Gu Junzhu picked up the teacup and took a sip, looking at Ye Xingbei’s intense gaze. With a faint smile, he asked, “Care for a cup?”
Gu Junzhu poured a cup for her and handed it to her, saying, “Be careful, it’s hot.”
Ye Xingbei carefully took it and took a small sip. A faint scent lingered in her mouth, a taste that was completely different from the bitterness of coffee and the sweetness of juice. It wasn’t all that delicious, but it inexplicably made one crave another sip.
Gu Junzhu took another sip, put down the teacup, and smilingly asked Ye Xingbei, “Do you know what the biggest advantage is for a foodie like you in drinking tea?”
Ye Xingbei asked with interest, “What is it?”
“You can drink a lot,” Gu Junzhu laughed. “Whether you like coffee or juice, you can’t replace water with either of them, otherwise, you’ll be close to death. But you can with tea. If you like it, you can drink tea instead of water every day.”
Ye Xingbei: “…That seems to make sense.”
“Of course,” laughed Fifth Lord of Gu, “when have my words ever not made sense?”
Ye Xingbei curled her lips and snorted, “Narcissist!”
Gu Junzhu flicked her forehead: “Ye Xiaobei, you didn’t learn your Chinese well. This is clearly called confidence!”

The two adults and two children had been out playing for most of the day, had a picnic they had made themselves at Yanming Valley for lunch, and for dinner, Ye Xingbei took them to a well-known restaurant near Yanming Valley.
They settled into a private room, and the food came quickly.
While they were halfway through their meal, the soup came.
A waiter served each of them a bowl of soup and then stepped out.
This was what Ye Xingbei and the others insisted on.
They weren’t comfortable having strangers in the room while they were eating.
Gu Junzhu lifted a spoonful of soup to his lips and as soon as the soup touched his lips and he tasted a bit of it, he knew something was off. He put down the soup, his gaze sweeping over Ye Xingbei, Xiao Shu, and Xiao Yue, “You guys haven’t had your soup yet, have you?”
“No,” Xiao Shumiao said candidly, “Daddy, you shouldn’t drink it either! If we have the soup now, we won’t be able to eat the delicious dishes. We should fill up on food first and have the soup last—to fill the gaps!”
Ye Xingbei noticed Gu Junzhu’s especially sharp gaze, so before she could tease her beloved son, she asked him, “What’s wrong?””
“There’s something added into the soup. Don’t drink it.” Gu Junzhu took out his phone and called for Gu Chi to come in.
Xiao Shumiao blinked: “Added something?”
Lingyue frowned, moving the soup away from Xiao Shumiao, “Like adding poison or something similar that’s harmful.”
“Wow, poison!” Xiao Shumiao got scared, his eyes wide open, “Is someone trying to harm us?”
“It’s alright,” Lingyue held Xiao Shumiao’s hand, “Master is very powerful. No one can harm us.”
He looked at Gu Junzhu with admiration and reverence in his eyes.
Master is truly extraordinary.
Just a touch of the soup on his lips allowed him to know that something had been added to it.
He wanted to learn well from his master so that when he grew up, he could be as powerful.
“Did you drink it?” Ye Xingbei grabbed Gu Junzhu’s arm, her heart pounding, “What was put in there? Is it serious?”
