"Me?" Zhou Yun exclaimed in surprise, his eyes wide, "No way, you must be kidding me."
"Seriously," Song Chi said, "Your performance exceeded my expectations, I never thought you could perform so well."
Zhou Yun shook his head and said, "I know how I performed, I messed up so many times, how could it be considered good."
"Who cares how many times you messed up, in the end, everyone only sees your final performance. Just put in your best effort, and if you perform well in the upcoming key scenes, there really is hope."
"Stop, stop, stop, don’t give me false hopes, I’ll take it seriously," Zhou Yun made a stopping gesture, "I’m most afraid of this, getting my hopes up only to be disappointed when things don’t work out. I don’t want to expect too much."
"I thought by telling you this, it would motivate you to be more determined," Song Chi remarked.
"No need for that, I’m already giving it my all," Zhou Yun said, "The company wanted me to take on some business work, and I’ve even rejected leave and pushed back offers with Sister Lan, just so it wouldn’t interfere with the shooting."
"I know, I know, I’m saying, Zhou Yun, you need to be more proactive, don’t just wait for Director Kang to give you feedback before you adjust. Haven’t you noticed? You have become accustomed to performing one or two scenes, and only really focusing after Director Kang gives his feedback," Song Chi said, "You’re lucky to have Director Kang whom you can trust entirely, but not every director is like Director Kang. Most directors won’t provide such detailed guidance as he does, like during ’Eighth Heartbeat’. Think about it, if you weren’t attentive, what would have happened?"
That hit the nail on the head.
Zhou Yun suddenly snapped back to reality.
As soon as he sat down, he sighed, lamenting, "There’s truly no moment to rest."
"Director Kang, try to eat a bit more," Song Chi said with a smile.
"Just now, Su Yan’s agent contacted me, wanting to meet tonight for a drink. Where do I have the time for that right now? What does she think we are doing?" Kang Xin said, clearly frustrated.
"Probably about Su Yan," Song Chi suggested.
"Exactly, knowing she wants to talk about Su Yan, I don’t even want to bother with her," Kang Xin apparently had a lot of complaints about He Ting.
Regarding Su Yan, Kang Xin hadn’t even met with He Ting, and Zhou Yun didn’t know why Kang Xin was so displeased with her.
Song Chi smiled and asked, "What, they still want to change the script?"
"Not just want to change the script, they’ve already changed it and sent it to my room, just waiting for my approval," Kang Xin snorted, "Instead of focusing on acting well, they’re dreaming about adding more scenes."
"Everyone wants to act more in your films, don’t be too upset," Song Chi picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks for Kang Xin.
Sitting on the side, Zhou Yun finally understood why Kang Xin was unhappy with He Ting; she was constantly trying to get more scenes for Su Yan.
Zhou Yun thought, no wonder Kang Xin was so upset.
When they were filming, if they even changed the lines in the script, Kang Xin would get angry, let alone adding scenes.
Kang Xin highly values the integrity of the script. Adding a scene felt as out of place as if a person had sprouted extra organs—it just didn’t fit.
"I’m not angry, it’s just annoying having people constantly calling me and coming up to me about this matter, indirectly trying to get me to give Su Yan more screen time. It’s just irritating," Kang Xin complained, no longer as reserved as usual, almost ready to light up a cigarette, "Zhou Yun is good, never bothers me with such issues."
Suddenly being mentioned, Zhou Yun didn’t quite know what to say, he smiled lightly, "I’m not even confident in the scenes I have now, I’m so nervous; if you add more, I wouldn’t know how to act."
"See, this person is still modest," Kang Xin praised.
"Whom did Director Kang say was modest?" Jiang Yuzhen, who was scheduled for a night shoot, suddenly appeared.
Dressed in long pants and a short-sleeve shirt, her hair tied into a ponytail, she looked simple and plain.
Lifting his head and seeing Jiang Yuzhen, Kang Xin smiled and said, "You’re here; I thought you were going to wait until it got dark."
"Director Kang, I’ve worked with you on so many films, when have you seen me be late?" Jiang Yuzhen brought over a stool and sat down, "You must be tired from this period, do you need my masseuse to come and give you a massage?"
"You’re bringing a masseuse now? Is your back pain still not healed?" Kang Xin asked in surprise.
"It acts up from time to time," Jiang Yuzhen sighed, "It’s an old issue; there’s no permanent cure."
