Devilish secretary Chapter 3

She smiled at the thought. Carter Enterprises. The CEO, as per the rumors, was bipolar. Moody and impossible to please, firing secretaries left and right like they were nothing. More than twenty secretaries had already been dismissed in just two months. The thought of him amused Lilith. Whoever he was, he sounded like a handful. But she was the devil herself—someone like that wasn't going to intimidate her.

Lilith leaned her head back against the seat, a wicked grin playing on her lips. 'A moody CEO who can't tolerate imperfections? This is going to be interesting.'

When the taxi pulled up outside Sunshine Apartments, Lilith paid the driver and stepped out, her sharp eyes surveying the familiar surroundings. She could feel the remnants of the original Lilith's attachment to this place—a sense of pride and accomplishment for making it on her own. But for the devil, it was just a temporary resting spot, a far cry from the grand halls she used to roam.

As she made her way to her apartment, she thought about the interview tomorrow. The original Lilith had been nervous, unsure if she could meet the CEO's standards. But now, with the devil in her place, that wasn't even a question. Lilith had ruled entire realms—this was child's play.

Stepping into her apartment, Lilith surveyed her surroundings.

Upon entering, the first thing noticeable was the open floor plan, making the space feel larger than it was. The living room and kitchen flowed seamlessly into one another, separated only by a sleek kitchen island.

The walls were painted in a soft, muted cream color, offering a calming backdrop to the minimalistic furniture. There wasn't much decoration, but it had a modern, clean appeal.

In the living room, a comfortable gray couch was pushed against the wall, facing a small entertainment setup—a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall, beneath which sat a simple wooden stand holding a few books, a small speaker, and some personal trinkets.

A large floor-to-ceiling window allowed plenty of natural light to flood the room during the day. It opened onto a small balcony, barely big enough for two chairs, but it overlooked the city skyline.

Next to the living room was the kitchen. It wasn't large, but it was equipped with modern appliances—sleek stainless steel countertops, a small but efficient stove, a fridge, and a microwave.

The cabinets were a matte white, contrasting sharply with the dark wood floors. Everything was neatly arranged.

The bedroom had a large, queen-sized bed dominating the center, draped in light-colored sheets and adorned with soft, fluffy pillows. A small nightstand sat beside the bed, holding a lamp and a couple of books, hinting at the owner's love for quiet reading. Opposite the bed was a tall wardrobe, simple but spacious enough to hold a modest collection of clothes. Next to it, a large mirror leaned against the wall.

The room had an intimate, quiet atmosphere, perfect for Lilith's tastes. There were no unnecessary decorations, only the essentials. The soft beige curtains added a touch of warmth, framing the room's large window that overlooked the quiet street below.

The bathroom, attached to the bedroom, was equally modern. A glass-enclosed shower took up one side of the room, its tiles a cool gray that contrasted with the white porcelain sink. A mirror with soft LED lighting hung above the sink, casting a gentle glow that made it feel like a spa. The bathroom was small but designed with functionality and relaxation in mind.

And most importantly Tomorrow, she'd be going to Carter Enterprises to meet this so-called bipolar CEO. The challenge didn't scare her—it intrigued her. How hard could it be to deal with someone with a short temper? After all, Lilith had faced gods and demons in her previous life.

Thinking about the interview. The original Lilith had prepared extensively, reading up on the company, learning about its strict working environment, and mentally preparing herself for the difficult task of working with such a volatile CEO.

Lilith smirked to herself. "Bipolar, moody, impossible to please? Sounds like fun."

"I will be the perfect secretary... sounds like the perfect timepass," Lilith mused to herself as she casually dropped her bag on the bed, her eyes wandering toward the mirror.

She stopped for a moment, taking in her reflection. The body staring back at her was both familiar and different—new yet similar to the one she had before. Long, silky black hair cascaded down her back, framing her sharp, confident features. Her eyes, icy blue and piercing, held a certain coldness that matched the smirk tugging at her plump pink lips.

She ran a hand down her sides, feeling the perfect curves of her body, tall and graceful just like her former self. It was almost as if the universe had given her a replica of the power and beauty she had once held. The same fierce elegance, the same perfect frame that made her both alluring and dangerous.

"Same as my previous body," she murmured, the smirk widening. The gods didn't completely screw her over, after all.

Her fingers toyed with a strand of her hair as she stared deeper into her own reflection.

Lilith didn't take long to adjust to her new body or surroundings. After all, she wasn't just any devil—she was adaptable and quick to adapt to any situation. She took a long, hot shower, letting the water ease the slight aches and tension from her newly inhabited body. Once refreshed, she slipped into a pair of comfortable pajamas and flopped onto her bed, feeling the softness beneath her.

As she lay there, she picked up her phone, an amused smirk playing on her lips. Just because she was a devil didn't mean she was old-fashioned. In the Installer World, she had dealt with advanced technology, managing the chaos while playing around with it most of the time. Of course, she didn't just mess around; she had learned many things over her long existence. Living for centuries could get terribly dull if she didn't keep herself entertained with new knowledge.

Opening the phone, she immediately began browsing through information about the company she was set to interview with tomorrow—Carter Enterprises. The company's history, its rise to dominate the stock market, its marketing strategies, and news about its influence all intrigued her. She skimmed through the profiles of high-ranking executives and key public figures tied to the company, taking mental notes. Her icy Blue eyes gleamed as she pieced together the details of the human world she was now a part of.

However, one thing stood out: there was no information about the CEO. Not even a photo.

"Interesting," she thought, her fingers tapping lightly on the screen. It wasn't like her to miss out on information this crucial, but somehow, the identity of this CEO remained elusive. If she wanted, she could probably find out who he was with a little more digging, but where would the fun in that be?

Lilith enjoyed a good mystery.
