A planet spins slowly amid the boundless dark universe, the glow of a star soon illuminating half of its surface, while the other half plunges into an even deeper night.
This planet is not rich in water resources, yet on this night, a cold rain begins to fall - a seldom seen water cycle phenomenon that should attract countless inhabitants to watch, but the streets are eerily empty, devoid of any sign of life.
The only sign of activity comes from towering buildings flickering with cold mechanical lights. As the lights sweep across the streets, they reveal burnt-out ruins - such desolation littered across the entire city. Suddenly, a series of shrill laughter echoes once more in the sky above the city.
Upon hearing this sound, almost every building plunges into darkness. In a blink of an eye, this advanced city of the future seems to transform into a ghost town.
At this moment, the screen on the tallest building in the city center suddenly comes to life. A pair of hands grips the camera first, soon followed by a figure wearing a Joker mask appears on the screen, narrating:
"Evening news! Is anyone listening? This is Mister Joker's fifth day here - I really love it!"
"Especially your unique hairstyles. I want one for myself, but you all are avoiding me - it makes me very upset..."
His voice suddenly diminishes, "...do you know? I'm getting a bit fed up. You are all so boring - just shaking your tentacle-filled heads, putting on ferocious faces, and then wailing and screaming..."
"Oh, dear, shouldn't I be the one to cry? I was tricked into coming to this distant planet, surrounded by terrifying monsters. And what have I done? Oh...made seafood risotto? Using you as ingredients, so what?"
Suddenly, his tone turns hysterical, "Do you find me boring? Why are you all so serious?"
As he speaks, one hand leaves the screen and he steps back, revealing a hot, bubbly cooking pot on a steaming stove. A monstrous head hangs over the pot; its longest tentacles have already fallen into the boiling oil, and it is struggling desperately amidst its agonizing screams.
"Who's your leader? A giant octopus? Would he taste better? Or are all of you as stupid as him, with brains that smell like expired mold..."
"So be it, this boring game is coming to an end."
For reasons unknown, all monsters who heard this breath a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of fortunate survival.
Just as that shadowy figure slowly lowers the gray fog formed rope, a figure clad in armor, with two pointed ears on his head, crashes through the window and lands within the room. He orders, "Joker! Stop! Cease this madness now!"
Known as Joker, the figure freezes for a moment. Then he bursts into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. After a while, he straightens up and says, "Look at him, who is this? A freak dressed as a bat..."
"Oh, what did I just say? The game is over?"
"No! No no no!" He suddenly raises his voice, "Mr. Batman's arrival provides a spectacular ending to this opening ceremony!"
"And now ... the show is about to begin!"
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!"
Outside the window, on the roof of another building, Steve hesitates, "I don't know what they're up to, but I have a feeling we shouldn't disturb them."
Stark crosses his arms, tilting his head thoughtfully, "It seems, someone is having a good time. It doesn't seem to require our rescue. Let's get back to work, figure out what's going on here..."
As he speaks, an explosion sound rings out. Stark pilots his mecha to retreat quickly, while Steve is blasted into the air. When they land, the high-rise they were on has collapsed entirely. Stark blocks his front with his arm and exclaims, "Damn it, have they gone mad?!"
"How can they..." Just as Steve begins to speak, he chokes and then says, "Wait a minute, this place isn't Earth, and those monsters aren't human... okay then, I have nothing to say."
Captain America is indeed compassionate and just, but his mercy is reserved for the human race - if we were to extend it a bit further - for those who resemble humans. However, it appears these monsters, each with an average of 16 tentacles on their heads, are clearly not part of that group.
And the explosion they just encountered is but the advent of their perilous alien journey.
Soon, countless attacks capable of obliterating an entire city are launched from above, resounding with terrifying laughter echoing from every screen in the city. The night lengthens, the rain grows colder, and a sense of inevitable chaos engulfs the city.
Not that Gotham has Joker and Batman, but where Joker and Batman are, there is Gotham.
When Joker arrives first, and Batman followed, frenzied chaos and disorder are bound to ensue.
