During the night, Zane was busy on patrol, ensuring that he kept an ever watchful vigil on the building's surroundings. All the while, Elena and Olivia passed out in a classroom, using a bunch of clothes they had scavenged off of dead bodies to form a makeshift mattress.
It was not the most comfortable position to be in, especially since the day before they slept on actual mattresses within the nurse's office, but it was a new reality they needed to become accustomed to.
And while the two women slept, the other survivors who had joined up with them did the same. All except for one man, Mr. Watson was in an especially foul mood after Zane had repeatedly humiliated him. He wanted more than anything to make the man pay, and after stewing in his negative thoughts for several hours, he had finally found a way to do so.
For a very long time, Mr. Watson had fancied Olivia. She was, after all, an exceptionally beautiful woman, even though she was in her mid thirties, and age was catching up with her. Olivia was also unmarried, and without children.
Because of this, Mr. Watson, as the principle had made several overt notions towards the woman over the years, all of which were brutally rejected. But there was nothing stopping him from having his way with the woman now.
After all, society was basically collapsed at this point. And though the government continued to send out press releases from the presidential bunker, the rest of the country was slowly but surely slipping into anarchy.
As much as it pained him to admit it, Mr. Watson had to agree with Zane when the young man said it was a brave new world, and the only law that now existed was the law of the jungle. Because of this, he stealthily crept into the room where Elena and Olivia were sleeping.
The man's beady little eyes, which appeared larger than they were behind his glasses, glistened with malice as he reached out to touch Olivia's substantial bosom. Perhaps it was coincidence, but the mature silver haired beauty awoke just when she was about to be molested by her former employer.
She instantly freaked out, and screamed at Oliver, all while defending herself from his unwanted advances.
"No! Get away from me!"
Yet Oliver did not stop his assault, and pounced on the woman, getting on top of her as he tried to shut her up. After all, if Zane heard her screams, he would be in some serious trouble. The man held one hand over Olivia's mouth, while using the other to rip open her shirt, all while whispering towards her to shut her mouth.
"Keep quiet! Or I promise you that what I'm about to do to you will be the least of your concerns…"
Just when the woman's' blouse was ripped open to reveal her white bra and her large breasts, Olivia reached her hand up and touched the side of Mr. Watson's head. She had on instinct activated her skill [Electric Discharge] instantly sending enough jolts through the man's head to successfully fry an elephant.
The blue electricity entered Mr. Watson's brain, and spread throughout the rest of his body, cooking him from the inside out, all while paralyzing his body. The man could not even scream as he was turned into a smoldering pile of meat.
Apparently, Olivia had resistance to her own powers, because she was not the least bit harmed, as she pushed the man who had been fried to crisp off of her. It was only then, as she stared at the man's charred corpse, did she realize just what she had done and began to cry as she did so.
"Why? Why did you make me do this?"
Elena had woken up because of Olivia's screams and was just about to choke Mr. Watson out when Olivia unleashed her lethal ability. Because of this, she sneered in disdain towards the would be rapist, and instead hugged her former homeroom teacher, trying to console her.
After all, this was the first time that Olivia had directly killed somebody, and it had come only hours after she was indirectly responsible for a student's murder at the hands of an enraged Zane.
She was already struggling to deal with a series of complicated emotions when the now deceased high school principal made matters a hundred times worse for her.
Evidently the woman's sobbing alerted Zane, who patrolling the hallways, where he entered the room to witness the scene of the fat, balding middle-aged man being fried to death. This, of course, did not elicit a hint of emotion out of Zane.
But surprisingly to both Elena and Olivia, he actually asked a question neither of them expected.
"Are you okay?"
Olivia looked up at Zane's cold black eyes with an expression of shock on her beautiful face. After realizing Zane indeed did inquire about her mental state. And because of this, she was quick to shake her head and express her current thoughts.
"No… Not at all… After everything that happened today, I just want to go to sleep and never wake up…"
Zane, however, scoffed when he heard this, before clarifying just what he meant by his question.
"I wasn't asking about your feelings. I want to know if you are physically harmed in any way? After all, we are already low on medical supplies, and I really don't want to waste any on this petty matter…"
The woman frowned when she heard that Zane was indifferent to her emotional suffering. Petty matter. This pathetic little man just tried to rape her while she slept. How was this petty? And she was quick to express this sentiment.
"Petty matter? Do you not realize what just happened here?"
Zane's expression was colder than usual, as was his tone when he finally spoke to the woman in a way that stunned her.
"Yeah, isn't it obvious? Penguin just tried to rape you, and you fried him like panko chicken nuggets with your skill. The issue is resolved, and you are unharmed, so why are you crying about spilled milk?"
After saying this, Zane did not even wait for an answer. Instead, he turned around and left the room, going back to his patrol route. All the while Olivia broke out into tears again, while Elena spent the night consoling her.
