Lucas Harlow’s smile momentarily froze on his face.
He turned his eyes and glanced at Ruby Sheldon, lightly smiling, "Betty is just as observant of people outside of your mom and dad. Seems like who you care about most isn’t your parents anymore, and that’s a good thing."
Ruby Shelon’s smile stiffened as well.
Lucas’s gaze was almost "kind," and with a reassuring tone, he said, "Taking focus away from your mom and dad and starting to care about those around you is a sign of growing up. Betty, at least after turning twenty, now appears more adult. — Keep it up!"
Ruby blinked her eyes quickly, hurriedly saying, "Uncle, don’t talk nonsense. Clearly, the people I care about most are still my mom and dad. How could I be paying attention to others?"
"You aren’t paying attention to others? Then why are you so clear about Miss Winters’ business?" Lucas tilted his head, his smile becoming even more harmless and accommodating.
"What do I know? I’m not clear at all, that’s why I talked to Uncle about it!"
"Oh really? If you aren’t clear, how can you say that Miss Winters is popular with many men?" Lucas’s smile gradually faded, his face becoming serious, "Betty, the Sheldon Family has always been very strict. If you start gossiping around like city folk, what will your parents think if they find out?"
"But I haven’t been gossiping everywhere! I just talked to Uncle, is that not allowed?" Ruby pitifully twiddled her fingers, her eyes slightly lowered, looking at the floor, "Uncle knows very well I’ve never really had many friends..."
Lucas thought, given his sister and brother-in-law spoil kids so much, who dares to be friends with this little Princess?
If it weren’t for this familial relationship, he would have stayed respectfully distant long ago.
He shook his head, saying, "Friends require sincerity to be exchanged, of course. If you’re only looking for casual friends, you won’t be troubled, as a wave of your hand could line up a bunch of friends in front of you."

She couldn’t help but ponder if she was being a bit insincere...
Upon hearing, Ruby blinked at Lucas, saying, "I got it. Seems like Uncle really likes Miss Winters. Rest assured, I..."
Before she finished her sentence, Lawrence could no longer listen.
She couldn’t let Ruby continue to meddle in her affairs.
Lawrence knocked on the door forcefully, loudly saying, "Is Lucas in there? It’s Lawrence."
Lucas’s joy flashed across his face.
He turned his head, seeing Lawrence Winters standing gracefully at the door, and her smiling face was refreshing no matter how many times one saw it.
Lucas was only with Ruby in the room, to avoid any misunderstandings, he had kept the door open.
Thus, Lawrence knocked only as a formality, to remind the people inside she was there.
Earlier, she had walked over from the hallway, leaning against the wall at the corner of vision for the two inside, so neither noticed her.
Now, seeing her arrive, Ruby’s face showed an undeniable fluster, with a little redness.
After all, she had just talked behind someone’s back and that person stood before her.
She wondered if they had heard what she said just now.
As Ruby was pondering, Lucas already asked, "Lawrence, you’re here? Are your injuries all better? Is it work time, or are you specially here to see me? Come in and sit, when did you arrive?"
"My injuries are healed, today is the first day at work, just arrived, came together with Manager Fu." Lawrence said as she walked into Lucas’s room, confidently taking a seat on the sofa he pointed out.
Sitting directly opposite Ruby, and on the same sofa as Lucas.
Ruby awkwardly twiddled her fingers, smiling, "Miss Winters, we were just talking about you earlier, didn’t expect you to come."
"Oh? Really? What were you saying about me?" Lawrence crossed her legs, socially far more at ease than Ruby, even blinking at her, "Quick, tell me! I love hearing people talk nice about me the most!"
Ruby was at a loss.
In terms of bantering, ten Ruby Shelons wouldn’t be a match for Lawrence Winters.
Children spoiled in households can’t compare with Lawrence Winters, who, since age six, followed her uncle to read the room as they wandered through fortune-telling and face-reading.
