave, a waiter hurried over and whispered something to the manager.
The manager looked surprised, then glanced at Gu Anxi. "The boss wants to see you."
"There’s no need! Goodbye, Manager Lin," Gu Anxi said, opening the door.
Two rows of men in black suits and sunglasses stood at the doorway.
Gu Anxi thought: It’s the middle of the night. Can they even see?
Manager Lin approached, smiling. "Don’t be afraid. The boss just wants to meet you."
Gu Anxi turned her head. "What’s wrong with him? Is he crazy?"
The manager, looking quite innocent, rubbed his nose. The boss really is crazy, but I can’t just say it out loud, can I?
Escorted by a few dozen men in black, Gu Anxi walked to an office door.
Manager Lin personally opened the door for her. "Miss Gu, please."
Gu Anxi shot him a glare, then stepped into the pitch-black room.
The door closed behind her.
Inside, it was truly pitch-black, so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
Gu Anxi stood still, barely making out a blurry shadow on the sofa opposite her.
"You’re rather brave." The man spoke, his tone teasing, his voice sounding quite young.
Gu Anxi’s voice was cold. "You’re not so young yourself!"
The man chuckled softly. "Doesn’t that make us a good match? Consider becoming the lady boss here. I’ll take very good care of you."
Gu Anxi took two steps forward.
The man uttered a few more flirtatious remarks, but within moments, his wails of pain echoed.
Gu Anxi was pummelling him—
"So you think I’m brave?"
"You want me to be your lady boss?"
"Hurt? Weren’t you just saying you’d take good care of me?"
Outside, the manager and the bodyguards exchanged glances... So intense! It turns out Young Master Gu is into this sort of thing!
