"What did you say it was?" Wen Congrui furrowed his brows, unable to hear her clearly.
Wufu looked at his obviously young face trying to seem mature and stern, which made her want to tease him.
"Oh, my lord can call me Squirrel if he likes," Wufu shrugged her shoulders.
Wen Congrui’s face darkened; her attitude, her manner, it was really infuriating. He wanted to ask her, you’re clearly a little fox, so why the name Squirrel?
"Squirrel Warrior, this Flower-Picking Thief..."
"My lord, to catch this Flower-Picking Thief as quickly as possible, I hope to examine the records of these cases," Wufu interrupted him.
Before Wen Congrui could even open his mouth, the clerk standing next to him scolded: "Are case records something someone of no name like you can look at?"
A nobody who suddenly showed up dares to ask to see the case records in the Yamen, are they for outsiders to view?
Wen Congrui wanted to laugh as well, and he actually did, though the laugh didn’t reach his eyes. He merely said, "Details of a case investigation are for the Ministry of Punishment and those with an official position, or those who serve as constables in the Yamen to review. Mr. Squirrel Warrior, may I ask in which department are you currently serving?"
His sarcasm earned a glare from Wufu.
"My lord, your words are mistaken." Wufu looked around, alright, aside from the chair under Wen Congrui’s backside, there was nowhere else to sit in this hall where cases are usually adjudicated.
She found some steps and sat down, saying, "Although I don’t hold any official position and am not sent by any department, I too have a heart for justice just like my lord!"
Something inexplicably leapt in Wen Congrui’s heart as he subconsciously looked towards the little fox, no, the squirrel.
Seeing him sitting without any propriety, speaking flippantly, and appearing carefree, Wen Congrui couldn’t help but purse his lips.

"What do you mean by that?" Wen Congrui asked with a darkened face, wondering if she wasn’t here to catch a thief but rather to mock him.
Wufu sat up straight and said, "Doesn’t my lord wish to catch the Flower-Picking Thief? So do I, and therefore our hearts are the same."
Wen Congrui snorted, "The heart of the Squirrel Warrior must be set on the five hundred taels of Reward Money, right?"
Wufu gave a sly smile and stood up to give a salutary bow, saying, "My lord is astute."
A crack appeared on Wen Congrui’s always gentle and refined face, the corner of his mouth twitching involuntarily.
