Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife Chapter 388

The big white dog, startled by the sudden affection, stood up and then sat down again, clearly unsure how to react.

Gu Nuan silently bowed her head and continued to eat her white rice.

Truth be told, her mom liking him was a good thing because it meant approval. But on the other hand, having a son-in-law meant forgetting about her daughter, which did make her feel a bit resentful.

Before the three of them had finished eating, the big white dog remembered something he could do and boasted to his mother-in-law, "Mom, I’m the best in the universe at washing dishes."

Gu Nuan almost spit out her mouthful of rice.

Gu’s mom, slightly stunned at first, covered her mouth with her chopsticks to suppress a chuckle and then said seriously, "Is it Nuannuan who’s forcing you to do the dishes?"

"Mom, no, I am willing to do them myself."

Gu Nuan pretended to know nothing and continued eating her rice.

After finishing the meal, she and her mother went to the living room to watch TV and have some tea, while the big white dog put on the extra-large housework gloves she had bought for him and began to wash the dishes.

Gu Nuan had just brewed a cup of tea for her mother when her cellphone buzzed. She picked it up and saw it was a message.

Upon seeing who the sender was, Gu Nuan turned her back to look more closely, glancing at her mom from the corner of her eye as she read.

Her mom’s eyes were fixed on the TV, seemingly unaware of anything amiss.

Gu Nuan opened the message from Ou Yanan.

Ou Yanan wrote, "Your last blood test results are out; the professor wants you to come back to the hospital tomorrow for another check-up."

Because she had poor hearing and was on medication, and because she was trying to get pregnant, possibly already pregnant, she needed to monitor certain indicators in her blood.

Gu Nuan thought for a moment and then replied, "I got it. — You, have the police continued to bother you? How’s the wound?"

On the other side, there was a moment of silence from Ou Yanan.

Gu Nuan, unaware that he had just been scolded by Tang Sili, found it strange.

Eventually, Ou Yanan responded, "The police know it has nothing to do with me; they haven’t come looking for me again. Don’t worry."

Gu Nuan put down her phone.

Gu’s mom casually asked her daughter, "Is it something about work? Are you busy? If you are, maybe I should leave."

"No, not busy," Gu Nuan said. "Wait for Yebai to come out, then I’ll sit with you for a while longer. Mom, why don’t you stay here overnight? Sleep here tonight."

"If I sleep here, where will you two sleep?" Gu’s mom asked in surprise, throwing her daughter an incredulous look. This place, clearly a one-bedroom and a living room, where would everyone sleep?

The dishwashing lad came out just then, and upon hearing Gu’s mom’s words, he immediately said, "Mom, you and Nuannuan sleep here tonight, I’ll sleep next door."

"Yes, the room next door, across from this one, it’s ours too."

Gu’s mom stared at her son-in-law as if he were an alien. "Why did you get two apartments instead of just one bigger one?"

So, a toddler’s logic was beyond Gu’s mom’s grasp. Gu Nuan rubbed her forehead.

The big white dog wagged his tail and explained, "Because it’s inconvenient for guests to stay in our room, and Nuannuan and I like having our privacy, so letting guests stay across the hall is best."

Gu’s mom just could not understand her son-in-law, completely baffled she turned to her daughter.

If she were to say her husband, a grown man, liked to cling to her like a dog, surely no one would believe her. Gu’s mom certainly wouldn’t.

Gu Nuan decided silence was golden.

Gu’s mom took it as her son-in-law simply adoring his wife.

With that, the evening was arranged.

Gu’s mom would stay here overnight.

When alone with her daughter, Gu’s mom said, "Your aunt thinks I’ve gone back home. Send her a message to let her know not to call your dad and make him worry, say I’m staying here tonight with you." Read full story at 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵⟡𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⟡𝓷𝓮𝓽
