Her assistant was quite comfortable with her and Xiu Mei wasn't really too strict enough to be feared by the employees thus the assistant had the guts to ask her a question.
"So when will we be giving the red packets?" Her assistant elbowed her playfully while slightly laughing at her, trying to tease her.
On the other hand, Xiu Mei was at a loss on how she would reply to her question.
If she answers honestly that Lu Chen and her weren't really engaged, would she really believe her? Add to the fact that Lu Chen never commented on the news, it was almost like they were vaguely confirming their relationship which never existed in the first place.
Now that she thought about it, she realized she was at fault too since she didn't really persuade Lu Chen to give a statement. It was out of her calculations that Lu Chen did not even bother to explain the truth of the matter to the employees too.
Stupid Xiu Mei, you are to blame for these consequences too! How the hell did you forget Lu Chen's personality?
Was he the type to explain himself to others? NO.
He would just go and push forward with his plans even without the others understanding the reasoning behind it.

She really was too careless. She should've really addressed the PR department first before disappearing in front of the media. Now, things have escalated into this.
Xiu Mei felt the urge to pull on her hair once again. Does she really have a no way out on this?

"Huh?" Before further wallowing herself on regret, her mind was quickly brought back to reality by her assistant's repeated calls.
Shoot! She dozed off.
"What did you say again?"
Instead of replying to her, her assistant looked at her for a few more seconds before sighing. She stretched out her hand and gave her a light pat on the shoulder.
"Ms.Xiu, I can see that you're so tired. Mr.Lu must've been very fierce eh?" Her assistant just blurted out those words so smoothly like she didn't just directly imply that she was sleeping with Lu Chen.
Well shit, she also implied that she looked so tired meaning she looked so haggard and unpresentable today?!
Xiu Mei gaped in bewilderment at her assistant's assumptions. She didn't know what to feel at all.
Should she be offended that she had automatically assumed that she has been sleeping with the big boss?
Worried, because all the employees might have been thinking the same thing as her?
Panic, because her reputations seem to be turning for the worse?
"No, I—"
"I understand, Ms.Xiu. Seems like you have it hard, ah?" Taking a closer look at her assistant, she spotted the slight curve of her lips as she continued on consoling her about her nonexistent s.e.x life with the big boss.
Was she teasing her?
Damn it, now even her assistant is teasing her.
Xiu Mei narrowed her eyes at her assistant before threatening her with empty malice, "Should I have the HR department note that you won't be having any vacation leave for the rest of the year?"
In an instant, the playful and teasing expression on her assistant's face vanished and was replaced with a more composed and professional expression. "Just like you said Ms.Xiu, I'll be off now to start coordinating with the other departments."
And just like a rabbit, Xiu Mei watched her as she ran off and left her sight as quick as a lightning.
Xiu Mei couldn't stop herself from chuckling at her assistant's reaction to her empty threat. Did she really believe she was that heartless to not allow her to consume her number of vacation leave for this year?
She wasn't that heartless, ah.
Well, otherwise if she really does something worth punishing for.
Now, onto the real problem at hand. How should she address the supposed-to-be engagement with Lu Chen to her coworkers?
