Hence, the chase for the rabbit commenced.
"What the—?" Xiu Mei exclaimed, as she almost dropped her bag from surprise. She stopped on her tracks after seeing a little guy curled up like a ball just outside her door. She was even more curious as to how the little kid was able to get inside the gate of her apartment despite the fact that people have to know her home password and have their fingerprints registered before they are able to get inside.
The supposed-to-be strict security in the subdivision was bypassed by the little kid too. Every people that come inside would always be reported to the residents first before they could get in.
So how the hell did Lu Qiang sneak into her home?
"Little Qiang?" She softly called out his name. It seems the little guy was able to instantly hear her as he lifted up his head from her arms and looked at her way. Slowly, the guy's empty gaze sparkled to life as she watched his lips curl up into a small smile. That bright smile instantly brushed away all the stress that Xiu Mei had just awhile ago.
"Mom?"
"Come here." Xiu Mei ushered him closer to her as she opened the back door of her car, entered inside and grabbed a piece of clothing.
She took out one of her spare scarves and knelt in front of Lu Qiang. She quickly wrapped the scarf around Lu Qiang's body to warm his little body that got cold because of the night wind.
Tsk. Really, why was Lu Chen's home security so lax? Can't he see how many times have Lu Qiang escaped from home?
What if Lu Qiang wasn't a bit sensible and wandered off to far and unfamiliar places instead?
Hugging up the little kid, she quickly pressed the password of her home until it beeped open. Dropping her bag on the floor entrance, she quickly placed Lu Qiang on the sofa. She reached out for the remote to adjust the heating of her home to make it a bit warmer. After all, Lu Qiang's body was too cold meaning that he had stayed outside of her house for quite awhile.
Little kids are weaker than a.d.u.l.ts and they get sick easier too. What if Lu Qiang gets sick? That would be bad!
"Stay here for awhile. Watch some cartoons. Mom will quickly get you some warm milk to drink, okay?" She comforted him. She gave him the television remote before leaving him alone in the living to go straight to the kitchen.
She quickly filled up a cup of milk and heated it inside the microwave for a few seconds. She quickly took it out after warming it enough and gave it to Lu Qiang.
"Here, quickly drink this to warm you up." She placed the cup in Lu Qiang's hands as her other hand smoothened the few hairs that were sticking out from his head.
Lu Qiang obediently followed Xiu Mei's request and drank the milk like a good kid he was….he wasn't really.
Xiu Mei sat beside him as she wound up her arms beside him. "What are you doing here this late? You're getting yourself sick!"
No matter what weather it was, nights would always be chilly and one could easily get sick if they don't properly cover up themselves.
"To see you." Lu Qiang whispered, as he innocently shot Xiu Mei a cute glance that she couldn't resist.
Xiu Mei wasn't able to resist his cuteness and tightened her hug on him. Damn it, why was the father and son pair quite irresistible? They're both attacking her on her weak sides.
"Me?"
"Hmm." Lu Qiang nodded.
"Why?"
"Because I missed you."
Listening to Lu Qiang's words, Xiu Mei couldn't stop herself from attacking Lu Qiang with an even tighter hug. Lu Qiang was really too adorable ah!
"I missed you too!"
The two of them chatted for quite a bit before bringing him to bed to sleep. Leaving the little kid alone as he changed his clothes, she was quickly reminded of something and pulled out her phone.
She sent a short message to Lu Chen informing him that Lu Qiang was at her house and he would be spending the night together with the kid just so that he wouldn't worry. But for some reason, she felt some premonition that she shouldn't have done that.
"Mom, I'm done." Lu Qiang called. Xiu Mei turned her head and saw the little head of Lu Qiang popping out from the door of her bathroom. She smiled and ushered him to come to her side.
Running her fingers on his hair, she smoothened them out while her other hand busied herself in fixing the pajamas of Lu Qiang.
"Then let's go to sleep?"
"Hmm."
The two of them shared the bed for the night. With Lu Qiang crawling in her arms, she welcomed the ball of warmth that was voluntarily hugging her. She softly told him some stories to help him sleep when she heard him whisper something.
"Mom?"
"Yes?"
".....when?"
"Ah?"
She wasn't able to hear Lu Qiang's words. Lu Qiang shyly repeated his words a bit louder this time.
"When will you come live with me in the house?"
"Live with you?"
She got confused. What does he mean by living with him?
"Hmm. With me and Dad."
Xiu Mei's words got caught in her throat after hearing his words.
Live…. With Lu Chen and Lu Qiang?!
