Detective Agency of the Bizarre Chapter 479

The Origin of Old Mother 479: 336.

The Origin of Old Mother The viscous depths of the deep sea began to tremble with the vibrations of imminent collapse, as the Human-faced Worms forming whirlpools around Lu Li carried the silver-plated bullets, surging towards the very source of it all, the Mother of the Old Swamp.

The giant face of the Old Mother contorted in a hideous roar, fear hiding in the depths of its emotions.

Its power was resisting itself.

An indescribable confrontation arose between the Old Mother’s face and the Human-faced Worms, as if converging around Lu Li, escorting the silver-plated bullets through the viscous seawater.

The Human-faced Worms pounced on the Old Mother’s face, venting their accumulated hatred, gnawing at her visage.

Her skin shattered, revealing horrifying flesh beneath, which when consumed, exposed chilling white bones.

The bones, too, were devoured, revealing a blood-red point of light in the depths of the Old Mother’s brain.

With no obstacles in the way, the silver-plated bullets unwaveringly drilled into the corroded space, shooting towards the point of light.

The full-of-fear shriek of the Old Mother was cut short.

A crack appeared above the blood-red point of light, as if a snap could be heard, and the fissure spread, creeping outwards.

The Human-faced Bug Swarm stopped, quietly observing the unfolding scene, and what was about to happen.

A crisp shattering sound echoed in every corner of the viscous deep sea.

The shattered blood-red light, enchanting like a star, turned into countless comets, plunging into the abyss.

At the same moment, the scenery around Lu Li underwent a transformation.

Lu Li was drawn into fragments of death.

the Old Mother had vanished.

Lu Li found himself in the damp, dark green marsh jungle, quietly musing.

The scene that was about to unfold…

Lu Li turned his head to look towards the jungle.

The viscous footsteps originating from the deep jungle disturbed the quietude of the marsh, and among the silhouettes of the trees, a graceful figure dressed in an exquisite vintage red dress ran towards Lu Li.

Lu Li’s gaze rested upon the beautiful face of the girl.

This face was identical to the human form of the Mother of the Marsh and the giant face manifested by the Old Mother.

The Mother of the Marsh was not naturally born, nor was it born of faith.

Under Lu Li’s observation, the girl passed by him carrying the hem of her dress and her shoes, the disturbed air carrying a faint scent of perfume.

She kept looking back as if something was chasing her.

However, with Lu Li’s appearance here, it was doomed for her not to get far.

The girl ran five or six meters away and stepped into a patch of mud indistinguishable from the surrounding marshland, her fair ankles sinking into the mire.

She nearly fell but regained her balance and tried to pull her legs out of the mire when suddenly, she covered her mouth, staying quiet and widened her eyes, looking in the direction from which she had come.

Faint cries were coming from afar.

What followed the girl was not an enemy or a strange creature, but more like a servant searching for their master.

The girl did not dare to make a sound, warily watching the direction from which the shout originated.

Fortunately, those she was evading did not venture deep into this area; the calling echo ebbed away, growing distant.

The girl who stayed quiet sighed in relief, leaning down to pull her calves out of the mire.

The girl had yet to realize the gravity of her situation.

Just as Lu Li had surmised, the next moment unfolded with the girl – who was just an ordinary human at the time – unable to free herself from the man-eating mud trap; as the mire reached her knees, her expression turned from panic to outright fear.

Every struggle made the girl sink further, her shoes, beyond her care, were tossed aside, buried in the mire.

Her gorgeous dress hem was stained with the filthy, putrid mud.

The girl yelled loudly, but her distant guardians could no longer hear her cries.

At this moment, a strange rustling sound came from the jungle bushes.

Several natives emerged from the bushes, observing from a distance.

The girl was startled, then reignited with hope, she shouted at the natives, “Please save me!

I’m Duke Adela’s youngest daughter, my father will pay you handsomely if you save me…”

The natives exchanged glances, then suddenly knelt to the ground, making incomprehensible strange sounds at the girl.

The slimy mud creeping up to her thighs made the girl nauseous and fearful; she struggled to maintain her composure, mimicking her father’s authoritative image and commanded them, “I order you to take me out!”

But this only made the tribal natives pray even more devoutly.

The girl sank deeper and deeper, her beautiful red dress already completely submerged in the muck; the desperate girl cried out, “Save me!

Her hoarse throat robbed her of the power to scream, the mud below her chest was stripping away her warmth.

She began to struggle to breathe, her eyelids growing ever heavier.

At some moment, as consciousness was about to slip away, the girl weakly turned her head to the spot where Lu Li had been standing.

“Save me…” she said faintly.

She seemed to see Lu Li.

Whether this was the new ability of the second rose of the Spirit-Calling Gun or a special trait of the Old Mother, or merely a coincidence, Lu Li could not tell.

He watched the girl quietly, nodding his head, “Okay.”

Approaching the edge of the quagmire, Lu Li extended his hand, grasping the girl’s futilely outstretched arm, icy cold without a hint of warmth.

The suction from within the mire resisted Lu Li.

“Why?” a weak voice inquired at his ear.

“Why…” the girl asked again, but it seemed not to be a repetition.

Lu Li knew that the girl, or rather the Old Mother, was asking something different this time.

And to this question, an answer already resided in Lu Li’s heart.

“Those who do not revere life, do not deserve life.”

The body that lost warmth fell silent for a moment, the face hidden in the shadows murmured softly, “Why isn’t it you…

The Old Mother’s last sentence turned into a roar as her hands, sharp as blades, plunged into Lu Li’s chest, tearing open his body.

Lu Li’s form shattered, in the midst of being attacked he was about to exit the death sequence, but at that moment, he saw a scene that had once taken place.

In the dark, damp swamp jungle, several figures kneeled at the edge of the bushes.

At their center, a pale and slender arm, seemingly unstained, emerged above the swamp, and a blood-red onyx bracelet on the wrist was the only color there.

Everything froze in this scene, like a painting.

Lu Li’s consciousness returned to his body.

He lifted his head and saw once again that beautiful face, nibbled away and lost its original form.

The Old Mother let out her final roar, dragging the remnants of her strength towards Lu Li.

The Human-faced Bug Swarm nibbling at the face was swept away by the renewed burst of power, the Old Mother’s power unleashed without concealment upon Lu Li.

But before it could reach Lu Li, the power quietly dissipated, as if a gentle breeze had passed over his body.

The echo of the shout faintly dissipated into the distance.

In the thick, deep sea, obscure consciousness began to fade away.
