Detective Agency of the Bizarre Chapter 171

Pursuer “It seems like you’re always looking at something…

Is there something in the clouds?”

Anna looked suspiciously along Mr.

Luli’s gaze toward the sky, and to make sure she was looking at the same spot as him, she moved closer to Mr.

Luli’s head and peered out the window.

Outside the window, a narrow patch of sky showed nothing but overcast clouds.

She was about to say something when she noticed Mr.

Luli had stood up; she quickly moved back to avoid overlapping with him physically.

“Where are you going?”

Luli had not returned all night, and Anna had many questions to ask.

“I’m going to refill the oil lamp and, while I’m at it, buy your book,” Mr.

Luli said, dropping his rolled-up sleeves and walking to the door.

He grasped the doorknob and gently exerted force; then he turned his head back and asked, “Do you need anything else brought back?”

Anna, floating behind the desk, waved her hand towards Mr.

Luli turned back his gaze, and suddenly, behind the opened door, a dozen rigid, gray, identical faces collided head-on!

Luli’s pupils narrowed slightly, but that was all as he recognized the source of these faces—a bouquet made of Shillings.

The bouquet made of Shillings was held in a slender pale hand, shifted to the side, revealing a cheek that no matter how many times seen could still involuntarily astonish.

Unlike the first time she was seen at the Police Station, her face no longer bore the rich, exaggerated, aggressive makeup.

Seemingly without makeup, her lips had shifted from a glamorous purple to a lighter apricot color.

Simply put, today she appeared to be without makeup.

My butler said it would be more sincere to deliver to you personally,” she said.

Her voice was as hoarse as usual, coupled with a deep tone, which unexpectedly carried a comforting magnetism.

Luli did not respond, his gaze lowered.

She was dressed in a perfectly tailored men’s suit, her golden ponytail sleekly rising behind her head, her narrow ruby eyes enchanting.

If her long hair were cut short and she were to bind her chest, most young women would be unable to resist this gracefully noble and handsome baron.

Luli’s gaze, Baron Joseph smiled generously, “Dressing this way seems more appropriate.

Allow me to introduce myself—I am Aileen Joseph, Baroness of the Earlen Peninsula Duchy, delighted to meet you.”

The temporarily put aside bouquet of Shillings was handed back in front of Mr.

Luli said calmly, accepting the bouquet, then added, “I quite like it.”

It was hard to tell if Mr.

Luli’s last remark was due to the baron’s gesture of goodwill or the Shillings made into a bouquet.

The only pity was there was just one bouquet.

Suddenly, a soft voice spoke near his ear, Mr.

Luli slightly tilted his head; he didn’t see Anna whose voice it was.

“A guest,” he replied.

Baron Joseph maintained a standard noble smile, slightly tilting his head, “Hmm?

Who are you talking to?”

Luli handed the bouquet behind him.

His brief reply and expressionless face made him appear somewhat unsociable, especially right after receiving a gift.

Baroness Joseph did not find it problematic, quite the contrary, it excited her—

“Do you have a girlfriend?” she exclaimed, then instantly regained her standard smile, “It’s okay; I don’t mind.

I assure you, I will be more for you than your girlfriend—what is that?!”

Baroness Joseph abruptly noticed behind Mr.

Luli, the Shillings bouquet floating mid-air, as if held by an invisible presence.

“Anna is…” The elegant smile faded from the baroness’s face, her eyes widened, her eyelashes fluttering.

“My point is, why is she transparent…”

“Because she’s a ghost.”

“…” Baron Joseph took a deep breath, causing the buttons on her chest to tighten.

She strained a weak smile and looked up at Lu Li, “Help me.”

As Lu Li asked, Baron Joseph suddenly felt weak in the legs, and held onto the wall to prevent herself from collapsing.

I can do it myself!” Joseph’s cheeks burned with heat, and she dared not look up at Lu Li, waving her hand to the unmoved Lu Li.

“What a terrible meeting, damn it!” Baron Joseph, leaning on the hallway wall, walked out.

She cursed softly and then tried to speak softly and tenderly, “Mr.

Luli, I just remembered I haven’t watered my manor yet.

I need to go back and fix that.

Once my legs are not so weak—no, once I take care of the manor’s chores, I’ll come back for you.”

She pushed open the Long House door and left the corridor without daring to muster the courage to look back.

“She seems to have gotten scared by me…

Should I go and comfort her?”

Anna appeared beside Lu Li, holding the bouquet and whispered.

“You comfort her?” Lu Li queried.

Of course it’s you!” Anna covered her stomach and laughed, her smile suddenly turned melancholic, “If I went, it would only scare her more…”

Lu Li wasn’t inclined to do so, “No need.

I only want her money; I don’t want any involvement with her.”

“Don’t say such terrible things so bluntly!”

Baron Joseph, with her head buried, walked back to the carriage with trembling steps.

Fortunately, she had taken the initiative to wear men’s clothing today, and no one recognized her.

“Is that guy really that powerful?

To make your legs weak.”

A light exclamation came from the carriage, and Baron Joseph snorted coldly, “Nonsense, he scared me!”

A corner of the carriage curtain lifted, and the petite stewardess in a tuxedo helped her master, “Is that guy really that powerful?

To scare you to the point of weak knees.”

“I told you it wasn’t that—” Baron Joseph argued but looked into the caretaker’s teasing eyes.

“I never said it was.”

“Tsk.” Baron Joseph simply refused to defend herself and shifted the topic begrudgingly, “What kind of investigation did you do?

His Detective Agency even has a ghost!”

The petite stewardess pushed her thick round glasses up her nose and helped the baron onto the carriage, “As an exorcist, dealing with ghosts is a very normal thing.

I think you should understand his profession.

Frankly speaking, if you entertain unauthorized ideas about him, you’d better overcome that.”

“It was just for fun,” Baron Joseph muttered stubbornly.

“You need to overcome that too.”

Baron Joseph’s gaze dodged, her voice losing much of its confidence, “Not today, my legs are weak…”

The petite stewardess sighed lightly, no longer reprimanding Baron Joseph, “Very well, but please be cautious in the future and avoid showing such weakness in front of others.”

Baron Joseph was momentarily stunned, gradually containing her emotions, seemingly returning to the rumored Baron Joseph of Belfast.

Her voice was hoarse as she spoke.

The carriage slowly moved, leaving the Long House.

From a window in the carriage, a pair of ruby-like eyes stared at a figure that appeared in front of the Long House door, the fists under the sleeves tightening bit by bit.
