Davian watched Lake nap at the kitchen island under the guise of watching him prepare lunch. He had tried to convince him to wait somewhere more comfortable, but Lake had been adamant.
So the Omega was sprawled across the marble countertop, wearing one of his dress shirts and comfortable pajama bottoms. He let Lake nap in the kitchen, knowing that this was the only time he could have his mate being so clingy.
When they returned to Haines in a week, Lake would be too busy to hang off his arm all day, and insist on keeping him company.
Davian hadn’t told him about the call he had gotten from Jael regarding Rosie, he knew their secretary was safe, but there were times he genuinely considered ending the vacation early for her sake. After all, she was part of the family now, and Lake no doubt missed the life they left behind.
He approached Lake, his mate’s hair had grown slightly longer in the weeks they had spent on the island, his wavy, coffee brown hair holding sunlight as it fell over his folded arms to the marble top. He pressed a kiss to his hair, gently rousing him, "Lunch is ready, love."
Lake lifted his head, soft brown eyes looking up at him, "I’m not sleeping," He immediately defended, even though Davian had said nothing about that.
Davian smiled slow, "I can see that," He noted in a teasing tone. "Let’s eat in the living room, it’s more comfortable."
Lake got to his feet and stretched, making his round tummy even more prominent. He had become really sleepy recently, Doctor Perez had checked him over thoroughly and said he was perfectly healthy, he probably just needed more rest because the baby was rapidly growing.
He made his way out of the kitchen first, knowing that Davian wouldn’t let him pick up even a single spoon to take to the living room. He sat heavily on the couch, drowsy again.
Lake hoped he wouldn’t be as tired when they returned to Haines, he was worried about Rosie, and although his secretary reassured him everything was fine each time he called, he wanted to be able to take the weight off her shoulders as soon as they returned.
As soon as Davian sat down, he climbed into his mate’s arms, woken up fully by the sight and scent of the food his mate had prepared. Lake’s appetite had only improved with Davian having nothing else to do but cook and dote on his pregnant mate, putting away large portions of food with ease.
After he was done eating, he curled up in Davian’s arms, his head propped against his shoulder, already dozing off.
Davian was used to this now, at first, he had been extremely worried at Lake’s sudden sleepiness, but now that his fears had been assuaged, he liked how clingy Lake was was he was sleepy.
His mate tucked his face into his neck, nuzzling him, the sweet scent of honey and milk covering up that of the savory food. Davian’s reaction was instantaneous, pleasure pooling at the base of his spine.
It was like Lake’s scent was directly hooked up to his libido, a single whiff had him hard and leaking. Especially as Lake was so tired these days from growing their child that he napped at every chance he got.
Just like before, he always waited for Lake to initiate intimacy, the only difference was that he indulged his mate more on their vacation than he did before. So there was no question that he planned to ignore his body suddenly choosing to be greedy.
Davian was sure that Lake was fast asleep, and although their empty dishes were still on the center table, he had been prepared to sit right there until Lake woke up from his nap. So he was surprised when Lake lifted his head, taking away the soothing balm of his rose water scented shampoo.
The Omega’s eyes drooped, heavy with sleep as he squirmed slightly. "You’re hard."
Davian swallowed, holding his breath so he didn’t lose himself to Lake’s scent. "You should nap first," He forced out, unable to help drawing in a deep breath.
Lake only squirmed more, which only doused the fire starting up in his veins again with gasoline. "It doesn’t matter," He mumbled, clearly fighting a losing battle with sleep.
Davian held him close to stop his squirming, teeth clenched. "I’ll be fine after you wake up..."
Lake didn’t even seem to be listening, but he stopped squirming, "Help me take my pants off," He requested, throwing his arms around Davian’s neck to prop himself up slightly.
Davian moved on instinct, his head fogging up as the scent of rose water completely disappeared, milk and honey lingering on his tongue with every breath. Getting Lake’s pajama bottoms off was pretty easy, the Omega sitting back down on him.
"Fuck," Davian cursed under his breath, even without smelling it, he could feel Lake’s slick seeping through the thin silk of his pants. He felt Lake’s shiver because his mate clung to him tightly, his breaths quickening.
"H-Hurry," Lake urged impatiently, he felt so empty inside, and he didn’t like that.
"I need to prep you," Davian said calmly despite his trembling hands.
