Don: The Blood Chains Chapter 47

It wasn’t just exciting, but it meant that it was more than Pablo thought about. If they make a connection with the DSA and they actually go with it, they can really be an unstoppable force... and be in the worst spot at the same time.

Working with an agency is a two-sided blade that can hurt more than everything else in their worlds.

"How do we make a connection with them?" He asked as he looked at James who was still circling things that didn’t make any sense even to him.

"My so called supervisor, Olivia, we know her full name, and you bribed the Justice minister, didn’t you?"

"Yeah, I did." He said with pride in his voice. "So should we search where she is?"

"She is probably in a hospital, we just need to pay a visit and talk with her in a good manner," Joseph said as he wrote up her name. "Though her eyes were like a hunter." He looked up. "She talked proudly about the new system and there is no corruption, so it worries me a little that she might be a problem. She looks like the kind of agent who still seeks justice in a rotten word."

"She might, but she needs to look at the bigger picture." Pablo said as he pointed at the paper. "If she really is for justice then, we aren’t the big picture for her, but everything around us."

"Yeah, we are like a magnet, we draw everything in, with all of our moves, like if the Cassian family is just a setup for all of them, though that’s a problem too." He said as he leaned back. "We can’t let ourselves draw in too much."

"What worries me the most in that whole situation is if we go with it, is the DSA really going to let us do whatever we want?" Pablo asked as he tapped his finger on the paper.

"I already said it, Pablo. The Cassian family is now the center and around it is just pure chaos, we are nothing but at the same time we are everything." He looked up. "We don’t need to tell them what we will do or not, because they already knew it, but their focus now is not on us but on them. For ten straight years they did nothing with them, which is also an advantage for us, the public unrest and the reaction that it will bring."

Pablo thought about it and realized that he didn’t even think about the public.

"Yeah, the public... for ten years there were drug lords and they did nothing... they will be furious." He whispered as realized it would cause outrage, outrage that was already happening.

"More than furious... we killed two officers too, and the DSA will try to hide it too. They aren’t going to say your name but someone else’s name, a scapegoat, and if that truly happens it just causes more and more unrest, demanding for answers, maybe some protest, and it just puts more pressure on everyone even in the underworld. It’s just like a political move against its opposition."

Yeah indeed it was, and Pablo was still just without words how Joseph can be this smart, how does he say things when he doesn’t even know the current situation in their world. 10 years passed but he was talking like he was never even imprisoned.

"Is it from your father?" He asked. "This is almost unbelievable to explain without knowing anything."

"It is, I didn’t want to get involved but I saw so many things, so many moves, manipulation when I was still with them. My father even had a diary which I read in secret and he was truly a genius. I’m sure that if he hadn’t died then he would be a politician right now... I didn’t ask yet but were they buried?" He soundly changed the topic which surprised Pablo.

"Yes, they were but..." He hesitated though he knew Joseph didn’t really hold anything against them, so he said it. "After the new government took power, they decided that criminals can’t be buried officially, and they destroyed their headstones, pulled out the coffins, and burned what remained of them... not just them but thousands of other criminals too."

He expected everything from Joseph as he finished, but not what he did... he just chuckled.

"How funny it is, he was a believer and can’t even rest after his death." He said as he looked up at the ceiling. "That’s why I don’t believe Pablo, because I know there isn’t a rest for us, we will suffer eternally."

"That for sure we will." He said as he chuckled too, and there was a bit of silence between them, maybe the realization that for them there is no rest, even after their death, or maybe they accepted it a long time ago, especially Pablo.

"Anyways." Joseph said a gab and another paper. "What are you, Pablo?" He asked as eyeing him and caught him off guard.

"A human...?" He said and Joseph once again laughed out.

"Now in the family what are you, an underboss, an advisor?"

"Ohh I mean what do you want me to be, I can be the financ--"

"No, you won’t be touching money from this point on." Joseph said quickly as eyed him. "Officially you will be my underboss, you good with it?"

"Of course I am." He said immediately.

"Good, then we need someone that’s good at math and finance. Anybody in your mind?"

"Actually yeah, one of my team members back in DAG, he graduated from college with finance and then joined the DAG, so he can be a good one. His name is Dyan Sivian."

A mercenary who killed whoever they said... with fiance degree... that a career turn. He smiled as he thought about it.

"Where is he now and why wasn’t he the one that was handling the money?" He asked because it would be way better than Pablo... they wouldn’t have needed to do all this shit.

"He was the one that made our connection with the banks and launderers, so while he was doing that I was handling the money and now he is on the work of freeing our assets."

"Yeah, back in the DAG days we made millions, but we couldn’t use it for obvious reasons so he is now trying to free the assets, so we can use it too." He said calmly like it wasn’t a big information to Joseph and for the family.

For a moment, it seemed like Pablo was doing it for fun... like just wanting them to be broke, just slowing down everything, to really start from the bottom.
