Catastrophe Containment Facility Chapter 674

Under the light mist, a plane quietly landed at the airport, and the Demon Hunters descended from the aircraft one by one.

Wherever they went, they respected the local customs, so Wen Wen wore the black protective mask he had originally obtained from Lin Zheyuan.

In this city shrouded in mist, wearing a mask was a responsibility to oneself—who knew what strange things could be lurking within the fog.

The group was whisked away by several buses parked outside the airport and taken to a four-star hotel in Nim City where they would stay for three days, waiting for the attendees from all districts to arrive before proceeding together to Hunter Island.

The reason for the three-day wait was partly because the coordinates of Hunter Island were top secret; moving together minimized the chances of exposing the location.

Another reason was a tradition of the Hunters Association; it took the opportunity of gathering skilled Demon Hunters from ten major districts to clear a city with an exceedingly high monster density.

Over a hundred High Order Demon Hunters, even without deliberate action, could strike a significant blow to the city’s monster ecology. The city chosen for each meeting was always different; this time, it was the City of Mist, Nim.

As soon as Wen Wen entered his room, he received a message from Xun Qing, instructing him to roam around Nim City during these three days and deal with anything noteworthy that he encountered.

Wen Wen hadn’t planned on wasting time in the hotel anyway. On his first visit to a district with very different customs, there were many things he wanted to do.

At the very least, he wanted to introduce some native species from the Golden Eagle District to the Sanctuary, establish Surveillance Points in the Golden Eagle District, recruit some local Demon Hunters, and if time allowed, Wen Wen even hoped to establish a Foundation branch there.

Nim City was a metropolis with a population exceeding ten million; no one truly knew how many monsters were hidden there.

A significant part of the city consisted of ancient buildings, giving the city a unique historical charm. However, the prevalence of old architecture also meant there were relatively fewer modern buildings, resulting in a lower population density than other cities.

Thus, the city was very large, so extensive that one Surveillance Point couldn’t cover the entire city—operating at least three Surveillance Points was necessary to monitor every corner.

However, each Surveillance Point consumed a portion of the Sanctuary’s energy, so in order to not operate at a loss in Nim City, Wen Wen definitely had to recruit more Containment Officers.

Wen Wen, along with Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs, walked the streets of Nim City, every building narrating the historical depth of the city, and even the men and women on the streets seemed more refined.

Despite the unsettlingly high density of monsters and pervasive fog, the city was still quite suitable for tourism, providing experiences that couldn’t be found elsewhere; for example, the notorious Nim Dark Cuisine celebrated across the entire Federation.

Wen Wen and Tao Qingqing walked through three blocks, and just in passing, Wen Wen sensed four monsters, though the number he perceived was even more exaggerated.

Tao Qingqing marveled, "It’s unbelievable that this city still functions normally; most of the monsters here must be very restrained."

Wen Wen nodded, which was consistent with the information he had obtained. Many monsters in Nim City had completely integrated into human life, surviving in a way that harmed no one.

Thus, before acting, Xun Qing had instructed them to properly identify the monsters: if they were benign, they should be registered and the information uploaded to the Ranger Terminal; if they were malevolent, then there should be no hesitation in eliminating them.

Additionally, there’s something to note, since too many Demon Hunters had surged in all at once, the number of Supporters here is severely lacking, so try to minimize impact when moving to avoid causing panic.

After walking for a while, Wen Wen’s eyes lit up as he saw a very interesting restaurant named ’Dark Kitchen.’ Outside, there was a sign stating that the owner, Old Tings, was recognized as one of the top four dark cuisine masters in Nim City.

"Coming to Nim City and not experiencing the local dark cuisine would be such a waste."

Tao Qingqing shook her head vigorously and said, "No, I won’t eat it; I think we should find a more normal place!"

Wen Wen snorted coldly, "Huh, I don’t care what you think, I care what I think."

The two of them and a snake eventually entered the Dark Kitchen. The restaurant space was large, but there were only a few scattered people. As soon as they walked in, they received a warm welcome.

Thus, Wen Wen unapologetically ordered several of the local famous dark dishes, including black pudding, haggis, pigeon pie, and others. What Wen Wen looked forward to most was the world-renowned dark cuisine — Gazing at the Universe!

Back when Wen Wen was still a pervert, he was fascinated by these things and had even tried stuff like Surströmming, so coming to a foreign land and not satisfying his curiosity would truly be a disservice to himself.

However, Wen Wen soon realized that he had been too naive; the dark cuisine in this restaurant was all enhanced versions, even Wen Wen could hardly stand it.

For example, the original version of Gazing at the Universe might contain nothing more than sardine heads, but here, it wasn’t just sardines; it was a mishmash of various small creatures’ heads, including but not limited to pigeon heads, turtle heads, rabbit heads, and there were even a few sheep’s eyes as a garnish.

The other items also all had an eerie look about them, and Wen Wen even suspected that the owner wasn’t human, but some kind of alien monster that could create such things...

Speaking of alien monsters... the diners in the restaurant didn’t seem quite right.

Sitting in the corner, a couple elegantly sliced their blood pudding, their bodies emitting a nauseating dark magic.

A man with a Fu Manchu mustache swallowed a giant tuna eye, and under his cheeks, there were several barely visible slits that seemed to be gills.

Another customer’s plate had only a portion of coal drenched in ginger sauce; the crunching sounds clearly indicated he wasn’t human either.

On closer inspection, Wen Wen was the only human in the entire restaurant.

Oh, wait, that chef, despite being over two meters tall and built like an ox, should be human too.

This discovery made Wen Wen look at the table full of dishes with no desire to eat at all.

This place might be a restaurant specifically for monsters, and the bizarre food might be strange not only in appearance but in the ingredients as well.

"Good thing I brought Three Cubs..." Wen Wen said, sighing.
