Chapter 172: Probe
My chopsticks paused in mid-air. I raised my brow at him. “Master Liu, do you have a girlfriend?”
“No.” Gu Nian said with absolute certainty.
“But why? You are so good with words and know how to make girls happy. There should be girls falling for you all the time, how can you not have a girlfriend? Among the 7 Brothers, I think you should be the most popular with girls!” I said honestly.
“Why would you say that?” Gu Nian was very patient and kind to me. I didn’t answer because I was chewing on a piece of beef. “Tong Le and Jing Tian should be more popular than I do.” Gu Nian smiled.
I swallowed and shook my head. Gu Nian very caringly passed me a glass of fresh orange juice.
“My little uncle is a piece of wood. He doesn’t even know how to talk to girls. If he has a girlfriend, they will be there by accident.” I was reminded of Jing Ni and Mai Qi. My little uncle didn’t have any woman in his life, the only ones he knew he got to know through me. Jing Ni was forcibly forced onto my little uncle but I knew my little uncle only treated her like a junior. With regards to Mai Qi, my little uncle probably didn’t even remember her.
I promised Mai Qi that I would introduce her to my little uncle when he came back. But what if… My little uncle fell in love with Jing Ni when they were abroad?
The meatball I was holding trembled and fell to the plate. I had to shake the unlucky thought out of my mind. This world is already chaotic enough, there doesn’t need to be more confusion!
Gu Nian picked up the meatball and placed it back into my bowl. He didn’t seem to notice the whirlwind in my head. Of course, I quickly snapped back into attention.
“Then what about Jing Tian?” Gu Nian asked.
“What about him?” My brain was still frizzing.
“Jing Tian is popular with girls too. From what I know, Gu Yan is still very much in love with Jing Tian.” Gu Nian stared at me. I swallowed the meatball and munched. Hmm, delicious! I should bring Mai Qi with me next time!
Gu Nian looked at me eagerly. I believed he was there to be a messenger for Gu Yan. I swallowed and said confidently, “Jing Tian already has me, he doesn’t need any other girls in his life!”
The light in Gu Nian’s eyes darkened. I took a sip of the soup.
Gu Nian looked at me. “Nanxing, you are still young, there is no need for you to settle down so early. In the future, you might run into someone better than Jing Tian! Someone who will treat you with absolute love and focus!”
I smiled as I looked at this gentleman. Honestly, of the 7 Brothers, not counting Jing Tian and my little uncle, I had the best impression of Gu Nian. For some reason, I felt like he was perfect to be my nanny. He was very concerned about my life. Now he was actually worried about my marriage.
I picked up a boiled shrimp and served it to him. A small flame flickered in Gu Nian’s eyes, it made him look even more handsome.
As I watched him elegantly peel off the shrimp shell and ate it, I sighed. “It’s pointless. It doesn’t matter if a better man appears because I have already exhausted all of my love on Jing Tian. There is nothing else to be done. Jing Tian and I are bound together since our previous life. He is not going to escape from me. When he’s alive, he’s my man; if he’s dead, he’ll still be my ghost!” Then I laughed at my own stupid joke. I could already imagine Jing Tian’s reaction should I say this to him. He would be shocked and then rub my head lovingly and helplessly.
Gu Nian’s face paled immediately. He put down his chopsticks and picked up the water glass beside him to take a big gulp. Then he looked at me evenly, “Nanxing, is there anything I can do to make you change your mind?”
I smiled and waved my hand. “No. Even though Jing Tian doesn’t like me to meet up with you, I think you’re a good friend. You’re a very interesting person and I am quite comfortable around you.”
Gu Nian’s expression was hard to read. “Jing Tian doesn’t like you to meet with me?”
I nodded. “Isn’t that normal? Because you are close to the other brothers. My little uncle and Jing Tian are on the other side. Naturally, he doesn’t want me to see you. Plus, you know the kind of person the other Brothers are like!
Gu Nian smiled like there was something joyful on his mind. I didn’t think he was even listening to me.
