Tong Mo rejected it without even thinking.
Don’t think that just because she’s young, she’s easy to deceive. She well knew that roses were a boy’s way of courtship.
She certainly didn’t want to date a duck!
"You don’t need to overthink it, I’m just showing some love for the single dog," Li Zijue found a random excuse.
"You’re the single dog!" Tong Mo was somewhat fed up, standing in the snow with hands on her hips and glaring at him, "I’ll have you know that there are plenty of people at school who like me!"
Hearing this, Li Zijue’s brows furrowed on the spot, and his tone became much heavier involuntarily, "Really?"
"Of course!" Tong Mo nodded her head, looking at him proudly, "I’ll tell you, if I wanted to date, a bunch of boys would be on their knees begging to be with me!"
Since he didn’t know anything about her true situation, Tong Mo could lie without batting an eye.
The more she spoke, the darker Li Zijue’s face became, holding back the urge to strangle her as he continued the conversation, "But I’ve heard that you have a marriage arrangement with the eldest son of the Li Family. If you were to date other boys, wouldn’t you be making him a cuckold?"
"He counts for nothing!" Tong Mo became even more irritated upon mentioning him. "An old man, as if I would ever marry him!"
As a young and vibrant girl in the prime of youth, only if she had a hole in her brain would she marry an old man she hadn’t even seen.
Seeing her look of disgust, Li Zijue couldn’t help but feel a bit of disorder amidst the snow.
Was he really that old, that undesirable?
Just as he was sinking into self-doubt, he saw Tong Mo staring at him with a skeptical face, countering, "Hey, how do you know about my marriage arrangement with the Li Family?"
"Saw it on the news." Li Zijue replied nonchalantly.
"Oh!" Tong Mo didn’t question his words.
After all, the marriage between two enterprises would certainly be reported in the news, and perhaps she had accidentally seen her name and photo.
Subsequently, the two of them seemed to have run out of topics and quietly walked in the snow.
As they were about to reach the end of the street, Tong Mo suddenly remembered about the red envelope for New Year’s money and awkwardly thanked him, "Uh... thanks for that..."
"Thanks for what?" Li Zijue couldn’t follow her thoughts.
"Thanks for the red envelope you gave me on the evening of the thirtieth," Tong Mo said.
Although he had never admitted it, Tong Mo had guessed as much.
It was only then that Li Zijue remembered, and his lips curved slightly, "No need to thank me, consider it charity."
"Hey! Can’t you have a pleasant conversation for once!" Instantly, the little bit of warmth in Tong Mo’s heart evaporated, and she even felt a murderous impulse.
Li Zijue, watching her fluff up like a startled kitten, couldn’t help but smile.
"You’re still laughing!"
Tong Mo was so angry her liver hurt; she got on her bicycle and left straight away.

"Ride slowly," Li Zijue, with hands in his trousers pockets, watched as the huffy girl pedaled away on her bike.
"Mind your own business!"
Even though they were now some distance apart, Li Zijue could still clearly hear her teeth-gritted yet helpless voice.
Not until the girl completely disappeared from view did Li Zijue look away, his thin lips revealing a pampering smile that even he didn’t realize.
Marrying her wouldn’t be so bad after all.
After all, living alone was really too lonely.
