When he returned to the greenhouse, Yan Fei entered the Vegetable Garden Island, checking on the little bears, tigers, and dinosaur chicks.
They were still very lively and vibrant; it didn’t seem like they would pass away anytime soon.
After taking a tour around Vegetable Garden Island, he came out and saw two big dogs with six puppies at the entrance. This instantly gave him a headache.
He definitely couldn’t keep all six puppies here. Once they grew up, if he was not home due to some reason, it would be a hassle for others to feed them. Instead, he figured he might as well find an excuse to move them to another place.
He might as well send them all out to the valley to raise them!
There, they’d have their three siblings, and they might have a nice family reunion.
As for after receiving them in, he didn’t plan to take them out in the future.
The first two dogs he raised didn’t stay in the valley very long and were brought out rather early. They were not entirely fed dinosaur meat afterward, so now they only looked slightly better than normal dogs. Although their size made each first-time viewer praise them, it wasn’t really a big deal.
Yet, these three dogs that stayed in the valley and grew there were much more impressive. They weren’t even one-year-old yet, but they had already grown to more than 50 to 60 kilograms, which was bigger than their parents. They were majestic and Yan Fei felt they might even grow a bit more.
The climate inside the dinosaur world was good and food was abundant, making everything grow stronger. Yan Fei was planning to see if the puppies would become even bigger when they gave birth in the future, just like how watermelons grow bigger each time. If the dogs kept breeding over generations, wouldn’t they become gigantic wolves?
As he held the puppies, the adult dogs looked reluctant to part. Yan Fei comforted them, regardless of whether they understood him or not, "These rascals should have been weaned off their mother’s milk a long time ago. You can’t continue to feed them forever, can you?"
Later, he just simply carried the adult dog into the valley too, showing them how their children were living there.
When he brought the adult dog back out, it looked much more relieved. Obviously, having lived in the dinosaur world before, it remembered that it was a good place.
Looking at the two big dogs basking lazily in the sun, Yan Fei felt that he may be able to start living the life of a delightful and happy small landlord.
With nothing to do, he moved all the little animals from Vegetable Garden Island out into the greenhouse where it was warmer. He didn’t let them out of their cages and just played with them from outside of them.
The martial arts master playing with small animals was indeed unique – he lay on a reclining chair, throwing small pieces of meat towards the cages from a distance, just like practicing throwing darts.
The little creatures weren’t foolish. After scrambling for a couple of pieces of meat, they started staring at him from behind their cages, chattering and making noise.
A big tiger was at his feet, its ears drooping as it lay there, enviously watching the small creatures eating meat.
Having punished this creature for destroying the roses in Vegetable Garden Island, Yan Fei had given it a solid bath in water. Now it was quite obedient. Of course, he washed it on the island where it was warm – a carnivore inevitably has a smell, and it would be disgusting if he didn’t wash it occasionally.
Noticing that it was now somewhat depressed, Yan Fei, in his just and impartial manner, gave it a large piece of meat to reward its good behavior at the moment.
He played around until it was lunchtime, when suddenly he pricked up his ears and heard some dog barks coming from far away.
It was the old man who looked after the bamboo forest coming.
Yan Fei chuckled. He found an old worn-out hemp rope, tied it around the tiger’s neck as if it was a pet dog, and walked towards the old man’s hut.
"Woof, woof...whine, whine..."
The dog of the old man usually hid when it saw Yan Fei, and upon seeing him with a tiger this time, it roared once and then tried to hide in a woodpile. Failing to get inside, it was pulling at its leash, trying to hide within the hut. But the rope was too short for this. In the end, extending pitiful whines, it frantically turned around the wooden stake, to which it was tethered.
The old man was lying on his shabby bed, listening to storytelling on his radio. He was at the part where Zhao Zilong had his famous battle at the Changban Slope, and he found it riveting.
Hearing the dog barking outside, he guessed it was Yan Fei. He lazily got off the bed, gathered his spirits, briskly walked to the door, flung it open, and roared, "Little Yan, are you here to bully me again..."
Before he could finish the sentence, he let out a shout and hastily retreated back into his house, shutting the door tightly, faster than any young lad could do. Then he yelled from behind the door, "Little Yan, where did you get that tiger from? Aren’t you afraid it will eat you?"
Yan Fei laughed, "Don’t worry! My tiger is very obedient. What is there to be afraid of? Come out! It is on a leash!"
The old man, cowering behind the door, seemed to remember seeing Yan Fei holding a rope and leading the tiger and cautiously shouted from inside, "Then you hold onto it, I am coming out!"
"Don’t worry! I’m holding onto it tightly! It is a young tiger and doesn’t have much strength," Yan Fei reassured him confidently.
Only then did the old man hesitantly open the door a crack, peeked out, and then opened the door. As soon as he stepped out of the door, he sprang up as if he was a scared rabbit and slid back in again. This time he did a proper job of closing the dilapidated wooden door, "You son of a... You’re using a worn-out hemp rope to restrain a tiger. Do you think your rope is a Shaking Gold Rope?"
