Captive Mate BL Chapter 186

While they watched movies, Jael did indeed have people over to fix the doors.

Caspian barely focused on the shows they watched, barely refraining from constantly asking about Asher like he really wanted to.

He waited patiently till evening drew closer before he broke the companionable silence.

"Do you think... Asher can eat dinner with us tonight?"

Jael looked away from the screen and over at him, he didn’t protest because he could tell that this had been on Caspian’s mind for hours.

He was honestly surprised that the Omega had held out for this long.

"Why don’t we go find out?" He suggested decisively, rising to his feet.

Caspian got to his feet hastily as well, a little surprised that Jael hadn’t protested even a little bit.

Now that they were on their way to Asher, Caspian was starting to wish that he had stalled for as long as he could.

Because as much as he wanted to see for himself that Asher was alright, he also wanted to avoid the Alpha just as much.

"Maybe you should wait out here," Jael said when they got to the guarded door.

The men smiled nervously at Caspian when Jael went in, and he could only distractedly nod, trying to listen in on the conversation Asher and Jael might be having.

He flinched a bit when the door opened shortly after, even though Jael had been gentle with his action.

Jael didn’t step out of the room, instead he stepped back in as an inviting gesture.

Caspian silently stepped in, questions brimming on his tongue, curiosity brightening his eyes.

He walked past Jael when he shared gazes with Asher, uncaring that the Beta just hung at the door to give them as much privacy as he could manage.

"Hi," Caspian smiled serenely, completely forgetting about his earlier slip up for the moment.

He got on the bed, nervously keeping his hands to himself. Asher looked like he had woken up for a restful nap.

"How do you feel?" He asked when Asher just seemed to be content to stare at him and say nothing.

Caspian didn’t remember closing the distance between them, crystal blue eyes glassy as he partially laid across Asher to bring their faces closer.

"You left without saying anything," The words spilled out unbidden, his red-stained lips pouting. "You didn’t call back."

Asher lifted his head slightly so that their foreheads were touching, his dark red hair was tousled from sleep, his limbs slack against the sheets.

"I’m sorry, I was being a coward." The Alpha admitted, his voice gentle for all its raspy quality.

Caspian wasn’t mad, he just missed the Alpha too...And he admitted that as well with a wobbling bottom lip and stinging eyes... That he also missed him, terribly.

"Don’t leave without saying something again," He scolded, his voice too soft to carry the full weight of his intention. "Take me with you next time."

Asher’s smile was contagious, "Won’t you be busy?" He said without really meaning it.

Caspian huffed, remembering how unbearable Asher’s absence had been. "I’ll make time. Besides, I’ve not been busy since you left, the kitchen more or less handles everything."

"Are you hurt?" Asher murmured after a short stretch of silence.

They were both alone in the room, Jael long gone after figuring out that they would be fine.

But just like they hadn’t noticed his presence when he had hung back to keep an eye on them, neither of them noticed when he silently slipped out of the room and dismissed the guards.

Caspian had been about to automatically reply that Asher would never hurt him, but he had, even if he hadn’t meant to.

And denying that wasn’t healthy for either of them.

"I’m fine," He kept up their whispering in low tones, his fingers trailing into Asher’s hair almost of their own volition.

"And you? It had to hurt breaking those doors down."

Asher chuckled at his words, the sound rumbling through him as he partially laid on him.

"Not at the moment, it stings a little though." He answered openly, looking past Caspian to the door for the first time. "I know Jael is ticked off."

"He was mostly concerned," Caspian shrugged.

He could lay here and talk to Asher until dawn came, but they had to eat dinner, and Asher was still in chains...

"Will you join us for dinner?"

Asher moved properly for the first time since he stepped into the room, his heavy chains dragging against the soft sheets and clinking against each other.

"Sure, just get Jael to get me out of this," He agreed easily.

Caspian just pulled out his phone, not wanting to take his eyes off Asher.

It felt like if he did, he would look back to find the Alpha’s striking hazel-gold eyes devoid of recognition.

Jael was over in no time, taking his time to carefully unwind Asher’s chains.

He worked in silence, no one saying a thing for a few minutes, nothing but the sound of chains to be heard.

No one asked the question of if Asher could break through those chains, even though it would have been the perfect joke at the moment.

And that was because there was a genuine possibility that Asher could do that, so no one brought it up.

"Don’t be late to dinner," Jael cautioned them as he walked out.

Which was really rich coming from him considering that he usually went ahead and started eating without them.

Asher didn’t get out of the bed even though he was free, sitting up propped against the headboard as the door closed behind Jael.

Caspian’s attention was completely focused on him, going easily when the Alpha beckoned him closer.

Caspian went easily when Asher pulled him into his arms, curled up in his Alpha’s arms like he had been craving for the past few days.

He rested the side of his face against Asher’s chest, the Alpha heartbeat was strong and steady against his ear.

The hug was comforting at first, but now that everything else was out of the way, all that was left was his lingerie-wearing pastimes.
