Demonic Skeleton God Chapter 66

The last monster ran in the opposite direction, but Zheren raised his hand. With a single throw, he hurled a dagger he had pulled from a small pouch that was strapped to a cord tied around the waist of his armor.

The dagger lodged directly into the spine of the fleeing monster. The creature collapsed to the ground without a single scream. Zheren walked up to the monster, finished it off, retrieved his dagger, and put it into his spatial bag. Then he went to each corpse and placed them into the spatial bag as well.

Yes, it was quite unusual for someone like Zheren, but he had learned how to throw daggers.

It was actually Itai who first came up with the idea, because some monsters would try to flee, and since Zheren wasn’t exactly fast, he had to chase them for a long time. He grew to like throwing daggers and now sometimes used them even in normal combat, though he was still far more experienced with a sword.

They continued deeper and along the way encountered another group of the same furry monsters. After that, they came across a stronger group of monsters, and one of them even exploded on the brink of death. However, Zheren was able to defeat them without major injuries.

After a while, they ran into three monsters that could match Zheren. They were large gray humanoids with gray skin and green bubbles all over their bodies. They had two enormous arms that reached all the way to the ground, ending in huge lumps covered in an extreme number of green bubbles.

Zheren had fought these monsters many times before, and they always gave him a hard time. But he usually fought one or two at most—this was the first time they encountered a group of three.

The first of the trio roared and charged straight at Zheren. The ground trembled under its weight. Zheren dodged to the side, but the second humanoid immediately swung its arm at him. The blow struck the shoulder of Zheren’s armor, which was damaged under the impact. Zheren backed away, but before he could recover, the third attacker was already swinging down at him.

Zheren blocked the strike, slipped beneath the massive arm, and slashed at the nearest monster’s knee with his sword. The wound was deep, but the monster struck back. This time, Zheren blocked the attack, but the force drove him to his knees.

Zheren stood up. His arm had been hit, but it was still functional. He pulled out a dagger and threw it into the chest of the most injured monster. It struck between the bubbles, and the monster didn’t seem to like that very much.

The monsters spread out. One attacked from the left, another from the right, and the third head-on. Zheren blocked them fairly well but started to retreat, then stumbled over a stone and lost his balance.

At the last moment, he spun and slashed with full force at the monster’s leg, severing it. The massive body of the monster fell, but before it hit the ground, the second attacker struck Zheren in the back with its fist.

Zheren blocked the blow and pulled back, drew a second dagger, and threw it straight into the forehead of the monster, which fell to the ground. The monster was stunned, but still alive—it looked like Zheren had found their weak spot.

Zheren charged at them and began attacking, though they were dodging surprisingly well.

Zheren’s mind was consumed by anger—these monsters were far too fast, and that was getting really annoying.

Zheren gripped the hilt of his sword and clenched his jaw. His gaze darkened and his movements became sharper. The anger boiling inside him could no longer be suppressed. He was undead, but his rage was real—just like the death he brought.

One of the monsters tried to attack, but Zheren instantly struck it in the face with his sword and knocked it to the ground, killing it in the process.

He turned, leapt over the body of the dead monster, and with a single arcing strike severed the arm of the second. The monster screamed and staggered back, but Zheren didn’t wait. From a standing point, he stabbed its chest twice and then drove the sword straight into its head. The bubbles burst, green liquid spilled across the floor, but Zheren didn’t stop.

The third monster, which had already recovered from the stun, lunged forward and exchanged a few blows with Zheren. Zheren’s sword and the monster’s arm clashed, and Zheren overpowered it with raw force. But the monster circled behind Zheren and struck him hard in the back.

Zheren didn’t hesitate—he spun quickly and drove his sword deep into the monster’s body. Then he pulled it out and kicked the monster hard into the wall.

Zheren walked over, ready to finish it off. But then the green bubbles on its body started to bubble violently.

A massive explosion went off. Zheren had expected it when he saw what was happening to the monster’s body, so he immediately started running. Unfortunately, he wasn’t fast enough to fully avoid the blast, which struck him in the back and threw him across the cave.

Itai stood far enough back to avoid taking any damage; in dungeon 15, where they currently were, he was being especially cautious.

Itai’s gaze landed on Zheren. "Damn, we lost the corpse of a valuable monster, and now Zheren can’t even fight properly," he muttered to himself.

After a while, Zheren got up and placed the two monster bodies into the spatial bag. The third monster’s body had exploded, so there was nothing left of it.

Zheren’s armor was quite damaged, but nothing too serious. There were no holes, so his skeletal body wasn’t visible. Under the armor, however, many of his bones were broken. Luckily, he was a Bone Guardian, so he could endure a lot.

There was still space in one spatial bag, so they headed up, where Zheren killed a few weak monsters—he was too damaged to handle stronger ones.

Then they went to the Adventurers’ Guild, where they sold the corpses, and Itai finally had some peace. At the villa, he opened the silver book and began to study.

After an hour, he already understood the first page, but there was still much ahead of him. It was very different from necromancy, and yet a bit similar. Itai didn’t plan to go to the bar today—he enjoyed this more.

Days began to pass once again...
