Madam Lu had just changed Zhou Dajun into a fresh set of clothes when she saw the red, swollen, and broken skin on his lower body; she almost fainted, her teeth chattering violently.
How could someone be so cruel? Dajun is only so young, how could that vile person be so ruthless?
Zhou Xuennian stormed in like a whirlwind, without a word, he snatched the blanket off his son’s body and dragged him off the bed, beating him with fists and feet.

Zhou Xuennian was furious, certain that his face was marred.
"You crazy woman, I will divorce you." Zhou Xuennian said angrily as he dealt a heavy slap across Madam Lu’s face.

Zhou Xuennian, covering Madam Lu’s mouth, shouted angrily, "Keep quiet, unless you want everyone to know, this is a family disgrace."
Madam Lu, sobbing, tried desperately to pry his hands off, beating and hitting him.
Zhou Xuennian, utterly exhausted, with fiery pain on his face, felt he must have drawn the short end of the stick to end up with such a shrewish wife. Not to mention being illiterate, his own son turned out to be such a disgrace, costing him his reputation.
But Madam Lu’s words also troubled him. How he became a Scholar Master was something Madam Lu knew very well, almost like a lever she held over him.
Zhou Xuennian, his eyes filled with a sinister glint, decided to appease his wife for now and plan his next moves carefully.
"Mother." Zhou Dajun woke up and began to cry for his mother.
