After making sure that Ye Xingli was tucked into bed and comfortable, he left the room, locked the door, and arranged for a bodyguard to stand watch. He fell asleep with a sense of accomplishment.
The next day, Ye Xingli woke up in a daze.
Sitting in bed, squinting into the morning light, it took him quite a while to fully regain consciousness.

Reaching the living room, he saw Gu Chi face to face.

He let go of Gu Chi’s collar and made a beeline for the front door.
Once outside, he found his brother still kneeling helplessly at the front gate. His body was visibly exhausted, and Zhen Yuan was kneeling next to him, cradling his brother halfway into his arms.
When they had first arrived last night, his brother’s face had been ghostly pale.
Now, his brother’s face was burning red with fever, and his lips were blistering and turning white. “How can you have such a high fever?”

Ye Xingli was left speechless.
All he could do was grit his teeth and turn around. “Brother, let me carry you inside.”

Ye Xingli continued to mutter but his words were too soft for Ye Xinglan to hear.
He gave a small chuckle. For some reason, he thought his little brother particularly adorable at the moment.
Amid his brother’s endless mumbling, the two finally arrived at Ye Xingbei’s bedroom.
There were no obstacles on their way, no one tried to stop them.
Ye Xinglan and Ye Xingli both knew that this was Gu Junzhu’s doing.
Inside the bedroom, Gu Junzhu, Ye Xingbei, Lingyue, and Xiao Shumiao were having breakfast.
Ye Xingbei was healing fast, but his injuries had been severe, and he still needed a few days of bed rest.
Xiao Shumiao didn’t want to eat in the dining room, insisting she wanted to eat with her mother.

“Yes,” Xiao Shumiao nodded seriously, “Looking at Mommy’s face makes me happy and increases my appetite. If Mommy isn’t around and I can’t see her, I won’t have an appetite”
