In the bedroom, Chi Zhen slept soundly.
Suddenly, an unusual noise woke him up.
He opened his eyes and saw someone standing by the window.
He jolted upright, “Who’s there?”
He didn’t know when the curtain had been drawn open. Illuminated by the dim light cast from the yard, he could clearly see the face of the person by the window: Shi Muqiao.
He widened his eyes in horror and shook his head subconsciously, “No…impossible… who are you?”
“Don’t you recognize me?” Shi Muqiao walked slowly to his bedside, and bent down to face Chi Zhen’s terrified gaze, “Do you see clearly now? Who am I?”

“No…Impossible!” Chi Zhen opened his eyes wide in terror, staring intently at Shi Muqiao’s face, “Impossible…Impossible…”
“Fact is stronger than eloquence!” Shi Muqiao shrugged his shoulders, “Am I not here, standing well and alive? Since I’m not dead, the person who died isn’t me, therefore…you killed the wrong person!”
“Impossible…Impossible…” Chi Zhen turned as pale as a ghost, shaking his head repeatedly, “I saw it clear as day…How could it be possible?”
“Third elder brother,” the curtain shifted, and a girl walked out from behind it. Somehow, he got hold of a dagger and suddenly lunged at Shi Muqiao.
Shi Muqiao grabbed his wrist and twisted it.
Chi Zhen screamed in pain as the dagger clattered to the floor.
Shi Muqiao seized his wrist and, with a swift move, pressed him against the wall.
The light abruptly brightened, forcing Chi Zhen to close his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, his uncle, Chi Yue, and his cousin, Chi Yu, were standing not far away, looking at him coldly and angrily.
He shivered with a jolt, turning his head swiftly to glance at the “Shi Muqiao” who had twisted his arm.
The “Shi Muqiao” gave him a slight smile. He immediately realized that this was not Shi Muqiao, but a man who just looked somewhat like Shi Muqiao and had disguised himself to look like Shi Muqiao.
Then he looked at Chi Qing again.
Even Chi Qing was not real.
