Captive Mate BL Chapter 89

"Drew! What do you think you’re doing?" Tammy cut him off again, stepping forward.

Warren was quickly starting to catch onto what was happening, "What’s going on? Drew? Tammy?"

Drew remained calm in the face of chaos; he quickly figured that he had been played for a fool by the stranger...

But he wasn’t here because of that... He was tired.

Tired of holding the weight of his secret, of the people around him knowing that he knew something about the accident.

He was also tired of the guilt, Luna Tammy just carried on with her life like it never happened.

"Luna Tammy paid me off with sex to tamper with Alpha Victor’s car." He said bluntly.

There was no sugarcoating it. There was no fancy wording he could use to change what had long happened.

Tammy was horrorstruck, slowly shaking her head at her mate who was staring at her, realization dawning on him.

The ’sex’ part was new news to Jael, he hadn’t even heard that part before.

"You killed Paris?" Warren whispered, his voice cracking.

Tammy’s expression shifted to anger at that, "That’s all you care about? You don’t even care that your mate cheated on you?" She demanded like she wasn’t talking about herself.

Warren didn’t hesitate to whip her across her face with the back of his hand, so hard that she stumbled.

"Don’t fucking touch my mom," Noah rushed forward, situating himself in between them.

Warren just glared down at them both, liquid hatred making his black eyes gloss over.

Tammy hid behind her son, "I didn’t even kill the wretched homewrecker," She snarled at him, her perfect bun coming undone.

"I just wanted to teach her a lesson-"

"By tampering with the brakes?" Warren took a menacing step forward.

"I did no such thing," Drew denied vehemently, inserting himself into the conversation.

"I only cut her seat belt... only her seat belt..." He mumbled, his voice devolving into moans of pain like he was losing his mind.

"I didn’t want to kill anyone... I didn’t..."

Jael was quick to usher him outside, it was already chaotic enough without the Beta losing his shit.

He stayed outside as well, there was no reason for him to be further involved in the matter.

Amid the chaos, the one person that hadn’t moved a muscle was Caspian.

He watched the scene in front of him like it was an old movie on a shitty TV with static.

His ears felt like they were filled with water and his breaths came out stilted.

His parents had been killed...

The circumstances didn’t matter, and he couldn’t care less about them.

He stumbled a bit, his vision swimming in front of him even as Warren shoved Noah to the side and punched Tammy right in the face.

Strong arms wrapped around him, Asher’s scent filling his lungs even as the scene in the room turned straight hellish.

Tammy was wailing in pain, Noah barely able to hold his raging father down.

Caspian didn’t want to wait to see the rest of it play out.

He had already found the answers he came looking for, and he honestly couldn’t care less if Warren murdered his mate in his anger.

A blood-curdling cry of pain rang from the office when they were already down the hallway.

It sounded like it had come from Warren and it vocalized how he felt inside.

Pack members rushed to Warren’s office at all the ruckus they were making in there.

Asher guided Caspian outside, keeping him close. He looked a little shaken but other than that, his blue eyes were clear as he spoke.

"I want to visit my parents’ graves."

The request was unexpected but Asher took it in stride, agreeing immediately.

Jael was a short distance away with the rest of the men, Drew nowhere in sight. His second-in-command wisely gave them some space.

Now that the truth had been revealed, they had no worries about the High Council being summoned.

Whatever would happen next was all up to Caspian, and he was willing to wait for how long he needed to put himself together.

Caspian slowly clicked his seat belt in, the words spoken in Warren’s office whirling around in his head like a tornado.

He had grown numb to the circumstances around his parents’ death, never revisiting it to spare himself the insanity.

But now, the memories were fresh, it felt like he couldn’t breathe.

He pictured the seat belt failing and his mom going through the windshield, and his father losing control of the wheel when that happened.

He had no details on the matter but his tortured brain provided him with memories regardless, like he had been there.

"...breathe. Caspian?"

He snapped out of it and stared at Asher, realizing that he still hadn’t done up the seat belt and they were still in the parking lot, the belt held loosely in his hand.

"Sorry." He mumbled, pushing into the mechanism for real this time.

"There’s nothing to apologize for," Asher said gruffly.

Caspian was able to focus on him now, pulled out of his spiraling thoughts by the Alpha’s presence.

"You’re right." He corrected, his tone oddly quiet. "I should have said thankyou."

"There’s no need for that either," Asher replied in a much gentler tone, putting the car in gear.

Caspian gave directions to the cemetery where his parents were buried, it wasn’t that far from the Pack House.

The graveyard was a small one, with overgrown grass and wildflowers swaying in the wind.

The gates were perpetually open and the sun’s warmth didn’t seem to reach the cemetery.

It was uncharacteristically cold as Caspian led the way unerringly to his parents’ graves.

He had only been here once, at the funeral. He had watched with burning but dry eyes as their coffins were lowered, standing all alone in black.

He hadn’t cried then, his tears had been trapped in his chest cavity just like his parents had been in the wooden boxes that held their lifeless bodies.
