"Do you think Jael is really upset?" Caspian asked with furrowed brows, piling Asher’s plate high with way too much chicken.
"He’s not," Asher said confidently, letting him do whatever he wanted. "He probably has somewhere to be."
With the conversation ending there, the table went silent and that was because Caspian would rather not address the misunderstanding that made Jael leave the dinner table early.
He was still yet to make his hospital visit, he didn’t want to make his abstinence harder than it already was.
Dinner felt a tad empty with Jael presence, and although Asher had reassured him that it was fine, Caspian was still worried.
That only lasted until he was settled on Asher watching crime shows. He was so happy and content that if he were a cat, he’d be purring.
And Jael had been right, falling asleep was easy, Asher’s scent and body heat put him right to sleep after hours of watching shows.
Caspian said his sleepy goodbyes to Asher the next morning, but he didn’t go back to sleep, sitting up with a determined expression on his face.
He had a packed schedule today, but first he had to get the visit to Doctor Brianna out of the way.
Caspian got out of bed and got clean, dressing up. He had spent a lot of time thinking about the function he would be going to with Asher.
And it had been a long time since he cared so much about what to wear, not since he tried to hide his gender.
But Bella should really have kept ignoring him because now he was going to go over and beyond to get back at her.
Being with a filthy rich Mafia King was lovely because he could back up his words... with his lover’s money, of course.
After breakfast, he headed out, being the one to ask for his bodyguards this time.
He hadn’t seen them ever since their visit to the pool, but it had been a couple of crazy days since then.
"I need to do a lot today," He let them know as soon as they were on their way to the hospital.
"And you will not be telling Asher," He tagged on at the familiar look they shot each other. "It’s a surprise."
He could see the tension ease from the men’s shoulders, and he had to fight the urge to roll his eyes.
Caspian wasn’t saying that so that they wouldn’t tell Asher, he really wanted it to be a surprise.
It wasn’t something Caspian would have ever thought to do on his own, but he would be getting his hair done, as well as his nails and other things he didn’t know the name to yet.
He would also need to get an outfit for the function.
He schemed and plotted all the way to the hospital, Doctor Brianna waiting for him in the parking lot.
Even though he had told her not to worry, the kindly doctor made sure to pick him up and walk him back to the parking lot.
Brianna had been happy to see him, praising the color in his cheeks and pointing out that he wasn’t as skeletal as the last time she saw him.
Caspian had just wanted to get the go ahead from her and was relieved to hear that his fractured rib had healed perfectly.
He had been a little worried that helping Asher out with his rut would have some dire effect, but Brianna hadn’t even asked about that.
His checkup was all done in less than an hour and he could get started on his plans for the day.
Brianna walked him to the parking lot and waved him off, adjusting her pink frames as she watched him walk over to his waiting bodyguards.
Caspian got into the car and immediately directed his guards to take him to where he wanted to go next.
If they had questions about why he wanted to go to a beauty salon, they kept it to themselves.
Caspian was even too distracted for a conversation, making mental plans on how to fit all he needed to do in time to get ready for the function.
He would leave the outfit he planned to get for last, because if he was being honest, he didn’t know what to wear.
His fashion sense was still the same as his fifteen-year-old self, if anything, dressing up as a woman had been easier.
There were just so many more options...
Unlike the hospital which was a familiar and safe space, Keith and Peter were quick to get out of the car to accompany him into the beauty salon.
"If you’re coming in with me, you have to get your nails done." Caspian threatened lightly.
That only made them hesitate for a split second, both men sticking close to him despite his words.
Caspian didn’t try to discourage them again, sitting serenely as the huge dangerous men were intimidated into dainty chairs by impatient nail technicians.
"Do you know what color and design you’d like to get?" The young Beta attending to him asked with a smile, ignoring the sight of a dead-eyed Keith in her line of sight.
Caspian asked for recommendations and studied them intently, this was very serious for him.
He usually just did his nails himself, so he knew next to nothing about getting them done professionally.
He would have just done them himself like he did every other time, but Bella’s nails had been perfectly manicured, his chunky nail polish work wouldn’t be able to best her.
His eyes were immediately drawn to a design that was dark red and pointy at the tip, the perfect design to claw a person’s eyes out.
"How about this?" He pointed it out to his nail technician.
Her eyes lit up at it, the both of them ignoring Peter’s sharp yowl of pain, and his nail tech immediately scolding him for moving.
"It’s elegant, perfect for formal events," She said approvingly.
