Xu Xiaoyan came downstairs with Little Dark-skinned Girl, and as soon as she saw Yan Fei, she asked him if he had come up with any good ideas to help with selling things last night.
Yan Fei reached into his bag and pulled out the two toys he had bought, handing them to the girl with a smile, "Hold these and shake them as you go along, you’ll attract customers. If you can’t shout out, at least you can answer if someone asks you, right?"
Xu Xiaoyan stared at the toys in bewilderment, "Would this work? This seems too... too... what’s the word...?"
Yan Fei grinned, "Too what? Isn’t this how those peddlers who traveled to the villages sold their goods? As long as it attracts people, it’s good, why do you care? If this doesn’t work, I’m out of ideas!"
Xu Xiaoyan still wanted to say something, but Little Dark-skinned Girl piped up first, "Fair enough, let the two of them give it a try. Back when things were good in our village, vendors would come in with these toy drums to attract children. If they could do it, we definitely can!"
How bad are conditions in your village now? Even traveling peddlers shaking drums no longer visit your place! Yan Fei muttered in his heart.
Right, the two little things Yan Fei bought were indeed a couple of cheap toy drums. This was his plan, after all, any method that gets the stuff sold was a good method!
Seeing that Little Dark-skinned Girl agreed, Xu Xiaoyan decided not to say anything more.
At mealtime, the girl saw the braised carp and learned that he had caught it at night and found a place to cook it. She was both surprised and admonished him, complaining continuously that the Yellow River was too dangerous to go fishing at night.
The girl never considered that it was the creatures in the Yellow River that were truly in danger once this guy entered the river!
After the meal, the two no longer cared about Little Dark-skinned Girl going to deliver the toy drums. It took them the entire morning to find a suitable apartment near the school that both were satisfied with.
Xu Xiaoyan was satisfied with the cheap rent, considering it’s on the top floor.
What Yan Fei was satisfied with wasn’t the price, but the fact that it was on the top floor - the reason for which was self-explanatory.
It took half a day to tidy up the apartment and buy the missing necessities. They even bumped into Little Dark-skinned Girl’s family on the street, shaking the toy drum. They learned that the drum was quite effective. With a lower price than others, business was pretty good.
After tidying up the apartment, Yan Fei was kicked out, the girl knew he still had to buy bees. He had been away for several days and she no longer tolerated him slacking around here.
Old Gu, the beekeeper, happened to be at home. Seeing that Yan Fei bought two boxes of bees at once, he passed on a lot of beekeeping experience to him. Though these days, Yan Fei had copied a lot of beekeeping knowledge from books, Old Gu’s experience was learned from practice, each had its own advantages.
The combination of the two made him acquire a new skill in beekeeping - albeit yet to be tested in practice.
When he left with the bees, it was almost dark. He found a secluded place to enter Vegetable Garden Island, set down the two boxes of bees along with a makeshift hut to protect them from the rain, only then did Yan Fei feel relieved.
Now, he doesn’t have to worry about the fruits in Vegetable Garden Island not yielding much.
At the moment, the sky of Vegetable Garden Island was still bright, after setting up the hut and releasing the bees, the busy buzz around made the whole pond area teeming with vitality.
This harmonious scene was suddenly broken by wild howling.
Yan Fei, who was about to deliver the fish he caught to the circular lake, turned his head to see: Two out of three dogs were barking, with their tongues out and mouths wide open. The other one stayed far away from the bee boxes, not daring to approach.
The remnants of a bee on the tongue of one of the howling dogs informed Yan Fei about what had just happened.
Obviously, these three hadn’t recognized the bees yet. Having grown up on Vegetable Garden Island, they had never experienced the might of these tiny creatures. It wasn’t strange that the two foolish dogs got stung, considering the bees had just moved into a new home and were on high alert!
The pitiful sights of the two unfortunate fellows were unbearable. They whimpered, rubbed their mouths against the ground, and scratched around their mouths with their paws.
He initially wanted the two to learn a lesson but seeing their discomfort, Yan Fei decided to help them out.
He grabbed one of the dogs, that had grown up under his care and were very obedient. He opened its mouth, pulled its tongue, and easily pulled out the bee sting.
That dog immediately felt much better.
The other one was smart enough not to wait for Yan Fei to stand up to grab it but ran over itself.
It seemed that raising them wasn’t in vain, Yan Fei thought, as he relieved the second dog from its pain.
He reckoned they wouldn’t mess with those little bees again.
Delayed by the dogs, Yan Fei continued to throw the fish into the circular lake. Now that there were no Kronosaurus in the lake, and the catfish had been almost entirely eaten, these fish no longer had predators. In no time, the number of fish in the lake would increase.
Of course, relying on just this isn’t enough. He’d have to find some time to go to the reservoir and catch more fish to throw in. He’d never have to worry about not having fish to eat, or rather, not having ’visible fish’ to eat.
After all this, he stubbornly went back to the river’s estuary, caught a large fish, cleaned it, and started stewing it - consistent effort grinds away metal. He firmly believed that by trying each kind of fish, he’d eventually find something delicious.
After cleaning up everything, he could finally head back to Sancha River.
Haven’t been to the cattle farm for a few days, he began to worry about his little business there, whether there would be any unexpected incidents, especially the two greenhouses that Heizi was looking after. It wasn’t that he was afraid of Heizi neglecting, but that he might not understand even if he put his heart into it.
There is a saying that risk comes with moving around a lot at night.
He hadn’t even flown out of the jurisdiction of Provincial City when he noticed something was off about the highway below.
Normally, he wouldn’t need to fly over the highway, as he could fly home directly. Once out of the city, he didn’t have to follow the road.
But he had just bought bees today, so part of his path intersected with the highway below.
Hence, he noticed. At various intersections in Provincial City, there were cops everywhere setting up checkpoints, and apparently with the assistance of armed police in steel helmets and holding rifles.
This wasn’t the case when he went out to buy bees in the afternoon! Without a doubt, something big must’ve happened.
Just as Yan Fei was hovering in the air, guessing what had happened, a black sedan seized the opportunity when the car in front just got let through, and sped past the checkpoint, the driver fleeing wildly.
The patrol car behind quickly started up and chased after it, sirens blaring.
A highway chase between the cops and the robbers commenced right then.
