Howard Geoffrey seemed a bit at fault, yet still maintained a cold demeanor as he walked straight toward the office door.
Roger Leonard looked at Howard Geoffrey about to leave and asked, "Dora, where are you going?"
Howard Geoffrey simply replied with two words, "Going home!"
Roger Leonard let out an "oh" and sarcastically commented at Howard Geoffrey’s already disappearing back, "Leaving work early to actively go home and see Becca, isn’t that just slacking off?"
Michael Lewis was sitting on the bed seriously playing with toys, while Rebecca Quentin was staring intently at Michael Lewis’s innocent and childish face.
This wimpy kid is really cute...
He’s not the least bit spoiled like other kids; he’s been playing with toys on the bed all afternoon by himself and asks her when he doesn’t understand something, very sensible.
This child is also good-looking...
With big eyes, long eyelashes, and features so delicate he looks like a girl, one can tell his parents must be good-looking as well.
"Auntie, I need to go to the bathroom."
In the midst of playing, the wimpy kid spoke very politely.
"Okay!" Rebecca Quentin picked Michael Lewis up from the bed and walked toward the bathroom.
In the bathroom, Rebecca Quentin thoughtfully asked, "Mickey, do you need Auntie to help you take off your pants?"
Michael Lewis shook his head, "Auntie, I can take them off myself."
A moment later, Michael Lewis had put his pants back on by himself, looked up at Rebecca Quentin who had her back turned, and said, "Auntie, lift me up to wash my hands."
Rebecca Quentin turned around, seeing the cute look in Michael Lewis’s bright eyes, she couldn’t help but squat down and give him a kiss on his handsome little face, praising him, "Mickey, you’re so good!" With that, she picked Michael Lewis up and took him to the sink.
After washing his hands, Rebecca Quentin was about to carry Michael Lewis to play on the bed but then heard a noise at the door.
Immediately after, the door opened...
Almost the moment Rebecca Quentin saw Howard Geoffrey, Michael Lewis excitedly called out, "Uncle Geoffrey!!"
Howard Geoffrey was completely unprepared for the wimpy kid’s presence and was unexpectedly stunned for a second.
Michael Lewis wriggled in Rebecca Quentin’s arms, reaching his hands out toward Howard Geoffrey.
Rebecca Quentin put Michael Lewis down, allowing him to waddle unsteadily towards Howard Geoffrey.
Rebecca Quentin couldn’t have imagined that Howard Geoffrey would at that moment toss aside his car keys and files, bend down, and pick the leaping Michael Lewis into his arms.
Michael Lewis planted a forceful peck on Howard Geoffrey’s handsome face, affectionately wrapping his little hands around Howard Geoffrey’s neck.
Howard Geoffrey also kissed Michael Lewis, a rare bright smile on his usually indifferent face, "Mickey, who brought you here?"
The wimpy kid replied, "Uncle Roger brought me to T City, Auntie carried me back." The wimpy kid turned his gaze towards Rebecca Quentin.
Rebecca Quentin smiled slightly, quietly watching the intimacy between Howard Geoffrey and Michael Lewis.
Howard Geoffrey turned his gaze to Rebecca Quentin, clearly in a good mood, and gently said, "This little guy didn’t wear you out, did he?"
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "He’s very good!"
If only her future child could be as good as this wimpy kid...
While this thought crossed her mind, Rebecca Quentin realized she was perhaps overthinking it.
"Uncle Geoffrey, I want you to play with me... You can build very tall buildings, I want you to teach me!" Michael Lewis clearly adored Howard Geoffrey, clinging tightly to him at this moment.
Rebecca Quentin walked over to Howard Geoffrey’s side and coaxed Michael Lewis, who was now playfully interacting with Howard Geoffrey, using a child’s innocent tone, "Mickey, you haven’t eaten anything all afternoon, are you hungry now? Let Uncle Geoffrey take us to eat something first, and then he’ll play with you afterwards, okay?"
The wimpy kid nodded sensibly, "Okay."
They exited the elevator.
Rebecca Quentin silently followed behind Howard Geoffrey and Michael Lewis.
In front of Howard Geoffrey, Michael Lewis was like a lively child, one moment asking Howard Geoffrey to carry him to play airplane, and the next wanting Howard Geoffrey to answer his puzzles. Howard Geoffrey, like a doting father spoiling his child, agreed to every one of Michael Lewis’s requests, even pretending not to know the answers to the wimpy kid’s so-called puzzles, making Michael Lewis burst into giggles.
Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but smile as she watched this warm scene, yet there was a faint but indescribable sadness in her heart.
During dinner, unexpectedly, the menus the waiter handed them were all family-style parent-child meals.
Rebecca Quentin hesitated whether to order, but Howard Geoffrey had already ordered one.
The waiter, upon seeing Howard Geoffrey order the parent-child meal, left with the menu, obviously delighted.
