"Don’t look at it yet, wait until your eyes are better before you read," Gu Zhihan said as he approached the little girl who was reading at the table.
"I’ll listen to you!"
Upon hearing this, Luo Mengmeng immediately put down the book, and just as she was about to reach for the warm egg to apply it to her eyes, she heard him say, "Don’t move, I’ll do it for you."
"Oh..." Mengmeng obediently closed her eyes.
Gu Zhihan took another step forward and placed the warm egg on the little girl’s swollen eyes, rotating it in circles while his hands massaged the acupuncture points around her eyes.
The comfort from such a massage was indescribable.
Even Luo Mengmeng started to feel sleepy...
After massaging for nearly half an hour, Gu Zhihan saw that the egg in his hand had started to cool down, so he retracted his hand and gently called out to the little girl, "Mengmeng, it’s done."
Her response was the girl’s adorable snoring.
Gu Zhihan looked closely and realized she had fallen asleep without him noticing when.
"You can sleep in a chair?" Gu Zhihan shook his head helplessly, then put down the egg and stretched out his arms to pick up the little girl from the chair.
Though she appeared very delicate, she was actually quite heavy; every time he picked her up, Gu Zhihan felt as if he was holding a little pig.
After taking a deep breath, he took a few steps towards his bed with her in his arms.
Ever since they got engaged, Luo Mengmeng’s parents didn’t mind Mengmeng staying over at his house at all.
After bringing the little girl to bed, Gu Zhihan removed her shoes and socks, then fetched a towel from the bathroom to wipe her face and feet, before finally tucking her into a comfortable position and covering her with a blanket.
Then, he climbed into bed himself and brought her into his embrace to sleep together.
Sleepy and muddled, Luo Mengmeng wrapped around him like an octopus, rubbing her legs against him, thinking he was the big bear from her own bed.
This was quite the ordeal for Gu Zhihan, in the prime of his youth.
There was a moment when he genuinely wanted to flip her beneath him and just do it.
But remembering that the college entrance exam was just a month away, he couldn’t afford to waste all his efforts and had to keep enduring...
The next day, Luo Mengmeng got out of bed feeling refreshed and clear-headed.
But when she turned her head, she saw Gu Zhihan with dark circles under his eyes, full of red blood vessels.
"Wow!" Luo Mengmeng was startled by his drained appearance and asked anxiously, "Gu Zhihan, what did you do last night, didn’t you sleep?"
"It’s all because you’re too captivating, I couldn’t sleep all night!" Gu Zhihan pressed his aching temples and immediately pinched the little girl’s chin with a hint of deeper meaning, "Wait until after the college entrance exam, you better make it up to me, heard me?"
He had been holding back for nearly a year; when the time came, he was determined to claim it all back twofold.
"You...you, you, you... Can you not talk about such colored topics first thing in the morning?" Luo Mengmeng nearly died of embarrassment, and after scrambling to retort, she quickly ran off the bed to wash her face and brush her teeth in the bathroom.
After breakfast, Gu Zhihan drove Mengmeng towards the school.
The learning in Grade 12 was exceptionally intense and rushed, with nothing but reviewing day in and day out.
Soon, the second mock exam began.
However, Luo Mengmeng still didn’t do well.
The third mock, the fourth mock. She still didn’t do well.
By the time the last, fifth mock came around, she hadn’t done well again!
