“Where are the band-aids?” She looked up and asked him.
Beiming Han glumly tightened his lips and jerked his chin towards the direction of the living room. Gu Qingxin immediately ran over, finding the first aid kit under the TV cabinet…
Gu Qingxin found a band-aid from the kit and ran back to the kitchen, carefully sticking it onto his wound.
“Alright, go rest in the living room. I’ll take care of the cooking, so we don’t risk burning this place down again.” Gu Qingxin headed for the refrigerator.
“It wasn’t me who burnt your kitchen! It was just an old appliance that broke down by itself!” Beiming Han angrily retorted, his head snapping up.
“Oh.” Gu Qingxin took a tomato out of the refrigerator.
“I’m serious! It has nothing to do with me!” Beiming Han adamantly refused to admit that he had managed to set the entire kitchen on fire just trying to cook one meal.
“Mmhm.” Gu Qingxin nodded nonchalantly.
After thinking it over, Gu Qingxin decided to make Beiming Han’s favorite hand-rolled noodles. Although it’s time-consuming, she was compelled to make it when she thought of how much he enjoyed it.
By the time she served the noodles, Beiming Han was already starving. Normally, he often skipped dinner, but since he fell ill, he could no longer feel hunger.
But the ramen that she prepared, all it took was a single whiff and he would feel hungry.
To him, being able to feel hungry was a blessing in itself…
Beiming Han looked down at the fried egg in his bowl, then looked at hers – it only had noodles.
“Why is there only one egg?”
“All the others got smashed. This one is the lone survivor.” Gu Qingxin lifted her head to glance at him.
Looking at her slim figure, he split the egg in his bowl in half and placed a half in her bowl.
“Eat it! Enough with all this chit-chat.” Beiming Han lowered his head and started eating his noodles.
Gu Qingxin also lowered her head, quietly eating, the corners of her mouth reflexively curling up in a smile.
Neither of them spoke, but there was a special warmth lingering in the air.
After dinner, Gu Qingxin washed the dishes and headed for her bedroom. She didn’t find Beiming Han there, and had no clue where he had gone to, so she decided to go to the bathroom to freshen up.
Upon coming out, she found him standing on the balcony, the ember of a cigarette pulsating between his fingertips.
Was he troubled about something?
The idea made her heart clench.
Beiming Han’s phone rang. He turned and walked in, his inquisitive gaze meeting hers at the doorway. Gu Qingxin looked down at his flashing phone. It displayed the name ‘Shushu’.
Almost instantly, Gu Qingxin knew that this was the name of the woman in black who had been with Beiming Han.
Beiming Han went to pick up his phone and Gu Qingxin turned, preparing to leave, not wanting to eavesdrop on his conversation with another woman. But with a swift extension of his arm, he pulled her in towards him, he sat down on the bed with her on his lap.
“Let go of me!” Gu Qingxin tried to break free of him, but he only tightened his hold, not giving her a chance to escape.
He answered the call,”Hello.”
Ye Yingsu was driving and noticed she was being tailgated. “I’m in a bit of a bind.”
“Where are you?” Beiming Han’s brows furrowed slightly.
Ye Yingsu gave him her location. Beiming Han immediately stood up and said, “I have to step out, you can go to sleep.”
