Chronicles of Forgotten Extra Chapter 86

In another part of the virtual simulation, two beings who were never meant to cross paths stood face-to-face.

They were never meant to fight.

They were never meant to even meet. And yet, here they were, locked in an intense stare-down.

Amyra's ice-cold eyes peered into Nyx's very soul.

Nobody else meant anything in her eyes except her beloved.

She didn't even care for the fact that Nyx didn't belong to this world.

She already had an idea about who Nyx was…But she didn't care.

As long as she doesn't put her eyes on my dear, I don't care what she does.

Whereas Nyx was amused.

She had met many warriors, assassins, and monsters.

She had killed them all.

But Amyra? She was different.

There was something eery about her presence.

Still, Nyx wasn't afraid.

A daughter of darkness.

A princess of the void.

She had killed beings far stronger than herself, and she had always survived.

"Hey there, princess," Nyx smirked as she greeted Amyra.

She wanted to recruit her.

If she could somehow recruit Amyra into her clan, she knew her father would be happy.

So she tried to sound as friendly as possible.

But Amyra didn't respond.

She didn't even blink.

Just her cold eyes staring at Nyx like she was worthless.

Nyx tried to push away the uncomfortable feeling as she chuckled slightly. "Not much of a talker, huh? That's fine—"

Nyx barely had time to react before dozens of lightning projectiles erupted from Amyra's wand.

Amyra didn't use a sword or any ominous energy she used when she dealt with Annie. Her energy, on the other hand, was as pure as it could be.

Nyx twisted her body, teleporting just before they could hit her—

Or at least, she tried.

But nothing happened.

And the projectiles were still coming.

Nyx didn't even feel the invisible domain covering the whole arena.

She instinctively flipped backward as she barely managed to dodge the lightning.

Why… Why couldn't I teleport?

Amyra still hadn't spoken a word.

She simply raised her wand again, preparing another spell.

Nyx narrowed her eyes.

Fine, I'll just have to do it in the traditional way.

She dashed forward, daggers gleaming in the dim light.

If she couldn't teleport, then she would close the gap before this freak could cast again.

'Big mistake.' Nyx grinned.

She appeared behind Amyra in an instant, her daggers flashing toward the girl's neck.

She tried to move—nothing.

She tried to teleport—nothing.

Amyra slowly turned her head toward Nyx without any rush.

Why would I need to rush against a bug?

Her cold eyes met Nyx's.

Nyx felt her heart skip a beat.

Not because of admiration.

Not because of surprise.

It wasn't a wand anymore; suddenly lightning surged from her hands, forming the shape of a blade.

It crackled with power, moving like a living entity.

It was truly beautiful.

But most importantly, it was lethal and inescapable.

The sword slashed forward—

And Nyx saw nothing but light.

[Winner—Amyra Celestrian]

[Student, please prepare for your next battle…]

[The next match will start shortly.]

[Next Opponent—Seles Draven]

The arena vanished as Amyra was transported to a new one. This arena was a forest filled with many trees.

She gazed at the girl standing opposite her.

A beautiful blonde girl.

She knew who the girl was.

She was the half-sister of her beloved.

And the person she was going to kill in the future.

Her fingers twitched.

The moment she saw Seles, the urge to kill her slammed into her mind.

Just one step forward.

Her grip tightened on her wand.

Seles had an important role to play in what's to come next, and she couldn't kill her yet.

She was going to be the one who would kill her. There was a good reason behind her hostility. But it had to wait for now.

I couldn't kill her… I couldn't

She kept repeating it in her mind, but every time she looked at her face, a memory flashed in her mind.

A memory she didn't wish to recall.

She quickly dismissed her thoughts.

'I am just going to finish this soon…'

She decided to end this battle as soon as possible, and she had the strength to do so as well.

Seles' lips curled into a soft, almost hesitant smile, oblivious to Amyra's thoughts.

"I'm sorry, Princess, if my brother, Alden, has been rude to you."

"You've been watching my brother, Alden, a lot," she probed for information. "I thought, perhaps, he might've offended you"

"If he has, I would like to sincerely apologise on his behalf." Seles continued, her tone gentle. "You shouldn't have to tolerate his presence if he's been a nuisance."

Did this girl just call my beloved a nuisance?

After what she had done—how dare she?

Her patience snapped.

A deadly, suffocating pressure filled the arena.

She was going to let her escape painlessly, but now…she changed her mind.

She couldn't kill her yet…that was still true.

But this is virtual reality…She wouldn't die anyway…

Seles waited for her opponent to come, and soon enough, a girl with shimmering snow-white hair and glowing violet eyes appeared.

Seles' expression changed a bit as she switched to her innocent side.

She knew a lot about Amyra.

After all, how could she not have any information about the strongest of their generation?

She always kept eyes on every strong student in her classroom, and Amyra was at the top of her list.

She had caught Amyra staring at Alden with an unreadable and impassive expression.

Not just once or twice.

At first, Seles thought Alden had somehow offended the princess.

The thought that Amyra could love someone like Alden never crossed her mind.

And it was logical as well, how was she supposed to guess an ice cold princess who never met Alden having a crush on him.

So she had assumed the worst.

That Amyra must hate Alden for some reason.

She wanted to take advantage of that fact to grow closer to Amyra.

If she could somehow get Amyra to support Lucien, then his path to becoming emperor would be clear without any obstacles.

"I'm sorry, Princess, if my brother, Alden, has been rude to you."

She kept her tone light and gentle—like she truly cared.

"If he has, I would like to sincerely apologise on his behalf." Seles continued, her tone gentle. "You shouldn't have to tolerate his presence if he's been a nuisance."

It was a harmless statement meant to only probe for some information, but depending on how Amyra could respond, she would know more information.

But she chose the wrong person to say that to.

Because the moment those words left her lips, something changed.

The world around her dimmed slightly.

Her violet eyes, once calm and unreadable, suddenly darkened.

And in that single, terrifying moment—

She had miscalculated something terribly.

Amyra's presence erupted, pressing down on her like a crushing mountain.

Her chest tightened as it thumped with fear.

"Have I somehow offended you, princess?" She asked, hoping to get out of this situation.

"No, you didn't offend me," Amyra said with a smile.

But the smile was anything but warm.

"You see, I just don't like bugs… So I hope you can understand what happens next."
