He Mingzhu’s eyes softened but she didn’t let it show and asked strictly
"How is your relationship with Roulan now?"
"She promised me to stay in the hospital. She also said that she loves me but..."
"But she is doubtful about this relationship."
He Mingzhu finished her son’s unsaid words. She could also feel it.
The way Mo Roulan kept He family members at an invisible distance, anyone could sense it.
"You deserve it."
She said honestly.
When she saw He Jian’s lowered head, she didn’t stop there and asked
"What about her family?"
"Her father is angry at me."
"Anyone would be. Imagine if you have a daughter in the future and someone does this to her, will you ever forgive that man?"
He Jian’s eyes went cold at these words. He won’t be able to forgive such a man. He will destroy him.
Though he knew before that what he did was wrong, the gravity of his mistake was realized by him now only.
"Does she talk to her family?"
He Mingzhu asked again and He Jian frowned because he had not seen Mo Roulan talking to anyone from her family.
It was only then did he realize that Chi Rong would have never let her come to him.
If Mo Roulan came to him, then was Chi Rong angry at her?
He Jian suddenly felt restless when he realized this.
"I don’t think so."
He answered his mother.
He Mingzhu leaned against the headrest of the chair. She had a somber expression on her face.
"Jian, what you did was very wrong but Mo Roulan is also suffering because of this. It is possible that her family is angry at her because she came here to stay with you. They deserve an apology from He family."
He Jian nodded his head stiffly.
He wondered why he didn’t ponder on all this before.
Lanlan must be upset that Chi Rong was not talking to her.
"I will take out time and go to New York to visit her family."
"You should."
He Mingzhu stood up from the chair she was seated on.
Before leaving the room, she looked at her son and said again
"Jian, don’t come back before gaining an apology from Roulan’s family. That is the least you can do for her now. I want my son to be able enough to shoulder his mistake."
He Jian raised his head and looked at his mother’s eyes.
He felt very guilty inside his heart when he saw the disappointment in his mother’s eyes.
"I will, Mom"
He said firmly and He Mingzhu left finally.

The next morning, Mo Roulan was woken up by the alarm.
She got ready and then left the hotel for the meeting. On her way to the restaurant where she was supposed to meet the client, she texted He Jian that she was alright.
The reply came immediately and He Jian asked her if she had breakfast.
Mo Roulan replied with yes.
They talked for a few more minutes and Mo Roulan told him that she would need to go now as she had reached the destination.
Stepping inside the restaurant, a waiter immediately guided her to the table where the client was seated.
Mo Roulan saw a couple in front of her.
"Miss Mo, I hope that you liked London."
The woman stood up from the chair and forwarded her hand to shake with Mo Roulan.
Mo Roulan smiled politely and shook hands as she answered
"London is nice, Miss Confield."
Ji Zhen had shown the picture of the woman for whom she was supposed to design jewelry and a wedding dress.
Rose Confield was a very popular actress and she was soon going to marry.
"This is my fiancé, Xavier Arkwright."
Rose introduced Mo Roulan to the man who was standing with her.
"Hello, Mr. Arkwright."
Mo Roulan greeted the man as well.
After exchanging greetings, they sat down and ordered something before they started to discuss the work.
Mo Roulan asked Rose her preferences. As Rose spoke, she noted down the important things.
She also asked Xavier about his preferences and what kind of suit he was going to wear.
Around one and half hours later, Mo Roulan finally stood up and said
"Miss Rose, I will work on whatever you have told me. I will tell you as soon as I will be ready with the designs."
"Alright"
Rose smiled and they soon parted ways.
The next few days Mo Roulan spent in making the designs inside the hotel room. Two days later, Ji Zhen had another five staff members to help Mo Roulan.
Mo Roulan was grateful.
She could make the designs on her own. But she still needed help to bring it into reality.
She talked to He Jian on an almost daily basis.
A week later, Mo Roulan suddenly realized that He Jian would reply every time she would message him...even when he was supposed to sleep.
She looked at the clock and frowned knowing that it was already 2 in city H and yet he replied to her right away.
Mo Roulan immediately called him.
"Lanlan..."
"When do you sleep?"
She asked as soon as he picked up.
He Jian went silent at the question. Mo Roulan suddenly breathed sharply.
"He Jian..."
"I can’t sleep. I tried ...but I couldn’t."
Mo Roulan frowned as she suddenly remembered that once Chu Feng had told her that He Jian couldn’t sleep without sleeping pills or sometimes even those didn’t work.
"But you slept with me in the past few days, didn’t you?"
She asked in confusion.
He Jian sighed softly on the other side and answered
"That was because of you. I sleep peacefully when you are with me."
Mo Roulan sat still, having nothing to say.
There was a long silence before she asked him.
"Then ...in the past two years, how did you...."
He Jian didn’t know how he should answer the question. But he didn’t want to worry her so he said immediately
"Sleeping pills worked at that time."
