Dominate the Super Bowl Chapter 762

Chapter 762: 761 grabbed the spotlight

“…The game had just begun, and already a challenge loomed before Richie.”

“The number one seed in the American League was proving with their actions that their outstanding performance this season wasn’t a mirage; even in the playoffs, they remained competitive, and the defending champions were not joking around.”

“Of course, it was still the first quarter, and Richie had time to adjust. This would be yet another new test in Coach Richie’s professional career.”

“As anticipated before the match, it was going to be a battle of offense.”

“Compared to defense, the performance of the two offensive groups would determine the outcome of the game, and the Kansas Chiefs Offense had already proven their explosive power and consistency; next, the spotlight would focus on the Indianapolis Colts Offense.”

“Andrew Luck, the pressure was all on Luck’s shoulders now. He needed to score, by any means necessary, whether it was a field goal or a touchdown; he needed to score before the situation worsened.”

Chatter chatter, much discussion.

From the score, it’s clear this American League Division Game is still in its early stages, and it’s too soon to call the outcome—anything is possible. But those with clear sight could see that the momentum was wholly on the side of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs Offense was not only scoring, but they also had a tactical and formative advantage, firmly in control and seemingly dominating the game.

The situation was far from as simple as the score suggested.

No one could underestimate Luck.

When the Indianapolis Colts wanted to switch quarterbacks early, even before Big Manning had been officially ruled out due to injury, they proclaimed:

“The old king is dead, long live the new king.”

This thrust Luck into the spotlight, even before he had entered the League, setting him against a Hall of Fame quarterback who was widely considered a strong contender for the greatest of all time. One can only imagine the weight of that pressure.

Over the years, Luck had struggled to progress amid controversies and scrutiny.

However, setting aside comparisons with Big Manning, Luck’s performance was indeed excellent; he was also one of the best quarterbacks in the League at the time.

His ability was not to be underestimated.

Over the years, more than once or twice, Indianapolis Colts games were in peril, on the brink of loss, when Luck miraculously turned the tide, pulling the team back from the edge and seizing one hard-fought victory after another.

Luck was no stranger to the current situation.

This young man, only twenty-nine, with a scruffy beard, had hair so thin on his forehead one could see his scalp—a contrast that made one wonder whether it was more apt to describe him as a world-weary vagabond or a matured beyond his years team leader. One thing was certain:

He had endured much more than someone of his age should have.

With an unruffled expression, Luck donned his helmet and re-entered the field.

The spotlight turned on, and it was time for the quarterback to perform again.

This time, someone protested, raising an irrefutable point:

Why should the spotlight naturally fall on the quarterback, or rather the offensive group, every time they faced a crisis? Isn’t football supposed to be a team sport? Can’t anyone else besides the quarterback change the course of the game?

At last, someone stepped forward to prove their point with action.

“The target is… Hilton!”

“Oh, Fuller, Fuller secured his position, Hilton couldn’t jump freely, Fuller and Hilton tangled up together!”

“Fuller denied the pass to Hilton from Luck, this intermittently brilliant cornerback executed a superb pass defense!”

“Eric-Ebron, the Indianapolis Colts’ number two wide receiver, catches the football with ease, but he is surrounded by three men.”

“The Kansas City Chiefs’ defense in the short pass area didn’t lose focus, stepping up just in time to cut off any potential for Eric-Ebron to continue advancing,”

“A clean, crisp defensive play.”

“The game, it’s really heating up now. The Indianapolis Colts’ Offense is going all in, but the Kansas City Chiefs Defense is toughening up as well, getting fully entangled in a back-and-forth stand-off. Andrew Luck needs to stay calm and rational, making more logical choices for his passing targets.”

“No, no, no, a play-action pass! Coach Richie actually called for pass plays seven times in a row. He seems to be responding to Coach Reed’s recent series of ground attacks.”

“Pressure! The Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive line is applying effective pressure, the pocket’s been broken.”

“Danger, Luck is on the move, Luck is trying to escape!”

“God! A beautiful interception block!”

“Chris Jones! Jones makes a play again!”

“Jones, without any warning, stood straight up from amongst the crowd, thought to be a hobbit, turned out to be an elf, raising his arms high to block the pass with a spectacular cap.”

The Kansas City Chiefs Defense made themselves heard—

It wasn’t just a single player stepping up as the superhero; the entire defensive unit was united in heart and spirit, tightly knit together.

Maybe their average performance throughout the season was below expectations, reliant entirely on the Offense to carry them aloft, but never underestimate their will and courage. The energy they exude at critical moments is always an indispensable part of the reigning champions.

Moreover, this is a must-win game, no other option, they must win, for Felix.

“Ah, the pocket’s collapsed!”

“A blitz, the Kansas City Chiefs Defense chose to blitz without any warning.”

“Chris Jones, by switching up the pattern of engagement, invaded the pocket, completely outmaneuvering the Indianapolis Colts’ offensive line, whose pocket protection was horrendous, earning Jones a direct confrontation with Luck.”

“Marlon Mark! Marlon Mark is locking down his position, trying to protect Luck, but Jones makes a beautiful stop-and-go to shake off Mark’s block.”

“‘Jones VS Luck’! Jones relentlessly pursuing Luck, with Luck trying every possible way to escape.”

“Luck. Luck! Ladies and gentlemen, Andrew Luck, no one knows how he did it, but Luck completes the pass, a rainbow arc, a parabola soaring across Arrowhead Stadium!”

“Just as Luck releases the ball, Jones lands an effective hit, a hit that seems not to alter the trajectory of Luck’s pass. Once again, Luck shows his big heart, dramatically pulling the Indianapolis Colts back from the brink. Luck’s target for the pass is—”

“Ten yards, twenty yards, thirty yards, forty yards!”

“A 43-yard long pass, Luck from a tight spot attempting a backfield surprise, trying to connect with Hilton for a game-changing, deadly strike.”

“Now, all the pressure is on Hilton’s shoulders, but…”

“The Kansas City Chiefs make a crucial defensive play, thwarting Luck’s attempt to connect with Hilton for a straight dash to the end zone, striking out the Colts, sending Luck off the field. The defending champions just wrecked Luck’s show, stealing all the limelight!”
