Lin Qianru tried to send Mo Roulan back when she saw her coming to the kitchen. However, Mo Roulan refused to leave when she saw that her mother seemed to add more dishes to tonight’s dinner.
She sighed in distress. Chi Rong was after all her employer and it was his first time visiting their apartment. Keeping in mind, his generous attitude as a boss towards her mother, they ouldn’t really treat him with a simple meal.
But what she was worried about was how her mother will cook all of this alone.
So, Mo Roulan took an apron and tied it on herself.
Lin Qianru again tried to stop her daughter. She knew very well that Mo Roulan must be tired after working in the office but Mo Roulan didn’t listen to her mother at all and insisted in helping her.
Helpless, Lin Qianru could only try to finish the work as soon as possible so that her daughter would be able to rest as soon as possible.
It was almost an hour later that the dinner was prepared. Lin Qianru was a little nervous as it took her more time than she had thought.
She almost thought that Chi Rong might have left already so she asked Mo Roulan to go and check. However, when Mo Roulan came back, she had an amazed expression on her face as she said
"He is still there."
Mo Roulan came to know from her mother that Chi Rong had a chain of hotels in City H and in some other cities of China as well.
So according to her, he must be a busy man.
But he still had the time to wait here for them to prepare the dinner. Mo Roulan found it suspiciously odd.
She couldn’t help but ask her mother
"Mom, is everything alright at your workplace?"
Lin Qianru was panicked for a moment. During all this while, she completely forgot that Mo Roulan didn’t know that she was working in Chi Mansion as Chi Rong’s personal cook.
Mo Roulan still thinks that she is working as a receptionist at one of hotels of Chi Rong. However, looking at her daughter’s face, Lin Qianru thought that she still didn’t know anything so she heaved a sigh of relief.
She got a nice sum of the amount by working in Chi Mansion so she didn’t wish to leave the job. However, as much as she knew her daughter, Mo Roulan would definitely try to make her leave the job if she came to know the truth.
Lin Qianru merely shook her head when she saw that Mo Roulan was still waiting for her answer and whispered
"I don’t know."
After that, she hurriedly asked Mo Roulan to help her in bringing all the dishes to the dining table. She was scared that Mo Roulan will ask some more questions and she will stupidly fall in her own words and spill out the truth.
Mo Roulan also nodded her head and picked one plate and one large bowl. After that, she left the kitchen and Lin Qianru sighed in relief.
He Jian’s eyes immediately found Mo Roulan when she stepped inside the kitchen. He frowned when he saw that she had an apron tied on the front. It meant that she had been working.
He couldn’t help but feel distressed seeing this.
She had just returned from a long day of working in the office. He stood up from the chair and took the plate and bowl from Mo Roulan’s hands.
Mo Roulan was obviously startled. But she could only see as He Jian helped her in putting the plate and bowl on the dining table and then asked her
"Is there more?"
She nodded her head dumbly and soon heard him saying calmly
"Let me help you then."
After saying this, He Jian left the dining room and Mo Roulan couldn’t help but follow with a silly expression on her face.
However, just when she stepped out, He Jian felt her walking behind him. He frowned as she stopped amidst his steps and turned around to look at her.
"Why are you coming out?"
He said sternly. Mo Roulan frowned in confusion but was surprised when she saw him stepping forward as if he was about to hug her.
"Mr. He..."
She called out in surprise and raised her hands to push him away. However, soon she realized that he was just untying the apron from her body.
After he had untied the apron, He Jian said strictly
"Go and sit inside."
"Ah but..."
Mo Roulan wanted to say something but when He Jian raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner, she suddenly couldn’t say anything and silently went back to the dining room.
She smiled politely at Chi Rong when she went back to the dining room and sat in front of him at her usual seat.
She had a hard time keeping her face straight as she saw He Jian entering the dining room again with another plate and bowl in his hands. Her mother followed him.
Mo Roulan could say firmly that she had never seen He Jian even taking a glass of water from the kitchen when she used to live in his mansion in her past life.
He had servants to help him in doing everything.
So it was a bit shocking to see him doing all this with such a calm face.
Actually not a bit...but a huge shock. She looked away when the man sat and looked at her only to find her already looking at him with a dazed look on her face.
Mo Roulan almost screamed in surprise the next moment.
Did he just wink at her!
She blinked her eyes and looked at He Jian again only to find that he had a cold and indifferent face again as if what she saw just now was merely her illusion!
It must be her illusion, Mo Roulan thought inside her heart as she took a plate for herself and started to serve the dish.
However, she never noticed the deep amusement in He Jian’s eyes and the slight tilt of his lips.
Perhaps the wink was not Mo Roulan’s illusion!
