Suddenly, the door was silently opened.
The two women by the bed stood up in unison, thinking a guest had arrived.
They looked towards the door, but before they could make sense of what they saw, they felt a numbness on their necks.
Reaching up, they felt a needle.
They attempted to scream, but the numbing sensation quickly spread to their brains. Their eyes rolled back and with two thumps, they fell to the ground.
Ye Xingbei tilted her head, forcing her eyes open to look towards the door.
Soon, she found herself enveloped in a familiar embrace.
Gu Junzhu lowered his head to kiss her, “It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m here.”
Those were probably the most comforting words Ye Xingbei had ever heard.
She could no longer hold on. Her eyes slowly closed and she finally allowed herself to pass out.
Gu Junzhu unlocked the chains around Ye Xingbei, removed the gag from her mouth, and wrapped her in layers with a bedsheet. He then took off his own jacket, covering Ye Xingbei with it, cradled her in his arms and swiftly left the room.
At the doorway, Qiao Zui and Fang Yao stood guard on each side.
Seeing Gu Junzhu carrying Ye Xingbei out, Qiao Zui’s usually tender eyes were particularly sharp and cold. He glanced at Ye Xingbei in Gu Junzhu’s arms, “Uncle, you take aunt and go, we’ll cover the rear.”
They had entered as guests.
Upon entry, there was no obstruction.
But leaving with a living person was not so simple.
Gu Junzhu nodded, carrying Ye Xingbei towards the exit.
The surveillance system of the brothel had been sabotaged by them, and the security personnel did not notice anything amiss. Nobody blocked their path.
All was smooth until they were about to leave, a gatekeeper questioned them. Qiao Zui stepped forward, swiftly taking him down.
Gu Junzhu, with Ye Xingbei in his arms, walked out the main gate.
The security personnel of the brothel sensed something was off, and while calling for help, they tried to surround them.
Despite having injuries, dealing with this unruly crowd was a piece of cake for Qiao Zui and Fang Yao.
The whole incident had taken them by surprise and there weren’t many guards at the gate, only five or six.
They quickly dealt with them and followed Gu Junzhu.
Gu Chi had also snuck into the brothel with two bodyguards. Seeing Gu Junzhu leaving safely with Ye Xingbei, and Qiao Zui and Fang Yao easily taking care of the brothel’s staff, they managed to exit without revealing their identities, acting like regular customers.
The car raced all the way back to the Gu family estate.
Gu Junzhu got out of the car, holding Ye Xingbei. Xiao Shumiao came running towards them in tears, followed by a worried-looking Lingyue.
Gu Chi stepped forward, taking Xiao Shumiao into his arms, wiping the tears from his face, “Young Master, don’t cry, daddy has brought mommy back. Mommy is sleeping. When she wakes up, she can be with you, alright? ”
“Mommy! I want mommy!” Xiao Shumiao cried his heart out, struggling towards Ye Xingbei.
“Shh! Be good, Xiao Shumiao. If you stop crying, mommy will wake up soon.” Gu Junzhu cooed, carrying Ye Xingbei towards the living room.
The Gu Junzhu that Xiao Shumiao was used to was always graceful and affectionate, always with a smile in his eyes.
But Gu Junzhu at this moment was cloaked in icy coldness, like a drawn godly weapon, radiating a lethal aura that would strike fear into anyone. Even though he intentionally softened his voice, he still managed to scare Xiao Shumiao into wide-eyed silence, the tears held back in his eyes as he dared not cry.
