The husband and wife immediately rushed home as soon as they realized that they've forgotten to inform Lu Qiang that they'll be home late. Xiu Mei even brought some food and desserts to coax the child if he's angry.
The ride took almost an hour and as soon as they opened the door, they saw that one of the lights in the living room is still on. The nanny, who was standing in the hallway, nodded at them before turning around to return to her room. It seems like she was still watching over Lu Qiang since they weren't home yet.
Xiu Mei nodded back and hastily removed her shoes. She briskly walked towards the living room and there, she saw Lu Qiang curled up on the sofa. He fell asleep while waiting for them to get home.
The two of them paused as soon as they saw this scene. They thought that they'll be welcome by a fuming Lu Qiang but instead, they were welcomed by such a cute scene.
Xiu Mei found Lu Qiang adorable at the moment as she lightly caressed his hair.
Was this day too tiring for him? Did he study so much and finished a lot of homework that's why he's tired?
"I'll carry him upstairs." Lu Chen uttered as he walked around the sofa and bent down to carry the little kid.
Carrying his slippers, Xiu Mei followed behind Lu Chen to Lu Qiang's room. But before they could even reach his room, Lu Qiang slowly woke up while in his father's arms.
Feeling that someone was carrying him, the little kid opened his eyes and was welcomed by the sight of his father's chest. Lu Chen's steps paused as soon as he saw the little kid woke up from slumber.
"Awake?" He asked.
Lu Qiang unconsciously nodded, still a bit drowsy. But after a few seconds, he finally remembered.
THEY DIDN'T COME HOME TO EAT DINNER WITH HIM!!!
As soon as he remembered that his parents didn't call him at all that they'll be home late, he kicked a fuss in Lu Chen's arms. He tried kicking and punching Lu Chen as he tried to get away from his arms.
Xiu Mei, seeing him throwing tantrums quickly stepped in and tried to get him from Lu Chen's arms. However, the kid didn't stop throwing his arms around and accidentally slapped away Xiu Mei's hands that were trying to reach out to him.
Seeing this, Lu Chen quickly held him properly preventing him from moving around anymore.
"Lu Qiang!" He unconsciously raised his voice as he tried to stop the kid from his tantrums. Lu Qiang immediately stopped as soon as he noticed that his father was already getting angry.
He looked at his parents as if he was being wronged as soon as his father yelled at him. Xiu Mei immediately felt guilty when she saw this so she threw a glare at Lu Chen as if she was saying that he was being too much.
Lu Chen who was glared at by the wife:...but you were the one I was angry for.
Damn it, he got angry for his wife and the wife gets angry at him in return. Seriously, why are girls so hard to understand ah?
"Lu Qiang~" Xiu Mei tried coaxing him but the little guy, for the first time, turned his head and ignored her.
"..."
Fine, he can't be coaxed that easily ah.
Lu Chen quickly brought him to his room and laid him on the bed, making Lu Qiang sit up. He immediately turned his back to his parents and sulked.
Bad Mommy. Bad Daddy. How can they forget him ah?
Did they think he was eas to coax ah? Don't they dare try to lie to him. He can smell the scent of meat from their clothes!!
The two ate out without him!!
The more he thought of it, the more Lu Qiang didn't wanna talk to them.
The pair turned speechless as they watched their kid turned his back on them.
Xiu Mei quickly sent a look at Lu Chen who was also looking at her right now. They communicated with their eyes as if they could understand each other. Seeing that Lu Chen wasn't planning to coax the child at all, Xiu Mei immediately hit him in his arm, annoyed that he didn't seem too concerned to apologize to the kid that's all.
Seriously, why is he being like this?! God help her or she'll really beat him up.
She clicked her tongue at him while fiercely glaring at him before finally sitting on the bed, just beside Lu Qiang's as she hugged him by his shoulders.
