It was Gu Huaichun who finally broke the silence.
"Should we discuss the quarrel scene we’re shooting this afternoon?"
Zhou Yun initially thought she was hallucinating her own voice.
She looked at Gu Huaichun in surprise, noticing that he hadn’t even lifted his head.
"Are you talking to me?"
Gu Huaichun then raised his head. He looked very tired and listless.
"You wouldn’t want to just gloss it over, would you?" Gu Huaichun asked.
Zhou Yun stirred the ribs in her bowl with a spoon and asked, "How do you want to discuss it?"
"Let’s rehearse it a few more times later," Gu Huaichun said.
Gu Huaichun lowered his head again and continued eating.
Zhou Yun thought for a moment, then asked, "What about Yin Zhou?"
"He’s filming," Gu Huaichun replied, "he still has two scenes left to shoot."
He seemed to recall something and added, "Those two scenes were originally scheduled for the afternoon."
"Why were they moved to now?" Zhou Yun asked.
Gu Huaichun replied, "Because you’re here."
"Because I’m here?" Zhou Yun was surprised, "What do you mean?"
"You’re the lead actress, we can’t have you waiting around on set," Gu Huaichun said with his usual hint of sarcasm.
Zhou Yun suddenly understood.
She didn’t bother to argue with Gu Huaichun, feeling a subconscious sense of guilt and embarrassment.
"I thought it would be better to come early..."
Gu Huaichun put down his chopsticks and left.
She couldn’t eat anymore, put down her chopsticks, and walked to her own rest area.
Zheng Xiaojue was inside watching a variety show on her cell phone. Seeing her come back, she quickly stood up and said, "Sister Xiao Yun, the production coordinator just brought over a new shooting schedule, pushing your scenes up front, starting at one this afternoon."
The new schedule was an hour earlier than the previous one.
Zhou Yun sat down, feeling uneasy.
She had intended to be diligent and make things easier for the crew, but instead, she caused them trouble.
Hesitating, she picked up her phone, wanting to apologize to Yin Zhou but not knowing where to start.
In the end, she still sent Yin Zhou an apology.
Right after sending it, Zhou Yun suddenly heard arguing outside.
"Xiaoju, go take a look."
Zheng Xiaojue nodded and went.
After a while, Zheng Xiaojue came back.
She reported, "Zhen Xiaoxiao and Yu Yhan are arguing because Yu Yhan didn’t get her makeup done in the allotted time, encroaching on her makeup time."
Zhen Xiaoxiao and Yu Yhan were both actresses in the crew, as well as veterans who had acted in several films, much more experienced than these younger people.
Zhou Yun was surprised to hear that the two of them were arguing.
"Usually, they get along well, don’t they?" Zhou Yun asked.
Zheng Xiaojue replied, "I overheard someone saying they’re like ’plastic sisters’."
"Ha?" Zhou Yun was surprised, "You were able to find out about that?"
Zheng Xiaojue smiled bashfully and said, "People like to gossip, but don’t worry, Sister Xiao Yun, I won’t utter a word about you to anyone else."
Since it was two actors arguing, Zhou Yun didn’t feel right to go out and join the crowd.
It wasn’t good to take sides.
After ten minutes, Zhou Yun took her script and went to look for Gu Huaichun.
She ran into Yu Yhan.
Yu Yhan didn’t notice her and walked past with a stern face, looking very upset.
Guessing that Yu Yhan was in a bad mood, Zhou Yun didn’t greet her.
It was only on set that she found out Gu Huaichun wasn’t there; she turned around and found him in his rest area.
Gu Huaichun looked as if he’d just been startled from a dream, his eyelids even heavier than usual.
Zhou Yun raised the script and asked, "Shall we talk?"
Gu Huaichun seemed to have just remembered his appointment with Zhou Yun, uttered an "Oh," and said, "Wait a second."
He went to grab his script, then followed Zhou Yun out.
"This is the first time the two characters have a misunderstanding and an argument; there’s no need to escalate it to a full-blown fight," Zhou Yun offered her opinion, "From Lin Xiaosu’s perspective, she likes you, but you misunderstand that her approach is due to your status, and she feels that you’re insulting her. In the heat of the moment, she gets agitated, but more than arguing with you, she just wants to clarify things."
Gu Huaichun nodded and said, "At this point, my feelings towards you are complicated. On one hand, I’m fond of you, but on the other, I’ve been instigated by others to think you have an ulterior motive for approaching me, which feels like a betrayal. That’s why I’m cold toward you, but since I like you, I don’t want to lash out, resulting in a kind of passive-aggressiveness."
