Chef at the University Canteen Chapter 333

While Wang Dongkai was squeezed out by Lin Yahu, he didn’t walk far and stayed nearby. Hearing Jiang Yu say this, he burst into laughter and said,

"Junior Brother Xiaojiang, you can’t fool me with that. No one who has eaten your meals has said they’re not delicious!

There are some people online with snide comments, but I’ve looked into it. None of them have ever been here, let alone tasted your cooking!"

"..."

Jiang Yu glanced at Wang Dongkai, who wore a satisfied expression, feeling somewhat speechless.

I was just being polite, but you have to expose me? What am I supposed to say then?!

No wonder Lin Yahu called you a "live wire"; you really are!

...

Jiang Yu and the senior brothers and sisters didn’t chat for too long. After all, it was just their first meeting, and they didn’t have many common topics to discuss. This occasion was mainly for getting to know each other, so future interactions would be more natural.

After spending about ten minutes in the private room, Chen Lei and the others mentioned going back to the hotel to rest. Jiang Yu then escorted them downstairs, all the way to the dining hall entrance before returning upstairs.

During their casual chat, Jiang Yu learned that these senior brothers and sisters returned to school primarily to help train the school sports team’s athletes for the provincial games in three months.

Because of this, some of them would be staying at school for a while. Their daily meals would naturally be arranged by the school, so Jiang Yu didn’t have to worry about it.

However, just as Jiang Yu was seeing them off, Xiong Bingsheng, who had been walking at the back, mentioned that the school would have people dine at the first-floor window of the Seventh Dining Hall. But the food on the first floor is mainly spicy. He asked if Jiang Yu could prepare one or two milder dishes.

Jiang Yu thought about it and nodded in agreement.

This was a small favor he was willing to help with, and Xiong Bingsheng was right. The dishes at the Seventh Dining Hall’s ground floor are quite spicy. While this is appreciated by students who enjoy spicy food, it’s not friendly to those who don’t usually eat spicy food.

Simply put, the flavors of the meals in the student dining hall shouldn’t be too biased; they should be somewhat balanced to cater to more students’ tastes.

Previously, Jiang Yu didn’t consider this; he only thought about how to make the food delicious. Now, as he spent more time running the Seventh Dining Hall, he began to think more comprehensively.

When Jiang Yu returned upstairs, Yan Tongtong and the others had already cleaned the private room. They were crowded around the kitchen sink washing the dishes and utensils. It looked like it would take a while to finish.

Jiang Yu took out his phone to check the time; it was almost nine o’clock at night. After washing the dishes, they’ll need to be sanitized, which could take until midnight.

Thinking of this, he shook his head and said to Yan Tongtong and the others,

"Alright, it’s already late. Leave it for now. Come back to wash them in the morning. You’ve all had a long day, so go rest early."

The servers exchanged glances, unable to help it, and finally looked at Yan Tongtong.

"Leaving the dishes unwashed in the kitchen doesn’t seem good," Yan Tongtong said reluctantly, seeing that everyone looked to her.

"It’s okay; it’s just too late today. In the future, we’ll finish early and leave early," Jiang Yu replied.

Seeing that Yan Tongtong and the others still hadn’t moved, he waved them off and said,

"Alright, alright, hurry and go!"

"Okay."

Seeing his insistence, Yan Tongtong stopped arguing, washed her hands clean, and left with the others.

Once Yan Tongtong and the others had gone, Jiang Yu walked to a side of the kitchen, took a carrot covered in dirt from the basket,

washed it clean under the tap, then turned to take a knife from the rack. Sitting at the worktop, he picked up the carrot and began to carve it bit by bit.

Knife skills need practice; casually cutting a few "fish nets" isn’t enough. To do it better, one must work even harder.
