Cybernetic Evolution System Chapter 55

There was no shortage of Heroes with a few screw lose. The difference was how many could count theirs on one hand.

"Have you thought about the club you want to join?" Fredric opted to change the conversation once more.

"Yes," Ezekiel nodded. "I want to join the Bakery club."

Fredric raised a brow in genuine surprise, "I didn’t expect you to be that kind of person."

"I want to try new things."

"Okay. Bakery club, it is. It seems like the best place for you to stay low till you are out of the spotlight," Fredric nodded in approval.

"I’ll help you submit your application to the club. You should receive a reply within half an hour."

"Do you have any questions?" he asked, hoping to get a glimpse into Ezekiel’s thoughts.

Silence enveloped the room.

However, it lasted briefly before Ezekiel responded, "How is the investigation on the culprit who had spread the false rumour regarding us and Instructor Sarafina?"

"Unfortunately, we have yet to make any progress," Fredric shook his head, his expression tinged with a bit of helplessness.

"Whoever has done that has taken drastic steps to ensure that they won’t be uncovered. However, I’ve spoken to instructor Sarafina, and she has promised to do her best on her side. I trust that she would be able to find a clue that would lead us to them."

"It’s only a matter of time before we catch them."

Fredric wondered whether Ezekiel genuinely believed his words.

It would be best if he did.

The only thing that left him worried was that Sarafina would come looking for Ezekiel once she learnt that he had recovered.

Sarafina was a knife he was preparing to chop Ezekiel down.

Both of them were pawns in the larger scheme.

Everything he was currently doing was to force Ezekiel to reveal all the cards he had hidden.

And once Fredric was sure that nothing more was hidden, he would bring down the knife.

As long as his plan succeeded, everything would be settled, and they would bury this case.

Ezekiel nodded, his expression unreadable.

Fredric still couldn’t tell what exactly was going on in his mind.

"Anything else?" Fredric asked.

"No," Ezekiel shook his head.

"Okay, you may leave," Fredric replied, gesturing towards the door and urging him to leave.

Ezekiel nodded. He turned around and walked out of the office, closing the door behind him.

After ensuring that no one was present, Fredric turned to his drawers.

He anxiously rummaged through each drawer.

Suddenly, Fredric stopped and retrieved a small bottle of about 30 millilitres.

He quickly unscrewed its cap and tilted the container towards his other hand.

A bright greyish silvery pill with red strips fell out and landed on his palm.

Fredric immediately took the pill and swallowed it.

His tense body relaxed. A wave of euphoria surged through him, flowing to every fibre of his being.

Fredric’s body trembled uncontrollably for a brief period before he recovered his senses.

He looked into the bottle and frowned, seeing that there were only two remaining.

"I need to get these tasks finished quickly so I can get more."

Fredric muttered in frustration, tightening his fists in frustration.

"Why can’t he just drop dead?"

I returned to my dormitory to rest and wait for the notification alert of my new club’s approval.

As I reached my door, I noticed that the door was opened.

Did someone break into my room again?

I thought the dorm supervisor had already changed the security locks while I was in class, because the dorm had spare security locks for situations .

I’ve pushed the thoughts away to deal with him much seriously later.

Although there were rules that prevented conflict within the dorm, it would be foolish for me to assume that there was everyone would listen to the rules when my life was in danger.

I pushed the door open carefully and walked into the room.

There was no one present.

Still, I didn’t let down my guard.

I checked every corner of my bedroom with measured steps.

I even looked under my bed.

Instantly, I summoned Felix.

With a bright flash of light, Felix appeared before me.

’Do you sense anyone in the room?’

I opted to use Felix’s cybernetic upgrade to scan who was in the room.

Felix’s bluish eyes shone even brightly as he turned from one corner to another.

Through his passive skill, Data Link Sync, the entire layout of my dorm room was mapped into a 3D blueprint within my mind.

I couldn’t see outside of it. I suspected that it had to do with the anti-spying ward placed in each dorm room to prevent students from spying on each other.

I sensed two individuals. They were in the toilet. They appear to be fixing it.

’Good job. Hide under the bed.’

I gave Felix a telepathic command.

Even if they appeared to be the maintenance workers, I wasn’t taking any chances.

Without hesitation, Felix stealthily slipped under the bed and hid.

After my preparations were done, I walked into the corridor, stealthily approaching my kitchen.

I walked into the kitchen.

The ceiling light, which had been partially destroyed, was fully repaired and illuminated the kitchen and the room brightly.

Sink. Tap. Cuboards. Kitchen counter. Table counter and walls, which had also been damaged, were either fixed or replaced with new finishes.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of my toilet flushing.

I quickly walked out of the kitchen.

Seeing two men dressed in green overalls with yellow safety helmets walking out of my bathroom, I sighed in relief.

I realised that Sinbad had followed my instructions and done what I asked him to do.

The men froze as I suddenly appeared before them and blocked their paths.

Their body tensed, their eyes lingering on my sword.

I slide the blade into its sheathe.

"I’m sorry about that," I apologised, "I thought that someone had broken into my home."
