Devilish secretary Chapter 37

After the incident with Rayan, Lilith hadn’t seen or heard from him, which brought her a sense of peace she hadn’t realized she craved. It had been a week since she joined the office, and her weekend was spent on shopping, She picked out a few necessities for her home and a couple of outfits that suited her new job.

Tuesday came quickly, and it was no ordinary day. A major business event was scheduled for the evening, one that would gather the most influential names in the industry. As Sebastian’s secretary, it was her job to ensure his schedule was cleared for the second half of the day. By Monday, she had already handled a few demanding clients, wrapping up tasks that would have otherwise spilled into the evening.

Tuesday, 4:47 PM

Sebastian, dressed sharply in a tailored black suit that accentuated his sharp features, stood by his office desk, gathering a few documents. He glanced at Lilith with his usual calm and perfect expressionsless face .

"Miss Lilith, you should also follow along with me. I might need your assistance," he said in his deep, smooth voice.

Lilith simply nodded, grabbing her tablet and a small clutch before following him out of the office.

When they reached his private garage, Lilith couldn’t help but notice the sheer luxury on display. His car, a sleek black sedan, gleamed under the soft lights, exuding beauty and elegance. The driver, already seated inside, quickly stepped out as they approached.

The man hurriedly opened the door for them, bowing slightly. Lilith instinctively paused, allowing Sebastian to step in first, but he gestured for her to enter.

"After you," he said, his tone neutral but his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than usual.

Lilith stepped into the car, settling into the plush leather seats. She could feel Sebastian’s presence as he slid in beside her, the faint scent of his cologne—expensive and refined—filling the space.

The driver shut the door and took his position at the wheel. The engine purred to life.

The car pulled up outside a high-end studio where Sebastian regularly purchased his suits. It was situated on the second floor of a sleek glass building that reflected the golden evening light. As they stepped out, Lilith followed him silently, her eyes darting to the minimalist yet sophisticated signboard of the studio.

Inside, the environment exuded exclusivity, with luxurious fabrics and meticulously tailored pieces displayed on mannequins. Assistant Quinn was already there, waiting with a garment bag in hand. He smiled briefly at Sebastian and handed him the selected suit. Without a word, Sebastian took it and disappeared into the fitting room to change.

Lilith stayed back, observing the quiet bustle of the studio. She noticed assistant Quinn’s his phone buzzed in his pocket. He quickly answered it, his brows furrowing deeper with each passing second. By the time he ended the call, his expression was a mix of frustration and worry.

"What happened?" Lilith asked, her voice calm yet curious as she took a step closer.

Quinn sighed, cutting the call and rubbing his temple. "I just got news that Nina, the female companion arranged for Mr. Carter for tonight’s business party, had an accident. She’s fine but won’t be able to attend."

"How should we find someone else in such short notice?" Assistant Quinn rubbed his temple, clearly stressed.

Lilith tilted her head slightly, her mind already working on the problem. "You’re overthinking. It’s just a business party, not a royal ball. Anyone presentable can fill the role."

Quinn shot her a look of disbelief. "It’s not just about being presentable. It’s about representing Mr. Carter, maintaining his public image."

Before she could respond, the fitting room door opened, and Sebastian came out in the tailored black suit.

The suit fit his well-built body perfectly, hugging his muscular frame.

The sharp cut accentuated his broad shoulders and the narrow waist, highlighting his athletic build. His jawline was chiseled, and his tousled hair framed his striking face, making him look both handsome and powerful. His presence seemed to grab attention effortlessly. As he walked toward them, he casually rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, revealing his forearms—strong, toned, and lean.

Noticing the tension in the air, he asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Sir, the female companion we arranged... she had an accident," Quinn said, his tone cautious as he watched Sebastian closely.

Sebastian’s face immediately darkened. His jaw clenched, and his eyes turned cold, a dangerous expression spreading across his features. His usual expression was replaced by a wave of anger, the kind that could freeze anyone in their tracks. "She can’t make it?"

"No, sir," Quinn confirmed. "She’s fine, but she’s unable to attend. We’ve run out of time to find a suitable replacement."

Sebastian glanced at Lilith, his eyes showing a strange flicker. He took a deep breath to calm himself. "This is a problem, but we can handle it," he said, his voice steady.

Lilith nodded slightly and stepped forward. "We’ll figure it out, sir."

Sebastian’s eyes stayed on her a moment longer than usual before he turned to Quinn, his voice turning colder. "Deal with it. Find someone to take over. I won’t let this ruin tonight."

Quinn, feeling a little nervous about Sebastian’s sudden change, nodded quickly. "Understood, sir."

Lilith scrolled through her phone, dialing numbers of actresses and models she had contacted before. But luck didn’t seem to be on her side—some weren’t answering, and others were unavailable.

Quinn paced nervously, glancing at the clock as time slipped away. Suddenly, his gaze landed on Lilith, whose back was facing them. Even the way she was speaking looked so elegant, and despite the tense situation, she seemed to be maintaining her calm.

An idea struck him like lightning, and his eyes brightened with sudden inspiration. But as he turned to his boss, Sebastian’s cold stare froze him in place, sending a shiver down his spine. Still, Quinn gathered his courage and blurted out,

"Boss, why don’t you take Miss Lilith as your female companion?"
