I exhaled lightly. “I just hope that we can live a peaceful life. By then, our family of three will be happy. How nice would that be?”
Jing Tian pinched my face. “A family of three? I hope you keep your word. I want a daughter!”
I tilted my head to look at him. “Must it be a daughter? What if it’s a son? Don’t you like a son?”
Jing Tian smiled. “Yes, I like a son, but I like a daughter more. How about a daughter and a son? There’s a family of four!”
Seeing Jing Tian’s silly look, I decided not to tell him for now.
As expected, Jing Tian was right. I didn’t need to message them. They could run over just by smelling the scent.
When we arrived, apart from cousin Mo and Ye Qian, everyone else had arrived.
Mai Qi laughed at me. “Where have you two been? Auntie Lan said that you were supposed to tell us to come for dinner. But you didn’t tell us anything. Do you plan to have all the food to yourself?”
I retorted, “What difference does it make whether I tell you or not? Once the aroma of the food wafts out, you’ll come anyway!”
“What do you mean? Do you think I’m a police dog?” Mai Qi chased after me as if she wanted to hit me.
I hid behind Jing Tian and made a face at her.
Mai Qi pointed at me with her hands on her hips. “Nanxing! Come out and let me hit you!”
I laughed. “Do you think I’m stupid? Even if you’re my aunt, I can’t just let you hit me like that!”
I was hit on the back. I turned around and saw Ye Qian and cousin Mo.
Ye Qian smiled. “How old are you two that you’re still acting like this?”
I sighed. “We have no choice. We have a disrespectful and unreliable elder.”
Mai Qi refused to let it go. She jokingly scolded, “Nanxing! Come over here!”
Ye Qian shook her head and sighed. “No one in this room can control you two.”
Jing Ni smiled and handed Ye Qian a cup of tea. “You have to learn to adapt. With the two of them like this, I reckon that they won’t change even if they live to be 70 years old. Their IQ will remain at five years old and they won’t grow any older!”
“Pretty sister! Why are you here too?!” A clear, bright, and delicate voice suddenly interrupted.
Ah, the five-year-old with an IQ is here!
I turned my head to look and saw Lin Nan in a light yellow dress. She was standing at the staircase in a fresh and refined manner. She was holding Auntie Lan’s arm and her smile was as sweet as a lotus in a summer lake.
Everyone was stunned.
Lin Nan ran towards me quickly with a face full of joy. “Pretty sister!”
Everyone looked at me as if they had seen a ghost.
I looked at the loving Auntie Lan.
Auntie Lan walked over and held Lin Nan’s hand which was about to pounce on me. She said softly, “Be obedient.”
Lin Nan was very obedient. She immediately stood by Auntie Lan’s side obediently, but her big eyes were blinking at me as if I was a plate of braised pork on the table.
Auntie Lan said with a smile, “Look, even Lin Nan knows to look for the prettiest one. Our Nanxing is a pretty big sister.”
Auntie Lan didn’t conceal her pride.
Jing Tian frowned. “What’s going on?”
As soon as Jing Tian spoke, Lin Nan took a step back and hid behind Auntie Lan with a timid look on her face.
Before I could say anything, Auntie Lan said, “Oh, she’s the young miss of the Lin family. She’s recuperating here. Her elder brother, Lin Hua, specially entrusted her to me and asked me to take care of her for a few days. Lin Hua is helping Mr. Li research some medicine. I think this child is quite pitiful, so I brought her along.”
