It was a female Night Demon!
“Did you really bring this thing in?!”
Henrik looked completely serious.
“Do you think this female Night Demon can truly serve any purpose in the trial?”
Henrik questioned back.
He casually took away the dice floating on Roger’s palm, saying, “Don’t use your narrow perspective to speculate on my intentions.”
“I’ve given this trial an appropriate name–The Choice Between Angel and Demon.”
“Upon completing the corresponding trial, Demon Hunters will be guided here based on their actions and choices in the Illusionary Realm.”
Under Henrik’s guidance, Roger’s consciousness sank into the environment, and soon the scenery around him began to change.
Wooden floors, goat-skin rugs, a grand and gilded hall with figures moving back and forth. The lighting wasn’t bright, but it was sufficient for Roger to clearly see the faces and outfits of those passing by.
Without exception, every figure his eyes landed upon was either a stunning woman… or a handsome man.
Roger could understand placing women here, but men? Well, though nowadays the number of female Demon Hunters in Kaer Morhen was considerable, it was still obvious they didn’t need so many men.
Suppressing the impulse to dig further, Roger noticed that the crowd bustling in the hall seemed entirely oblivious to him and Henrik. Casually, Roger grabbed a chair and sat down.
The illusion here felt almost real–with its elegant environment, sumptuous food, beautiful women moving gracefully, and the lovely music flowing from a high platform in the distance.
But no matter how it was decorated, there was no hiding the fact that this was a den of debauchery!
Clearly, Henrik must have gone to great lengths to craft such a realistic Illusionary Realm.
“You spent so much effort, and this is what you came up with?”
Roger couldn’t help but quip.
“What do you know? This place reflects decades of my experiences. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every woman you see here actually existed.”
Henrik looked smug. “For any man, this place would be paradise.”
Roger curled his lips. Although in certain games, he had occasionally controlled Geralt to visit such places in the city… ahem…
But this? Using such a place as a trial ground–was that really appropriate?
“After experiencing killing or challenging trials, people’s minds often struggle to settle. You’ve surely gone through something similar.”
Henrik looked around the room. “Look around–can you think of a better place to relax than this?”
He looked greatly pleased with himself.
Roger opened his mouth, feeling as though he should be able to think of over a hundred reasons to refute Henrik, yet in the end, he had to admit there was some truth to what the guy was saying.
“Aren’t you worried that your so-called reward might turn into someone’s twisted indulgence?”
Roger considered an unsettling possibility.
Surely, some people would participate in the trials repeatedly just to pursue beauties.
Henrik let out a cold chuckle.
“Of course, there’ll be people like that. Let them come–they’ll soon understand what it means when I say the line between paradise and hell is razor-thin.”
As his voice trailed off, the women bustling around them suddenly halted. All their gazes locked onto Roger without blinking.
In that instant, the unique appearances of the numerous stunning women morphed into a singular form.
The female Night Demon.
Roger’s expression changed as he imagined the scene of a lone man confronting these Night Demons.
He pointed a finger at Henrik.
