DESTINY GAMES Chapter 185

He can now live without breathing for a short period of time thanks to Life Steal. The control it has granted his life force means he can hold on for longer without oxygen.

But even by his best estimate, he can't last 1 hour without air. He is nowhere near capable of decades of inanimation and stasis at all.

The other reason why they don't feed it is to make keeping the lesser vampire imprisoned easier. He couldn't argue with that wisdom as it reduces the stress of handling the vampire and reduces the feeding expense.

The saving grace is that he could put the other cases on it and carry them together. The combined weight of the rest didn't even reach half of the lesser vampire's.

He picked up his goods and left eagerly. It wasn't difficult for him at all. The only difficulty he faced was coming out of the lake with his package.

He had to walk since he couldn't swim with his load. He walked across the bottom of the lake until he reached the shore.

His heavy weight and the soft ground made it nearly impossible for him to walk without his feet sinking into the lake bed. So he dragged the cases along the bed instead.

When he came ashore, he picked up the cases and rushed in the direction of the closest abandoned city to find some privacy.

Despite the heavy load he was carrying, he didn't feel much strain. He could still manage to run at a speed of 200 kilometers per second.

His feet created a loud noise as he ran, but there was no one around to hear it apart from the incursion zombies. He was virtually the only human around, so he didn't encounter any trouble when he was looking for a place to use his ability.

He was hoping for a basement, but he couldn't find one quickly. So he broadened the scope of his search and found a suitable place up in an abandoned skyscraper.

He dropped the cases and took no time in opening them. The lesser vampire was the first one he dealt with. He didn't want anything to go wrong, so he decided to deal with it first before moving to the others.

He had made light of the need to sign a waiver, but he found that it was weighing more heavily on his mind than he thought it would.

He felt that he wouldn't be able to relax with the huge responsibility still present. He wanted to kill the vampire and get rid of the responsibility as fast as possible.

His heart was pounding faster than normal as he unsealed the vampire. There was a collar around its neck. It was essentially a series of tattoos around its neck created from scars caused by burns.

It is a piece of mystical technology that he doesn't know about. Astro had waxed eloquently about it being state of the art, but now that he was unsealing the vampire, he didn't feel much confidence in the controller that they gave him.

He placed his hand on the vampire as soon as a surface was revealed. The skin of the vampire was hairy and cold to the touch. It felt like he was touching a cold dead dog. But he didn't let these sensations undermine how dangerous a predator the lesser vampire was.

He activated his ability immediately. His golden tattoos became revealed, and a golden light began to shine through his skin. The golden light also extended to the body of the vampire.

Those were just the visual effects of the use of his ability. It doesn't mean his ability will work. It hadn't worked on a human once, and it is likely it won't work on a non-human race.

He muttered repeatedly, "Please let it work, please let it work..."

Wrath shrugged and said, "I'll try, but I don't think I can influence it in any way."

"I wasn't asking you."

Wrath feigned confusion and asked, "Really? It looked like it."

He struggled not to chuckle as he said, "Please, let me concentrate."

She sighed. "Again, I wish I could help, but I doubt I can influence your mind."

He was about to tell her that shutting up would help, but he stopped and inhaled sharply instead because his ability had found something to grab onto within the lesser vampire.

His Power Shifting ability had been searching around the body of the unconscious vampire for up to ten seconds with no avail. But then it found something and pulled on it.

There was some resistance, but whatever was holding down the ability with the lesser vampire broke with a snap. Then the golden light receded out of the body of the vampire and returned to his.

The lesser vampire didn't react throughout the whole process. It only solidified and cracked after he removed its ability. The controller showed that it was dead.

Kelvin muttered uncertainly, "Either it is dead or it has become free. I hope it is the former. I hope I didn't just steal the control over it."

Wrath said, "I think it is dead."

He didn't take her word for it. He decided to be sure, so he destroyed the body of the vampire. There was no resistance, but it wasn't easy to do. It was because the body of the vampire had become as hard as a rock.

His plan to get rid of the bodies by burning them wasn't going to work. He had to break the corpse of the vampire with his hands. He smashed pieces of its body against each other and stepped on others with his foot.

He didn't stop until he had crushed its whole corpse into dust. Only then could he relax and sigh in relief.

He sat on the ground and said to Wrath, "I think what you said about these vampires being strong enough to fight the Yggdrasil civilization spooked me. That and the need to sign that waiver. It made me feel like I was messing with something that could go beyond my control and lead to serious repercussions."
