"Oh my god, he... why are they meeting?!"
He watched them talk cheerfully. Something about this meeting felt off.
Truth be honest everything has been going so weirdly after his rebirth.
"They must be meeting casually..." he shook his head.
This road was a one way, and it was not possible to catch a cab from there, especially during the peak time so he decided to cross the road..
Zou Yue stood patiently at the crosswalk after pressing the button. His mother's mask was quite tight around his ears. He simply pulled both his shades and his mask off and placed it in his sling bag.
"pretty.."
A little kid stood next to him, peering with a gappy toothed smile.
"You too.." he whispered with a small smile. He was still traumatised by kids so he stayed at least feet away.
The kid just smiled at him whist fidgeting with a small bag full of kinder surprise egg. Her mother was on call, busy chatting with a deep frown.
The kid smirked at him and waved. "Happy holiday,"
"Happy holidays to you too," he whispered to her and stood calmly. The sign was still red.
His phone vibrated.
"Mum?"
"Yue baby can you buy some braised lotus root on the way." Her gently voice whispered in his ear.
"Yeah, I will get some. Is there any shop you prefer?"
He was busy talking to his mother when suddenly in hindsight he saw the kid ruining into the street.
A car was speeding her way.
"Wait!!!"
Without any hesitation He ran after her and hugged her tightly. The cold wind gushed close to his face, indicating the speeding car.
He did not have time...
He simply closed his eye in fear.
Loud horn and smelt of burning plastic from the screeching tires filled his senses.
Zou Yue slowly opened his eyes a sliver.
The car's name plate was right in front of his face.
"agh," he stumbled back with the kid securely in his arm. "Hey you okay," he pulled her close. She was slightly scared, but uninjured, nonetheless. "You should not run into the road like that!!"
The kid sobbingly handed him a small crushed up kinder ball. "For you.."
With trembling hands, he took the offered candy. "Oh my goodness,"
Might be the close shave with death or the little girl's kindness. Something reduced him to tears. He silently sobbed.
His eyes teared up like a darn waterfall. "Thank you." he hugged her tight. "Thank you for the sweets,"
Her mother took her from him with a panicky expression.
A gentle hand helped him up.
Zou Yue was too busy wiping his face to notice who this saviour was.
"Here, use this," a melodious voice whispered and a white kerchief was held out to his face.
He took it and wiped away the tears. Small scrapes on his hand burned. He swiftly patted the dust away from his open wound. "thank you... I..."
"Don't cry...." a hand gently wiped his cheeks. Zou Yue finally looked up. A pair of warm brown eyes looked down at him with worry written in them. "Are you okay now?"
'Fan..... Xui!'Zou Yue watched him unblinkingly.
Those eyes.
Those deep dark eyes really made him sink in deep, like a death trap they pulled him in not letting him look away.
A sudden loud horn woke him up.
"I—I'm good, thank you." Zou Yue pushed his hand away gently.
"Sorry... I didn't mean to do that. It's just...." Fan Xui tapped his walking stick.
"Oh... it's okay," Zou Yue embarrassingly looked at the ground. This legendary hero did not recognise his voice this time as well.
'Well, I am dressed up as a woman and speaking like one....' he created excused just to keep his heart from breaking.
'But why did I have to meet him now.... so embarrassing. But….. he did not see me. He cannot'
"Thank you so much." Zou Yue handed the kerchief to him and ran to the other side of the road. A cab was thankfully available. He hopped in and left.
Fan Xui blankly walked back to the door, slightly tapping his stick on the ground. He got into his car. His eyes still lingered on the car that went the opposite way.
He swiftly called Qian.
"Is dressing up as a girl a trend in modeling?"
"What the hell are you talking about, my ancestor? I'm trying to do my final testing!!" suddenly there was a loud sound of glass shattering. "fuck!!!!! You!! you ruined it!!"
"Oh sorry, but answer me. Is it a trend?" Fan Xui waited for his answer.
The other side of the phone went silent and subtle sound of gritting teeth was heard.
"No it's not! Wait, I think it might be. I mean harry styles did it and everyone loved it." Qian mumbled.
"I see...." he cut the call without warning and placed it back in so coat pocket. "I think I'm getting older. I need to keep up with the trend. Hua, subscribe to all modelling magazines you can find,"
The assistant who was sitting up front just weirdly smiled at him. "How did you know he was dressed up as a woman, sir? Don't mind me asking,"
"I felt know his face. He usually doesn't wear perfume but his clothes had a tinge of perfume scent you smell in stores. It is usually used in the woman's section especially." Fan Xui lied confidently.
The gullible assistant believed him completely.