"Little Qiang, Mommy is sorry okay~" She bent her body a little bit so she could be face to face with the little kid. Seeing his cheeks both puffed up as he sulked, Xiu Mei stopped herself from pinching his cheeks.
The kid just moved his eyes away from her and continued ignoring her. Xiu Mei did not give up and continued cuddling him. She peppered him with kisses in his cheek and forehead as she tried appeasing him.
"I'm sorry, little Qiang. Forgive Mommy and Daddy okay?"
"Do you want some hawthorns? Or some kebab? Mommy bought you food to eat!"
"What do you want us to do? Do you want Mommy to sleep beside you tonight?"
"Little Qiang~"
The kid didn't budge at all no matter how many times she tried coaxing him.
Xiu Mei sent a 'Help' look at Lu Chen, convincing him to coax the child as well. He sighed, surrendering to his wife's request and quickly moved beside the child.
"1 hour at the shooting range." Is what Lu Chen uttered that immediately piqued his interest.
Hearing what his father said, Lu Qiang immediately lightened up as he raised his head to look at his Father.
"No take backs?"
"If you behave."
"Deal!"
Xiu Mei who did her best to coax him:...
So is that all what it takes to cheer him up?

Xiu Mei sent a questioning look at Lu Chen, as if asking him to confirm whether what she was thinking was what he was planning to do. Lu Chen nodded.
...Is he seriously letting the child practice a gun at such a young age?!
Before she could even protest, Lu Qiang quickly returned to his old self and jumped off from his bed to run towards his bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. While he was away, Xiu Mei took the opportunity to scold the father.
"What the hell are you trying to teach to a kid?" She immediately slapped his arm while scooting closer to him.
"Don't worry, I'm training him properly."
"That's not the point!"
"It will be fine. It's just a part of his training so he can protect himself in the future. And he enjoys it." Lu Chen assured Xiu Mei that she has nothing to worry about with Lu Qiang playing with guns.
Since last year, he noticed his son's fascination with guns. At first, he played with some toy guns but eventually, he managed to steal away the gun from one of his bodyguards last year after trying to fool them.
It caused him to get scolded by him for almost an hour but he eventually allowed him to play with guns, but only with a guardian and inside a shooting range for practice.
"You… isn't he too young for that?"
"There's no such thing as too young if it benefits him when he grows up."
"My parents didn't let me touch guns this young."
"What about your brothers?"
"..."
"See?"
"Still…."
Xiu Mei was very worried about Lu Qiang's well being and how it will impact his childhood. Is it really okay to let him learn about guns this young?
"Also, it's not the guns you should be worried about." Lu Chen patted her hair as if trying to raise her spirits. Xiu Mei tried to dodge his touches getting annoyed at him.
"Then what?"
"Your son has insane tech skills."
"Tech skills? So he's good with computer and stuff?"
Lu Chen looked at her as if it was a very unfortunate thing that she wasn't aware of that fact.
"Remember the rumor?"
"What rumor?" She titled her head in confusion. What was he talking about? Why did it suddenly jump to that topic?
"Dating rumors."
"...Ah! Yes, that one. Hey, now that I remember. You didn't try to clarify that at all!" She poked his chest as she accused him of not properly cleaning up that dating rumor.
"Well, I did say I'll never you escape so it didn't matter whether I clarified the rumor or not. But that's not the point. That rumor, did you really think I started that?"
Xiu Mei stopped to think. "Didn't you?"
Lu Chen shook his head. Before Xiu Mei could ask who, she saw Lu Chen turning his head towards the direction of the bathroom.
She followed where he was looking at. After a few seconds, the truth dawned on her.
Her sight immediately returned to Lu Chen who nodded at her, who already predicted what she was going to ask.
Xiu Mei gasped as she fell speechless while returning her sight towards the bathroom. She kept her eyes glued on the door until it opened and a little kid exited the room.
"..."
Doubts seeded in her heart.
Who she thought of as a harmless puppy…. Was she actually nurturing a cunning wolf pup?
