“You’re awake!” Rong Qianchen quickly walked to the side of Gu Qingxin’s bed, raising his hand to touch her forehead. She had a bit of a fever when he saved her yesterday.
“Rong Qianchen, why am I here?” Gu Qingxin croaked out, her voice hoarse.
“You fainted by the roadside yesterday. I happened to pass by and brought you back here,” Rong Qianchen explained simply, while pouring her a glass of water.
“And my clothes…” Gu Qingxin took the glass of water and instinctively clung on to her blanket.
“My housekeeper changed your clothes!”
Rong Qianchen explained, even though it was like that, when he picked her up from the roadside yesterday, she was wearing nothing… not even her underwear…
Remembering the marks on her body yesterday, a thick murderous intent flashed through Rong Qianchen’s eyes. The housekeeper later told him that she had clearly encountered something horrible that had injured her severely.

Gu Qingxin had no idea what he was thinking. She took a sip of water and asked, “How are your injuries? I’m really sorry about last time.”
“I’m already all right, you don’t need to worry about it. It’s not like you were the one who hit me.” Rong Qianchen gave a dismissive laugh.
Gu Qingxin blinked hard at the sight of the small dimple on his lips. Although it was not her first time seeing it, she was still surprised.
“You haven’t eaten in a while you must be hungry. I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare something for you. Your clothes are in the closet.” His laughter cut short, Rong Qianchen stood up, took one last look at her, then turned and left.
Gu Qingxin waited until he was gone before getting up to open the wardrobe. Inside hung a row of women’s clothes, she chose the simplest sportswear. Looking at the underwear beneath, she hesitated. She could borrow clothes but she couldn’t possibly borrow underwear, could she?
Eventually, Gu Qingxin took a pair of disposable pasties from the side, grabbed a tight-fitting camisole, and put them on under her clothes.
Rong Qianchen knocked on the door as Gu Qingxin was just finishing putting on the clothes. “Come in,” she said.
Rong Qianchen entered and saw her standing barefoot on the floor. He found a pair of socks and shoes for her.
“You had a bit of a fever last night and you can’t catch a cold now, sit down.” Rong Qianchen guided her onto the bed, then naturally knelt down to help her put on socks.
“I can do it myself!” Gu Qingxin awkwardly tried to retrieve her foot, but Rong Qianchen ‘s large hand gently held her ankle and insisted on putting the socks on her.
